Like it or not, it is hardware that sells Nintendo consoles. The Wii wasn't successful because of the Nintendo IPs on it and the Gamecube and Wii U didn't fail because of lack of Nintendo IPs.

Yeah, basically all this announcement is about is confirming that to Level 5 the 3DS is a legacy system and their IP that you would expect on it are now on the Switch from now on. They might still work on other IP for other systems.
The title for this article left out the second part of the quote - “Basically, in the future our main titles will all be released on Nintendo Switch. The idea is that what we have created for 3DS will move over to Switch.”
Level-5 might still make games like Dark Cloud 3 or Rogue Galaxy 2 for Playstation.

That isn't even close to being the same thing. First, the PS4 isn't the successor to the Vita.
