Nintendo couldn't buy Sony. While Sony has a net worth of around 20billion as of (Q1 2013), their debts and liabilities would be far too much for Nintendo take on (121billion). Song AND Nintendo will need to post some strong profit for Q4 to really determine their 5-10 year outlook as companies.
@Beastforlifenoob first off i think you need to define sequel... which in most dictionaries means a continuation of a story or narrative, which would mean Mario games have a story???
Secondly how Mario games again? 8? Try 2 Mario & Luigi Dream Team and Super Mario 3D World. If you want kindly explain how a Mario and Sonic Olympic game is a Super Mario sequel please, by all means.
Thirdly not really a fanboy, I like Nintendo, as much I like Sony and Microsoft, I'm jus...
@shutUpAndTakeMyMoney and yet a 800th sequel (which technically not true) is a single point lower than the TLOU on metacritic. I think it's fair to say both have equal chances of winning, though I do believe TLOU will win.
Secondly Uncharted 2 is the best PS3 game.
Thirdly how much influence do you see in studios producing Bayonette 2 or X from Nintendo? Sony buying Nintendo (not economically feasible) would be a completely different dynamic from anything we've ev...
I wanted sooo badly to buy a Vita during Black Friday for the train rides into work. A friend of mine bought one and tested out the remote play and a couple of the free PSN games. He basically told me what I feared in that the remote works, but 30fps kind of sucks, and the buttons not mapping exactly to a DS3 or DS4 kind of throws the idea off. It just seems like the Vita Tv and the Vita itself had a lot of great ideas thrown at it, but nothing really to give itself an idendentiy.
I don't get the appeal of the Vita Tv at all... I mean yes having a virtual PS4 else where in the house is cool, in princple, but if I want to play BF4 on the PS4, I want to play it on the TV and sound system I have it set up for. I don't know seems like niche product to me. Good numbers for the Wii U though, when does the PS4 launch in Japan?
Well so much for those who proposed Mario 3DW dropping out of the charts in two weeks...
You're probably right on basis on anything being, "most influential" this generation, being hard to neccessarily pinpoint. Honestly, I don't really believe there was that one game that pushed a new genre or a new to play games this generation. Maybe Wii Sports since it spawned countless copycat games and hardware revisions to consoles? I just don't see TLOU having pushed anything new or groundbreaking forward... honestly Uncharted 2 might stand out for me more.
TLOU was a fantastic presentational/story driven game... but far from influential since it borrows heavily from Uncharted in terms of gameplay and "name your zombie movie/tv show" references in story telling. Uncharted is far more influential at this point.
I don't get it... is this a joke? Cause then why not compare the gameboy vs the iphone or Xbox One vs the Atari 2600? Meth is one hell of a drug apparently...
How does the fact that you're older mean you out rank... well anyone here? While saying the "nes sucked" is your opinion... I'd simply just assume you hate all video games and can't appreciate history...
I really hope your just talking about the design of the console.
I love how most of all you fanboys are discounting a system that sells a million in 24hrs that cost $500 freaking dollars!!!
How in the hell did you get on Wii U tangent? You completely go against your own argument of repetitivie Nintendo titles by listing GTA, God War, Forza, Halo and Uncharted all of which have multiple sequels and even remakes. If you're stating that since you're "older" and these titles appeal more to you, that's great, but don't use the argument that mario gets old because they've produced countless sequels.
@Angeljuice Knack?... oh wait
@Angeljuice did you really just say that Wii U has delusional fanboys? LOL have you seen the top stories on this site today one of which being retarded Sony fanboys getting back at retarded Xbox fanboys with reviews on Amazon for systems they don't even own!? While Wii U fanboys might be delusional, they aren't insane...
I'm not sure as to why you have so many disagrees? Do people not understand math?
Wait what? Strongest launch line up in history? Seriously? The Wii U beat it out (metacritic). Let's face it, most people could easily skipped out on the launch of either system and picked up a BF4 or COD or NBA2K for their current gen systems and been fine. I have a PS4, but I'm not about to say this the strongest line-up ever.
Lol your disagrees are from people that are in complete denial that this even an issue. I feel for you though nothing worse than a system you've been for, for awhile doesn't work out of the gate. It happening for a friend of mine that got his off of Amazon. I feel kind of guilty that mine hasn't had any issues (knock on wood)
Come on man, who really thought knack was a 8 or higher game. Everyone knows what kill zone is, a tight controlled beautiful but often generic first person shooter. I can't imagine Sony thought these where system sellers... It's not like an uncharted or a final fantasy (probably a poor example) is launching. You're buying the system now on potential. Just as you would be for an xbox or even a Wii U. These companies don't come out of the get any more with revolutionary gam...
Assets do not equal net worth. Sony's worth is not equal to 150 billion because you have subtract their liabilities which is close to 127 billion. Nintendo still doesn't have the capital to buy Sony out right, they have something close to 10 billion in the bank with zero debt but not enough to buy Sony as whole. Sony hypothetically could buy Nintendo IF they borrowed money from some their larger investors (JP Chase) but their debt is rather substantial as it is, their losses on the...
