the interview was definitely interesting, but the footage they used was from the old TGS build from *LAST year, which was basically a sort of in engine mock up of what they wanted the game to be at the time.
since then, the art style has changed quite a bit, though it's no less jaw-droppingly beautiful.
what i like about Level 5, is that they made a pre-vis video that actually seemed *ATTAINABLE, and have met, and in a lot of ways, *EXCEEDED that initial pre-vis....
keep their PS2s.
just because you buy the new system, doesn't mean you have to get rid of the old system.
besides, i honestly think, that due to consumer pestering, they will eventually "swap positions," and once again continue support of BC. remember the rumble thing? yeah, something like that.
but the truth is that i stopped playing Playstation 1 games on my Playstation 2 by the end of the first year i got my PS2. by that point, i was playing GTA3, Ico, Onimusha, MGS2, and some other really cool games.
right now, the only PS2 games i've been playing on my Playstation 3 have been FFXII, Rogue Galaxy, and God of War 2, since i gave my PS2 to my roommate.
as disappointing as i ultimately think it is to nix BC with this 40gig PS3, the fact is we buy *NEW s...
and while i know, perception wise, and hype wise, Resistance and Warhawk aren't up there with Halo 3, those two titles alone offer the best multi-player gaming on the Playstation 3, so, for the sole Playstation 3 owners out there, it's not like they are missing out on quality online gaming. with the added bonus being that to play online on the PS3 is free, and not a paid subscription.
then there's the multi-platform games. as long as Assassin's Creed, Army of Two, Devil May Cry...
i'm not sure what Microsoft's shareholders are willing to sacrifice to counter the PS3 price drop.
i mean, MS stated, categorically to their investors that they planned on turning a profit in 2007. as far as i know, they've succeeded at that (Live subscriptions, periphial sales, etc). i'm not sure if they'd want to go back in the hole again.
and even if they did, i think Sony still has the value proposition to pimp.
look at it this way:
<...
there's some pretty solid FPS games coming, and pretty solid FPS games out.
if you don't own a 360, but have a PS3, there's
The Darkness (cool story and atmosphere; also a rather unique FPS due to Jackie's powers)
Rainbow Six Vegas
Ghost Recon: AW 2 (not an FPS, but 3rdPS; still really good. it's basically a 3rd person Rainbow Six)
Call of Duty 4
then there's the PS3 exclusives
Haze (made by Free Radical, who made such g...
is that the console has sold 4 million units at a $500/$600 asking price.
what do you honestly think it's going to sell at a $400 asking price?
what's even more interesting, is that not all of the diehard Playstation 3 fans jumped on board this past 10 months *BECAUSE of that $500/$600 asking price.
but $400? i still have hardcore Playstation friends of mine simply *WAITING for that price drop to happen. my buddy had his 360 die on him, then it got...
because his third 360 still hasn't come back from the shop, and he's got some time to kill.
in honor of this, i'll leave my PS3 on 24/7 for the rest of this month, *THEN, jam non-stop on Ratchet, Folklore, and Uncharted *NEXT month. just because, you know, i *CAN.
do you have a 40" or bigger PC monitor, though?
a 40" or bigger PC monitor capable of displaying at a resolution higher than 720p-1080p?
just wondering, because, i don't think i've seen PC monitors that big.
all that matters is that those folks out there that have an older 1080i only set, are covered for this game. this is a good thing. stop trying to downplay it.
i have a 40" 720p/1080i LCD Samsung, and when swapping ...
lol.
my reasoning?
prior to E3 2007, Ubisoft Montreal were saying how they had a demo planned for the game, and were really excited about it. they were coy, but it was implied that it would be a PC, Live, and PSN demo release.
flash forward to E3 2007, and the Microsoft press conference, when Jade Raymond and her pal demoed the game live. the floating guy glitch happened, and the *GAMING PRESS community at large pounced on it, and it was all "is there something w...
i'm not a Halo or Duke Nukem fan, but i thought that was really funny. and clever.
Naughty Dog confirmed back in 2006, that that original trailer was running on their early build of the game. nothing in the trailer, or these screenshots, was target CGI, it was all ingame, so either way you cut it, the game has always looked *FANTASTIC.
outside of the new model for Elena, i like the current build *INFINITELY better than the old build (there's nothing wrong with the more glamorous Elena model, i just liked the idea of an average; read "regular" lookin...
but i'll play devil's advocate for a second.
for the record, i *DO think the GTA4 07 listing is probably an error on the site's part, *BUT, going back to the devil's advocate, the fact of the matter is that software generates console sales.
the Playstation 3 needs software.
if, by some wacky rift in the space/time continuum GTA4 releases on the Playstation 3 for this year, *MILLIONS of GTA fans would flock to the Playstation 3 to get their hands on...
they are simply referring to the *COVER SYSTEM.
obviously, they aren't talking about the graphics, because the two game's art direction are *VASTLY different from one another.
and they obviously aren't talking about *PLOT, because Nathan isn't running around shooting aliens and sawing them in half with a chainsaw.
Naughty Dog has stated that the cover system is heavily inspired by Gears of War.
personally, i think Gears of War is ve...
flaming? i think not.
you should have noted that i mentioned that games like Gears of War, Bioshock, and Mass Effect are shining examples of what the 360 can do, but there are developers out there, many developers, to be honest, that *ARE NOT harnessing that power.
outside of the three titles i mentioned above, very few 360 titles can compare.
the same can be said of PS3 games, but the difference is, the 360 has been out on the market for nearly 24...
how many X Box 360 games looked as good as Uncharted during it's first year?
for that matter, how many 360 games looked as good as Uncharted, Lair, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Unreal Tournament 3, and Ratchet and Clank Future?
the benefit of the Playstation 3's release a year after the 360, is that the first generation titles are looking as good as the second generation of 360 titles, and the *SECOND generation of Playstation 3 titles are looking pretty da...
i could care less about Skate, but i watched my roommate play it last night, and i honestly didn't notice any framerate hitching.
maybe it was there, but i just didn't see it, but i highly doubt it.
what's interesting to me, is that multi-platform games seem to have more issues with framerate on the PS3, than 1st and 2nd party and exclusive games, with the exception of Lair.
i never noticed any framerate issues in Ninja Gaiden, VF5, Warhawk, and H...
that Halo 3 isn't necessarily killing these 360's, but i think the game is probably taxing the system, which could lead to hardware strain, and *MAYBE cause the Red Rings.
the hardware issues of the 360 are well known, so it has *NOTHING to do with the game itself.
my roommate's 360 has suddenly started experiences issues (it wouldn't boot up the other day), and another friend of mine has already had his 360 go to console heaven (yet to get it back from repair), ...
with a disc this big, imagine compilation series, such as the entire Castlevania series from the NES, to the portables, to the PS2 on one disc.
Final Fantasy series (i've been talking about this with my fiance ever since i heard about 25 and 50 gig Blu Rays)
Metal Gear Series
Mega Man series
Devil May Cry series (including 4)
Resident Evil series (0-5, and the spin offs)
Dragon Quest/Warrior series
Xenosaga series
.hack series ...
