i play games to be entertained, not practice my faith.
besides, i remember Bible Adventures on the NES...*shudder*
i was born and raised in the church, and i have a strong belief in God, but i also love all sorts of games, from God of War to Metal Gear, to Silent Hill.
i'm the type of guy that doesn't feel the need to impose my beliefs onto other people.
i think religion can be handled maturely and respectfully in video games, but most of th...
i just bought Way of the Samurai 3 earlier this week, and by any sort of gaming standards, it is a pretty average game, but i absolutely LOVE IT. if i had based my purchasing decisions on any reviews i've read for the game, i'd have passed it up.
gaming is much more fun when you buy the games that interest you, and not the games that people tell you you should like.
moving on.
a few clarifications though:
MGS4 doesn't use any Pre-Rendered cutscenes. anyone who's actually played the game would know that whatever Octocamo/Masks Snake is wearing in game will be displayed in each cutscene. if you shake the controller, you will deactivate the Octocamo in real time, and it will revert to it's standard skin.
also, you can press UP on the Digital Pad, and zoom into the cutscene, and use the analog stick to scroll around the image. i do this to loo...
trust me, use it, and use it often. it makes this place SO MUCH BETTER.
stepping it up this year with graphics.
for 4+ years now, Gears of War has been the benchmark for ALL 360 games.
games like Alan Wake and Splinter Cell: Conviction show that the 360 is indeed capable of more than just beefcakes with guns.
i'm not too interested in Splinter Cell: Conviction (although i may give it a shot when it releases), but i AM really excited about Alan Wake. survival horror is one of my favorite genres, and AW is looking to do it jus...
Cold got all butthurt with me and used his alt accounts to attack my bubbles.
it's amusing to me that he thinks i actually CARE about the bubble system.
anyway, as i said before, Crysis was a prime example of inflated scores due to hype.
i most certainly feel the game should be recognized and praised for it's technological merits, but as a game, it was pretty standard FPS stuff. i guess it's just me, but i didn't find it very compelling.
EVER saying Uncharted 2 was going to redefine ANYTHING, let alone action games.
besides, Uncharted is more of an Action/Adventure series, than an Action series.
when i think of Action, i think of Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta, games that are pretty much just straight up action games. you could remove the plot and story, and just have arena after arena of battling enemies, and you'd be fine in those games.
with games like Uncharted and God of War, however, th...
i updated, and so far it's been working perfectly fine.
i LOVE anecdotal evidence *rolls eyes*
and i've also worked as a QA Tester for quite a few years.
i was damn good at my job also.
being a QA tester really only requires a handful of things:
1) An attention to detail.
2) An ability to think outside of the box.
3) An ability to turn off the "gamer" part of you (it's not easy, but it's certainly doable), so you can accomplish 1 and 2 more efficiently.
4) Patience. LOTS of patience.
the job is dull and mon...
with me, my wife, our TV, our bed, our computer desk, our bookshelves, etc, there is NO WAY we'd be able to get any semblance of use out of Natal. Move as well, although there might be a better chance of us being able to use that.
in either case, the games will speak for themselves. we've yet to see any games from Natal, so let's all just wait until E3, or WHENEVER Microsoft decides to show some stuff off, before we make any judgments or declarations.
this article is...
if you are pixel counting.
most of the time, say, 95% of the time, the differences are so negligible that you, literally, have to have two TVs running next to each other to notice ANY differences.
i had DMC4 running on the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and i would switch between the two outputs, just to see if i could see "major" differences. they looked almost identical.
there have definitely been a few multi-plats that have been BLATANTLY better on t...
wanting the extended editions.
sure, they add a LOT more screen time to the films, but man, does it make them BETTER films for it, in particular Return of the King, which felt EXTREMELY cut up in the theatrical release. when i got the EE version of ROTK, i was like, "holy crap! this is MUCH better!"
my wife has yet to see ANY of the extended editions yet (just the theatrical releases), so i'll wait until i can get them in high def glory before i sit her dow...
a week or two ago. great stuff.
the God of War series soundtrack is definitely one of the best in the industry.
i don't think some folks realize how important music is to the overall experience of a game/movie, etc.
some of my favorite series music:
Castlevania series
Metal Gear Solid series
Halo series
Final Fantasy series
God of War series
Ico/Shadow of the Colossus
Silent Hill series
Chrono Trigge...
but my budget just couldn't handle the constantly changing standards.
at least, with a console, i don't have to upgrade any components to enjoy the latest games. i remember i spent about $300 on a new graphics card for my old computer, only to have it not be able to play a single HD game (ie, Bioshock, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, etc), because it didn't have a particular shader. granted, this was quite a few years ago, but i assumed, at a $300 (USD) asking price, i'd be able to,...
to me, Super Nintendo is, hands down, the BEST Nintendo console they have EVER created. i enjoyed my Gamecube, but the NES and SNES were simply incredible consoles, and the library of the SNES was unparalleled.
i still have my SNES, but i usually end up just playing my games on an emulator on either the PC or my PSP, simply because i don't feel like digging around in my closet and hooking up the SNES on my HDTV. lol.
for me being a long time Nintendo gamer, the Wii R...
but honestly, i prefer my consoles to have a DIVERSE, and DISTINCT library of games.
i own an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3. WHY would i want both consoles to have the exact same games?
i got a 360 so i could play Fable, Mass Effect, Crackdown, Alan Wake, etc, and all the other good games EXCLUSIVE to the system.
i got a PS3 so i could play God of War, Uncharted, Ratchet, MGS4, and all the other good games EXCLUSIVE to the system.
i can under...

*hunts for air spray*
but it's coming this fall, and at least we've SEEN something from it.
Natal is still in the speculative phase.
i know E3 is in June, and MS will more than likely have a blowout, but Game Developers Conference is SPECIFICALLY TARGETED to show off your new game development tools/technology, to jazz up developers for working on your platform.
Microsoft was practically ABSENT at GDC when it came to Natal.
i'd like for it to deliver on the promis...
those are some f*cked up looking people!
it's kind of funny when you look at old "red carpet" pictures of old celebs like Betty Davis, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, etc. those folks had style, and class, even if they DID have skeletons in their closet.
the modern day celebrity lacks style, class, and signed their skeletons to a reality show contract.
the film industry back then, while no less debaucherous and sleezy, at least had a lot more digni...
