But ND and Druckmann have specifically come out for being progressive and admitted putting in more diverse elements in every consecutive game.

This goes from Neil doing his speech how female's with curves are bad (and therefore MUST be overly sexualized) to ND staff attacking people on twitter for not taking some LGBT rights for granted (and I'm not talking hate speech, more like the choice of adressing someone with a certain pronoun, instead of being forced to say...

@SyntheticForm. I think a big point in how much people care for Abby, is how succesful ND has been with making players care for her by the end of the game. Some get more invested in her, and are willing to be forgetful, others like myself might care a bit, but not nearly as much as ND intended. And that's where you get the disconnect. Nothing to do with understanding the story, just personal involvement with the character.

ziggurat - not liking the story doesn't equal "not getting it". It would be wise to not generalize and dismiss comments because you make presumptions about them.

Well that's a bit of a generalization. Dislike = incel.

MGS2 controversy was actually similar but not in the way you're presenting it. It wasn't because Raiden had a more feminine figure that people disliked it, it's because in the demo (the opening level) you play as Snake and as such, people expected he would be the protagonist as in MGS1. So here again = unexpected protagonist (Abby), ironically also with an atypical build :D

Also, are...

IRetrouk - Again, yes: life in danger, anyone would take any route they could to get out alive. However, when on unknown grounds, surrounded by like 6-8 unknowns, it does seem unplausable to me that Joel and Tommy would instantly drop their guard and be like "hey I'm Joel, he's Tommy, we live a couple hours down the mountain". It's almost as if theyre one line short of sharing their hobbies and pet peeves.

In the very least I would expect them to have ...

SunGod - I hadn't commented on this forum for years, I think last comment was like 4000 days ago, before the whole LOU2 debacle. But when I kept seeing the same one side opinion being pushed upon others, making people with disagreeing opinions being pushed into the same 3 cubicles: LGBT-hater, xbot/troll, too stupid to understand the "deep story".

So, as to bring some counter balance to the discussion, I thought I'd try with a somewhat well versed opinion ...

IRetrouk - very interesting that I couldn't have played the game in your opinion. What you're doing is describing what happened, anyone who has eyes knows what went down and how it went down.

It's one thing to help each other out while attacked by a horde, and indeed seemed like their only option to follow Abby towards her friends. But 4 years of having learned to be more trusting does not equal dropping your guard instantly whenever their lives weren't in i...

I'm sure no one wanted COD/Fortnite kind of story. Most, I assume, are disappointed by the change in thinking/acting of characters that were established in the 1st game. Sure, it's been a few years, they're among people now, but that shouldn't warrant a total 180 in how they act. We expected a story on the level of TLOU1, not some nihilistic tale of revenge, that IMO wasn't executed well.

2068d ago 8 agree14 disagreeView comment

Though I wouldn't say it's boring, a big part of the gameplay is searching nooks and crannies for supplies. The bigger, more open areas compared to TLOU1 does make you spend more time scouring. So, in this regard I can understand how some people would consider gameplay to be more boring.

It had more technical issues at launch, so I can kind of see where reviewers were coming from, though most ended up too harsch IMO. Where it stands now, is a much more capable title, and one I would recommend to most people.

Don't forget the whole issue that Gamespot reviewer had, because the "zombies were white", even though it's something clearly explained in the story.

Yes, you guys. SunGod, Obelisk92 and sushimama are a few of the constant commentators I see in the threads about this game. YOU GUYS (a general accepted term for a group of people, regardless of gender) obviously like the game, but defend it to such an extent, where everyone with any criticism must be stupid, hateful or a troll.

Great that you liked it, but even with your hard headedness, you should be able to see that the game is divisive, and it's far from "the g...

Agree on the 1st point. Just like any ND game, it's pushing the technical side of things and that's what we've come to love and expect. Anyone denying that it isn't a graphical highlight for this console generation, is delusional.

Indeed, discussion is healthy. A lot of the rage by people who actually played the game is fueled by this aggrandisement of the game by professional reviewers. It's been a long time since there was such a disconnect between wha...

Well, aren't you doing absolutely the same, but the other way around. You guys won't let anyone say anything negative about the game, without getting all triggered.

2068d ago 0 agree4 disagreeView comment

Yeah, and the game wasn't as good for me, and some people hate it. Most people play games for fun. If they're not having fun, of course they'll be pissed.

Also, "just can't accept different opinions", ah your comment is hypocrisy in its purest form.

It's an important facet of any game. But do you really think people loved the first LOU because of it's great or innovative gameplay? It's a 9,5/10 game for me with it being greater than the sum of its part. A big contributor was the story. Gameplay is still the most important thing for any game, though when there's that much of a difference in story quality (IMO), the objectively improved gameplay does not instantly make TLOU2 a better game than the 1st.

2069d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

And here we go with the generalizations. I'm replying mostly to Obelisk92 here but you being a fan of the 1st and liking this, instantly makes anyone who liked the 1st, also love the 2nd? That's just flawed logic.

I understand certain fanboys posting anything even slightly negative can find can be exhausting but fans of the 1st can be critical of TLOU2. For me it's about an 8/10 game, definitely not a 0, but also not a 10. Fine if it's the holy grail for you...

Yep, just as it should be. It's ridiculous to see the hypocrisy in people clamoring "people that (dis)like TLOU2 must be/can only be...", hence saying "my opinion is right, and yours is wrong". Whatever happened to good, old argumentation. Bring on the facts and let people decide on that. Obviously a lot of people love this game, but it's not just trolls that won't rate it higher than a 7 or 8/10. Stop instantly dismissing and see if people actually bring up de...

Well, I think in most cases people would comment more on scores that we come across less. There's like 100+ 10/10's now, so what is there left to say in terms of praise? On the other hand, the lower reviews might be interesting for those that would like to see why some reviewers scored it lower.

No need to impose your insults on people just because they'd be more interested in one review over another.

That being said, it's not that it'...

If you appreciate the taken direction, more power to you. Glad you enjoyed the experience. However, when Druckman makes a polarizing experience (he said it himself that it would divide people), it's more than unusual that TLOU2 would be unanimously praised.

Though there are small minded people and trolls hating the game for purely minor elements, the game is far from perfect. Competent arguments have been given and will continue to be voiced. I think the review from Upp...
