They'll hit a wall just like with resolution, graphics will get so good as real life then i don't know what will happen (hardware advancement wise) but it will be a while longer until that happens.
And resolution will only matter to a point where our eyes can't see any more difference, i think according to apple it seems to be around 200 pixels per inch, so depends on the res and size of screen you are viewing. I think this is why LCD's are shifting to have 12...
I have a good feeling about this running quite well on good hardware, it will apparently use ID tech 6, Wolfenstein N.O uses ID tech 5. I think it will look a bit better than that, noticeably but not hugely. Plus if the engine is any good then it should be well optimized.
I just hope there's a lot of possible interaction with the environment, Doom 3 didn't have much compared to HL2 and they were released pretty closely together back in 2004.
In no rush but hoping the newer cards can drive UE4 games @ 1080p/1440p without dipping much below 60fps, i might upgrade my aging i7 920 first and go x99.. best wait to see benchmarks i guess, not gonna waste money on something that aint much better.
Surely if not then someone will secretly record it.. Hopefully
As long as you play at 1080p or 1440p max.. not the overhyped and slow 4k xD
I thought the thing going around now was that girls just wanted to be known as gamers and not gamer girls because it seemed sexist? Yet this is titled GamerGirl.. right
4k is extremely overrated, and you need 2-3 high end gpu's to get good frame rates.
very expensive, hot, runs bad on games that don't support SLi/Xfire. And people expect a game with decent visuals on a console to run at 4k resolution?
1080p aint going anywhere for a long time, 1440p and 144hz is the best next logical step up.
4k is fine if you wan your games running badly at averages of 30-40fps, and dipping much lower than that frequently unless you have 2 high end cards which would need updating every 2 years.. Then you gotta deal with micro stutter. 4k won't be getting high frame rate game play for at least 2 or 3 years on a single affordable high end gpu. The next gpu's would have to be a 2-3x...
I'd say more size and other constraints rather than saying "it's shot in 24fps because our eyes can't see much higher" think about it, that's why games ARE smoother at 60fps and people can see a difference in motion smoothness even at 120fps and 144fps.
If movies were shot at higher frame rates it would increase the size a lot, plus i imagine increase editing time for films with a lot of CGI, taking a lot longer to complete the film.
I think that award would go to Valve without question..
True but now there's even 120hz and 144hz, 120hz is definitely nice if you can hit that high fps.. but anything a constant 60 is smooth, 120fps on 120hz is noticably smoother than 60fps as well to me but not as big a difference as it is from 30 to 60.
I hope the r9 390 is coming soon, i need a new GPU and i'd hate it if Nvidia have months of advantage to overprice theirs again.
Not likely, today you need good medium or close to high end cards or at least a 770-780, AMD r9 280x or 290 for 1080p or 1440p max.
No way we will get 4k playable on an affordable single card in 1-2 years, your'e lucky to get 30fps average and it dips even lower today.. awful performance. Only way you'd get decent frame rates is probably setting a newer game to low graphical settings.. defeating the purpose really.
1440p and 144hz will be the new stan...
I bought Wolfenstein for half price in the Steam sale, still can't play it.. my current HD 5870 only meets minimum requirements, wish new gfx cards would come out sooner.. agh
Can't always go by reviews either, i've played games with higher than average ratings like Halo and Dead Island, yet i don't think highly of them at all.
Just because a reviewer likes a certain game doesn't mean to say all players will just because of his review, i've played some games with scores of around 8 thinking they deserved slightly higher in the past a few times.
San Andreas MP mod on PC has 200 player Cops n Robbers servers that are still active today, in fact the server browser still shows a 2-3k people playing on the servers per day.
You don't die every 3 seconds with more players unless they are all bunched up in a small area.
More players are usually always better if you have a big map to do stuff in.
After playing Killing Floor and L4D1+2 so much, then going to Dead Island.. well, i was not impressed.. their games are just so broken and boring compared to Valve and Tripwire's game.
Considering you need at least 2 high end GPU's to get what would be considered a playable frame rate @ 4k i would not be touching it for years.
If anything 1440p will become the new standard for most gamers as that is the resolution that still gives good fps at high settings. In comparison to 4k you'd likely have to go to low settings on most games and medium on some just to be at a good speed with a high end card.
4k just has too many downsides right...
How is the PS4 going to drive a 1440p screen and at 60fps no less? Every game will need to be made especially for it to make sure it meets the requirements, they can't go high with the graphics or it will run too slow leading to motion sickness and stuff.
There are PC graphics cards just under 5 Tflops that aren't terribly expensive, and you most certainly can see the difference.
