Sony = hardware company with software failure (PSN outage)
MS = software company with hardware failure (RROD)
Is their a moral in there? I dunno but dont you just love the symmetry lol
At the end of the day, its nothing more than an annoying inconvenience for PS3 gamers (hopefully) and Sony will make good to its service users.
@SpLinT
Yeah, one of my greatest disappointments in gaming is that Metal Arms never got a sequel - which the ending obviously pointed to.
Gameplay and the array of weapons rivalled R and C . Shame it was released up against Jak and Daxter (I believe). Would be top of my list for a PS3 HD remake. A real jewel of a game.
Love what GG have done to Blood Gracht. Stunning artwork and design.
What is this........2009 !?
I suppose Guerrilla Games would qualify as a good example of this question. Kz2 was slated for its 'different' control scheme which many gamers put forward as the prime reason for not buying the game (personally I thought they were fine and defined the game). Consequently, sales would / should probably been better and given Sony a greater return on its investment.
As a 'listening dev', GG tightened up the controls for Kz3, to make it more accessible to a wider audience...
Graphics are important to ALL gamers, regardless of their choice of console. How many gamers upgraded to HDTV once this generation was underway? I'm willing to bet most of them - and the ones still playing on SDTV want to or plan to. Why go to that expense if graphics dont matter?.
Not saying a game should only be about the graphics but it's certainly one of the most important factors.
Besides, given that most of our information on the world around us is processed thr...
Good guide. Ready to take on Elite - and it's personal this time as I could never finish Kz2 on Elite because of Radec's goons in the final chapter. One day though.
Off Topic
Anyone else come across Killzone Ascendanccy - written by Sam Bradbury and published by Penguin books?
Its a pretty good read, faithful to the Kz3 game dialogue and gives a bit of a potted history to the Killzone universe. Picked it up from my local Tesco for less than £5. Would have ...
Anyone else's jaw drop when they saw what they had done to the updated Blood Gracht map? Breathtaking!
Personally, I would love to see some top line developer set a game in the PAST - in particular a WW1 battlefield / trench setting.
Bolt action rifles, pistols, heavy machine guns, artillery strikes and hand to hand close-quarter combat.
Stealth/capture missions into No-mans land at dead of night etc. A dev like GG with the Killzone engine, could really go to town on creating an atmospheric battlefield with the lighting , animations and particle effects. Something new, somethin...
Excellent review for an all-round excellent game.
One of the better and HONEST reviews that others should have given. Story is good, animations and controls are improved (even though Im a Kz2 fan) and obviously, there's nothing more one can say about the graphics.
SP gameplay length is NOT a problem. Give me a shorter, jampacked quality offering over a lengthy, dull, rinse and repeat type, anyday of the week. Pretty much how I felt about Heavenly Sword.
@inFAMOUS 1
I think the ending sets up the story continuation...
Whoopy-f***ing-do, he found a bug!! How dare any developer release a game (albeit a GREAT one) with a bug in it!
I find it sad and annoying that anyone can indulge in such a nitpicking waste of time. Just enjoy the game ffs. Their won't be many better, anytime soon.
As most of you guys above have said, I can't find anything wrong with the story and neither would I criticise GG for the cutscenes.
Somebody please point me to a fps that has a compelling storyline as a major component of the game? I thoroughly enjoyed the ride - which is why I bought the game.
OT Im pretty sure Ive worked out the question posed in the final scene - from a clue in the opening scene. Wont post my theory as it would be a massive spoiler!
@ cez of rage
Im pretty much with you on your comments as a fan of the Killzone franchise, having played the hell out of the original on PS2 - except online which was pre-internet days for me.
In particular, the well-crafted SP story and the ability to play all or any of the four main characters as well as Battlefields mode - all these still get me loading up the game on my PS2 from time to time.
Im much too old to be a fanboy lol but more than old enough to know what ...
@REDHULKSMASH
Im pretty sure that GG said that Salmon (salamun?) market (along with Blood Gracht) would be the two Kz2 maps to be upgraded and to be included (DLC?) in Killzone3. And would also include mechs!
The concept is really no different to Resistance : FoM. Except Insomniac based their game in the UK and against a non / previously-human enemy.
Loved that game for its story and narrative.
Homefront is a title I'm keeping an interested eye on. (they're both interested actually lol)
"Gabe Newell shockingly aligned the PS3 version"?
Gone are the days when Gabe would shockingly MALIGN the PS3 version.
Sony should really go to town and advertise Kz3 - unlike the way they let down Kz2. And they should put a demo on the PS store, sooner rather than later. Didn't get into the Beta and I really want something to drool over until the February launch.
Naughty Dog and Media Molecule = Class Acts
Not forgetting Guerrilla, Sony Santa Monica, Polyphony et al
So come on Gearbox - when are you going to fill a blu ray with Borderlands 2?
