PS3 is no more next gen than the 360. Having Blu-ray is about the only real advantage it has and that is of limited use for games.
Yes, 3d won't be big until next gen. If 3d tvs take off I am sure the next Xbox will also support 3d.
John Carmack only knows how to talk? What kind of joke is this. John Carmack is the lead engineer for his own aerospace company for crying out loud. He is one of the most respected developers in the game industry. What does he know? About games he knows more than most.
If you can't see that Gears of War 2, Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Metro 2033 and Halo Reach are amazing looking games right up there with the best looking games on the ps3 then you are a hopelessly blind Sony follower ...
Aside from a few first party titles the ps3 seems to have more screen tearing in most of the games i have played than the 360's games do.
I just played both demo versions of Aliens Vs Predator and the ps3 version had a lot of tearing and the 360 version basically had none. Mass Effect 2 is another game I have been playing lately on the 360 and it has zero screen tearing.
Yeah it is a good site. I bookmarked it and I am going to start going to it more often. The writing is good and I really like their attitude and approach. Metro 2033 is an amazing looking game that I am excited to find out more about.
Hey whoever disagreed with me, I am not saying that Killzone 3 won't look amazing because we all know it will. I am just saying that because Killzone 2 already looked so amazing it is going to be a lot harder for them to make a big jump between the two games.
Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2 saw a decent jump in quality but both of the first games had little issues like screen tearing and frame rate problems that made it easier for the devs to make a bigger improvement for the following g...
Wow thanks for the screenshots starchild. It makes it really obvious how awesome Reach's characters look compared to other shooters.
From cyguration's comment, "I'm not sure where people get this idea that somehow Bungie's going to be able to upscale the graphics within a few months and still meet the deadline."
Why is it that with ps3 games all we ever hear before they are released is "well the game isn't finished yet; it's going to look way better by the time it comes out"? But with 360 games, even when the game is like a year away ps3 fans will say "it's not going to look any bett...
I have never seen ME2 lighting flicker on and off. What is your deal? Halo Reach also seems to have very good lighting. TBH even Halo 3 had some great lighting.
Hey man thanks. The game does look stunning. I love what bungie have done with it.
If you are hoping that Killzone 3 will be much better looking than Killzone 2 you are going to be very disappointed.
Even Halo 3 had much bigger and more open levels than MGS4 and Killzone2. The levels in Killzone 2 can be pretty big but you mostly move from one linear area to the next. There aren't that many large outdoor environments with tons of vehicles and enemies and physics going on all around you like Halo is famous for.
Halo Reach looks at least as good as Killzone 2. The only thing is that it is kind of hard to compare them because they have a completely different look.
Based on my experience Lens of Truth and Digital Foundry are usually around 85% to 95% accurate in their comparisons.
I know on a couple of those you are flat out lying, because I compared them myself. I think you are the one that can't be trusted.
You must somehow not be sensitive to screen tearing, because I noticed quite a lot of it in both versions of the demo. The 360 version had less, but it was still quite off putting.
"Yet PS3 exclusives DESTROY 360 games and multiplats."
Ever more hilarious delusion from the Sadking.
Anyway, the 360 version has a more stable frame rate and less screen tearing. Not a night and day difference, but it is there.
Yep, lot's of games. More games than any other console in fact. (814 for the Xbox360 vs 485 for the PS3). http://www.metacritic.com/g...
This year the 360 has an especially awesome lineup. Fable 3, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Metro 2033, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, Halo Reach and whatever else gets announced. Amazing.
Then I guess we can say nothing on the PS3 this year is special whatsoever. Not MAG, not WKC, not Heavy Rain. Maybe you'll get one AAA when God of War 3 comes out.
My point is, if you are going to act like Fable 2 sucked because it got an 89 on metacritic then you have to say the same thing about Heavy Rain because it also has an 89 on metacritic. But get real, since when was an 89 a bad score? That is a very good score.
Um..it clearly looks better than Demon's Souls. Then again, Demon's Souls is good because of its gameplay, not its graphics. Its graphics are pretty atmospheric, but technically they aren't that great.
Well, for one, the textures in Halo Reach are of a noticeably higher quality than the textures in God of War 3. Second, the lighting is truly dynamic in Reach whereas I have mostly seen basic character shadow maps and specular lighting effects in God of War 3.
Anyway, I guess people see graphics differently because I wasn't hugely impressed with the God of War 3 trailer. It looks pretty dang nice, but it doesn't represent a new level in console graphics or anything like that....
I wonder if it will make your eyes hurt after a little while of playing. Games already tend to fatigue my eyes more than movies and I wonder if that effect will be heightened with 3d. I noticed that my eyes were slightly irritated after watching Avatar in 3d.
