Its how PR works today, get people excited for the announcement and its a good way to get people to plan to tune in to it when it happens. For me, its annoying as it starts massive debates now over what it is, builds up hype and false expectation and when the event happens, if it doesn't live up to that user generated hype, people are dissapointed.
I wonder if people just tuned in and we didn't have all this pre talk, would we find the events better and more sati...
Personally I dont care for backwards compatability, but many folks do and its great news that you could soon be playing PS1 and PS2 titles on your PS4.
I hope they use some form of upscaling or tech to improve the image as if you have ever played a PS1 game on a 55 inch TV LCD you'll know it looks pretty terrible, so hopefully some form of filters could be employed to improve the experience.

Dont forget with such a cheap console, savings must be made somewhere. This is not an attack, so dont go crazy folks, think about it for a second. It makes sense for people to buy more controllers down the line anyway as there is more profit there. And I say the same thing with the X1 controller also, it too has its issues as many have said.
You gotta remember that the original PS3 in Aus was $1,000 vs $550 for PS4, thats a huge decrease and somethings gotta give.
Remember though GTA was a Sony only game before that and PC, never on Xbox, so getting GTA4 took a lot of effort and then securing a caviat for MS gamers was a great decision. Sales of GTA4 on 360 were impressive and enough to take away a key franchise from Sony so it was money well spent. Whats $50m when you sell 5million games at $80 each = $400 million in income, less costs it still is a no brainer.
We certainly hope Nintendo stays as we beleive a 3 horse race is a good race, for competition etc and gamers. We had a solid discussion about what Nintendo should or shouldnt do to improve their position. See if you agree or have other ideas as to what we perhaps didn't consider. The more we can do as gamers to help Nintendo may indeed help Nintendo stay in the gaming scene.
I am so over this debate on 1080p and 60fps vs 30fps. Who cares, its about the games and thats the most important thing. Playing the games you love. As gamers we need to stop giving stories like this attention as its dragging the industry down and causing rifts amongst the gaming community.

Sony executed their fear and gaming strategy well in 2013 to win gamers over. But now thats over with, the true intent of Sony comes out. TV, Apps, and other value added content like MS and just about every other device thats trying to win the living room.

I personally as a gamer, play games, on any system. To discount Nintendo and their games, and what they've contributed to the industry is extremely foolish.

Price cut will help. Hard to say a Wii U is worth $429 in Aus (32Gb model) while in same territory PS4 is $549 and XB1 is $599. Most people would expect Wii U to be $299 wig game pack in like lungi u and Mario U.

Loved Ryse, despite the negative press I spent 2 full weeks on this game, solid title, 8/10 and very purdy!
And this BS about frames dropping, mate unless you got a frame counter, your just recycling what someone has stated elsewhere. Its great, never slowed down at all and was very fluid.
My advice is hire the console, play it at a friends and give it a go.
Really, is this why I tune in to Nintendo Direct? To see a new character for Smash Brothers? FFS Nintendo, gimme what I want and need.
More Zelda, ie big new game, not a fighting title.

Its crazy a game like this that screams quality in every way is just ..... well.....cast aside with no discussion.
I agree. As a predominant MS fan and user, I enjoy the new kinect for the Value add, the voice, the little bits here and there, but you wont catch me dead playing a kinect title by jumpin about all over the place. And I beleive MS knows that too, and hence focused more on the integration of the OS rather than 10 Kinect launch titles I think.
I must say I am personally loving Mario 3D World. Its just amazing, and honestly its probably the best game this year to boot.
Its great to see people supporting the consoles. Whether its PS4 or XB1, buyers make my day. Now only wish people would pick up a Wii U so Nintendo doesn't exist the market lol.

Hmm, disappointing only 1 in 5 Wii U owners technically got Mario 3D Land, was expecting at least half. Maybe some more marketing on that title would help as its brilliant, hell I gave it a 10/10!
