What you neglected to say is that over 12 million users found that a service is worth paying for despite a competing service being FREE and the console is almost equivalently priced.

What does that tell you?

It kind of has for me. I turn it on to watch TV on Netflix as I don't have cable service, tune into ESPN every now and then, last.fm for music and then games all in a sleek interface.

No real reason to mess with the PC anymore.

edit: himdeel I'm sure you figured it out, but I meant cable TV. Then again you could get it with satellite.

That would never happen right now. Pushing an additional accessory is something the public would quickly reject.

That doesn't make any business sense. Don't you think MS thought about these things before they sink millions and millions of dollars into the business?

because it is!

How long did you see GT5 on the list games coming next year?

Unlike the console industry, it actually never hurts MS to sell a Kinect unit. It isn't sold at a loss!

The ad cost is fixed regardless of how many people buy it so it is a non-issue.

"That is what confuses me over this so much. MS is sort of marketing Kinect as if it is a new console.. So surely the best way to do that is to shift the 'console' to as many people as possible... So why are they trying to grab a real profit margin from it?"

It's very simple, casual gamers don't run out and buy software like hardcore gamers do. They are much more price sensitive, buy less and use it less. Thus grabbing an upfront profit makes sense a...

First off all, that problem will always exist of clearing out old SKU so that is a non-issue. MS did it with the previous console refresh to slim and they have done it numerous time on internal hardware upgrades.

The issue is changing a controller design mid-cycle and forcing it upon a lot of users isn't necessarily the best approach. You might just upset a lot of customers that are used to the old design (despite the fact that this is likely something that is well receiv...

I never noticed the controller issue with KillZone 2 so it didn't bother me.

The recoil in Black Ops is definitely noticeable, but I wonder if it is the type of weapon. This is set in the 60s and although a lot of the weapons (if not most) are still used today, some improvements might have occured?

With that said, I have no clue when it comes to weapons. All I know is the US military don't buy the latest and greatest weapons because of all the bureauc...

I never really cared about what the manufacturer pays for the product it intends to profit from me. If so, I would have complained just about any brand name product out there including iPhones, Coach Handbags, and so on.

It is what is provided to me in value i.e. if the profit margin is slim, but provides little value then I don't give two hots! If it has a 99% profit margin, but provides me a better value, I will take that.

With that said, the BOM exclu...

I personally prefer MW2, but Black Ops isn't a bad game by any stretch. Still better than 99% of the FPS out there!

Actually, I'm happy with the release of Kinect. Kinect ushered in a new era of interface and I love controlling my dash controller-less and using the voice command.

Can't wait for the next update that hopefully fully integrates Kinect into the dashboard!

From what I can tell, the haters are usually the ones that don't own a Xbox 360!!!

Of course you are only counting the near term benefit.

The long term benefit is that they invested into a brand name and a business.

Consider that you look at any technology company that is publicly traded, have at least price to earning in the 15 and that is very conservative. Then a profit of $1 million, gives a market cap of $15 million.

Extrapolate that and suddenly you realize that this business is worth a lot more.

What is unaccounted for is the fact that this is sold to casuals.

Casuals buy stuff at a slower, but steadier pace, and half a million units at $150 is nothing to sneeze at in 2-3 days in one region!

Many high profile games dream of getting that kind of sales in a few days for a smaller price tag, let alone a $150 accessory.

" 1 reason is simply because COD is all that 360 owners ever really play. Reason # 2 is because its really the only game on the 360 thats worth a damn."

So by your reasoning then, there isn't a game worth a damn on the PS3 since nobody is playing?

Then I should follow up with wath PS3 exclusive have you had in recent time? I have been playing Halo: Reach and Fable 3!

All fanboyism aside of course....?

Kinect is fun, but nothing so far I would play extended period alone. Not even Dance Central, but I can see it appeal to the casual crowd.

With that said, I love the voice control and navigating the dashboard with no controller!

Ironically, this guys studio name is "Stir Fry Games"... however, what he doesn't realize is that he is a small fry and MS technically don't care if one developer moves on. I don't think the location is as important as self promoting the game.

There are gazillion indie developers out there and 99.9% of them make games that aren't worth the storage space. I love the tools MS gives you and the ability to self publish your games, but seriously get rid o...

My experience with PS Move is also that it has slight lag. Especially if you try it on Ruse.

If that is as good as it gets, the dream of Street Fighter with motion controls is wishful thinking.

Case in point The Fights: Lights Out (uses gestures) and Fighters Uncaged... ugh!

I'm hoping for a more fun game ala Punch Out on either platform.

"* Microsoft's has been completely silent. They usually have press releases proclaiming 'amazing sales' if there is even the remotest thing to brag about."

So will you eat your own words if the sales come out and is strong?

The product hasn't even released a week yet in the US, and it hasn't even released in other parts of the world like Europe. Yet, somehow they didn't release numbers and it is doom and gloom. I say that...
