Honestly that is good news.
However they really need to improve the pace at which they make these games. Having to wait over a decade for TES 6 is beyond ridiculous.
Bethesda still holds a special place in my heart, but they are no longer the kings of the RPG genre. They need to prove that they have what it takes to be considered the best in this competitive industry. RPGs that look better, have better combat, and better storytelling exist in this space...
How is that a shame?
Reviewing something without comparing it out to the other options on the market is a disservice to the readers who are looking for clarity on what a new product or service offers.
Reviewing Disney + without mentioning Netflix, HBO max, Hulu, etc.. would be a disservice to consumers who want to know how something they don't have compares to something they do have. Then they can make a determination whether or not it is worth it fo...
Hmm, I wonder if they got any promotional deals for this. I would not mind stocking up on a few years if a can get a good deal.
I did the same thing for gamepass.
Given the scale of the game, I think there is lots more to show by way of gear in combat.
Graphics are a good improvement over anything else BGS has done to date, but still middle of the pack given what studios are putting out today.
My assessment of the gunplay though is that it feels like it lacks the feeling of weight and impact. Let's hope that improves. The guns don't look like they feel good to use.
Otherwise generally e...
I really want this game to be good. Please be good.
Respawn is hard carrying EA at this point.
What a gem of a studio. Their lack of single player content recently was just because they were a victim of their own success with apex legends. Glad to see them doing something more traditional.
To see a studio capable of pulling off FPS's and third person action adventure games really shows the depth of talent this studio has.
Excited to see how this turn out!
I probably should have mentioned classical fantasy, first person, action RPG. I was too vague.
But yes you are right, lots of RPG's to look forward to.
Ok this is really interesting.
It looks like there might be 3 studios working on AAA fantasy open world action RPG's.
Bethesda (ESVI)
Obsidian (Avowed)
and now Techland.
As a fan of the genre generally, this is really cool.
That is a solid list!
Interested to see Microsoft's response. Honestly I am all for both companies trying to one up each other. Cause in the end, as an owner of both consoles, I benefit from this competition.
Give me more.
Keep it up!
I guess we will have to see what xbox has to show at their showcase in june.
more games?
sounds good.
I have never really heard of this company. I hope they enable these studios to do their most creative and exciting work to date.
I think most of the big players don't want to generate additional regulatory scrutiny after their big purchases (Sony - Bungie, Microsoft - Activision). They want to fly under the radar until the deals have been approved. I am assuming that the recent announcements of both Xbox and Sony hiring people to find new acquisition targets means as soon as these deals are in the bag, they will move forward with further acquisitions.
Otherwise I agree with you, this would have b...
I love Bethesda but I have been concerned in recent years. Here are a few things I want to see in Starfield (generally).
1) Look amazing. Im really hoping the game looks great. Graphical fidelity is not THE most important thing about a game, but Bethesda titles have really been looking dated for quite a while now. Most of the gaming community is concerned about the viability of the Creation Engine. We live in the age of absolutely stunning looking games. It would be a shame...
Well this should answer any questions about Sony's stance on game preservation.
If they make serious inroads on creating foundation so that all generations of playstation games can be played on the current hardware at all times, this sets an amazing precedent. I really hope that they also look to make it possible for old games to play with quality, resolution and frame rate improvements
This is really good announcement.
That is my thought as well.
Was there an accompanying announcement to go along with this move?
This is what I am waiting for as well. We will see.
While I understand the concern that comes from industry consolidation, I think we are now entering an era where the tools being used by game studios will dictate the speed, quality and cost of games going forward.
Dislike epic all you want, but it seems that they used the insane success of Fortnite and invested absurd amounts of money in the games tools pipeline. More so than your traditional game studio would have the ability to do.
I recently read some...
Ya this feels pretty silly. The amount of arbitrary barriers feels petty. If the game is in your library (regardless of source) let any "free upgrade" apply to all versions of the game. Its not that hard.
