I almost feel like they announced this because we have so many websites posting stories about how 'there is no ps4 because there's no box!' or 'killzone's demo was just cgi!'.
It's sad really, I feel like they are telling me the sky is blue and water is wet. Of course there will be playable demos at E3, that is one of the main points of the conference.
Manufacturers should really put that special coating from blurays on dvds too. They really do scratch up pretty easy, then again it doesn't help that a lot of people use their disks for cup holders and ashtrays. Or at least that's what it looks like when I buy a preowned game or rent a movie from redbox.

Still the reason why people are drawn to video games to begin with is to escape the ordinary. No one wants to play as a weak nerd boy or as an diabetic fat girl, those are highly unattractive. People want to be the cool guy that is so buff he can chop a car in half with his bare hand, or an attractive girl with gravity defying assets that can snipe a dime at 100 yards.

If they really want to sell 6 million copies that is almost certainly going to take the combined effort of both ps3 and xbox userbases. Very very few hardcore games that are a new ip have ever sold that many copies without being bundled with a console.
Lets just hope Nintendo can pull out of this without creating a virtual boy level disaster. They are going to have to start releasing more hard hitting titles and sucking up to 3rd parties if they want to survive this generation.

Besides working on a fresh ip won't sell as many units, I have no idea why they put there expectation at 5 million.

I noticed that as well when I tried to 'find' all of my downloads that would be compatible with my vita. Took forever to shift through a history that has a couple hundred downloads in a single list.
Those were simple days when nearly all the bugs could be found within a few months. Now games are so expansive and complex it is not feasible to find all bugs. But still, you would think developers could at least find more than they do.
Another reason is that nearly every entry level position requires 1-3 years experience and work on another game. Basically getting in for test is the way to go but test pays less than 10 bucks an hour. Who wants to go to college for 4 years to make that?!
Then there is the instability of the industry to contend with as well as entire months of crunch time with 60 hour standard workweeks.

People really got a kick out of bashing the ps3 for this entire generation. It's like they can't handle manning up and admitting that Sony had an excellent gamer-centric press conference. Instead irrelevant details are nitpicked to no end; even some of the gaming media is guilty of this.
Then again some just like trolling to see fan boy rage, but sometimes its really hard to tell the difference between trolling and denial.
