is that Sony *OWNS the IP for Uncharted, so even if Naughty Dog *WANTED to make a 360 version (or even a Wii version), they couldn't, because they don't own the Uncharted IP. Sony also owns the IPs to Ratchet, Resistance, Motorstorm, Infamous, White Knight Chronicles, and a few others.
unlike Microsoft, they actually *BUY the IP, instead of trying to buy the studios that make them. they understand that it's the *NAME VALUE, the brand recognition, that the average consumer ralli...
but i've experienced severe framerate drops, constant texture pop-in (particularly in cutscenes, and when going into the "Squad" menu, but also while simply running around the map), and the action being interrupted by tedious load times.
i do agree, however, that Uncharted and Mass Effect are on totally different levels.
Uncharted: sharp graphics (no hazy filter over the world, giving it a fuzzy, almost blurred look), no load times (barring the initial ...
the *HORRIBLE texture pop-in
*SEVERE framerate issues
and *RIDICULOUS loading every few seconds (call me spoiled by Uncharted, which has *NO loading outside of when you first boot up the game, or load a save)
then i'll probably give it a shot, if it comes to the PS3. i've played Mass Effect on my roommate's 360. great story and universe, but the technical issues really, *REALLY take me out of the game. and it's not just every once in a while (ie, in Unreal Tournam...
since i bought my PS3 in February of this year, and when they became available in firmware updates, so i hadn't been having this issue, which is why i was always confused with the comparison videos i'd see.
a few weeks ago, i was playing around with the RGB and Super White settings, and it really is a big difference.
especially if you do it with a game like Uncharted, which is very colorful. even *THAT looked washed out significantly with the settings turned to L...
playing any of the videos from my hard drive, barring one or two.
all my HD game videos and trailers play just fine (and in glorious HD to boot, with no artifacts).
most of my vids are Xvid and Divx, and i haven't had any issues.
this story seems really, *REALLY false.
i don't understand how people can be so overzealous in their hatred or like for a product that they need to *MAKE UP falsities just to feel better about themselves and...
next year is filled with so many awesome games hitting the PS3, that if GoW 3 makes it by December 2008, it's just extra frosting on an already sweet cake.
after tearing through GTAIV, Infamous, White Knight Chronicles, FFXIII (maybe), Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, MGS4, LA Noire, Heavy Rain, and so many others, i don't know if my fingers and thumbs could take next gen God of War.
i'm not holding my breath if it'll release by the end of 2008, but i wouldn't comp...
if maybe, perhaps Gamestop employees would actually *LEARN about what new titles are coming out for the PS3, instead of constantly pimping 360s.
i went into the Gamestop my roommate works at before Uncharted and Eye of Judgment released, and i asked if i could pre-order them.
the guy didn't even know what i was talking about.
"is it a 360 game?" he asked.
i was like, "No, they're Playstation 3 titles. exclusives."...
apparently Super Mario Galaxy. lol.
sorry, i couldn't resist.
i agree that after Tomb Raider 2, the series went downhill, but Legends, and Anniversary are most certainly two steps in the right direction.
personally, i like Uncharted's straightforward gameplay, but there's always a place in my heart for Lara; *WHENEVER they actually get the games right (ie, Legends and Anniversary).
The Internet: The biggest game of "Telephone" in the world.
Insomniac never said "Yeah, Miyamoto took the idea for Super Mario Galaxy from our spherical worlds in the Ratchet and Clank series. We rock."
they said, "it *WOULD be cool *IF the spherical worlds in Super Mario Galaxy were inspired by the spherical worlds in Ratchet and Clank."
some people *SERIOUSLY have a problem with reading comprehension nowadays.
...
*BUT, i'm a huge Tomb Raider fan, so i'll definitely be picking this up.
i don't understand all the trash talk, though (ie, Tomb Raider fans ripping on Uncharted, and Uncharted fans ripping on Tomb Raider), i mean, isn't there room for more than *ONE >insert exotic locale here< spelunking, streetwise and witty adventurer in gaming?
personally, the more the merrier, if you as me. Tomb Raider is known for it's puzzles, Uncharted, for it's frenetic action. win...
is that it's a bunch of PC gamers, or at least, gamers who were privileged enough to have a PC at the time Unreal and it's successors released, that they forget that a lot of console gamers have *NEVER PLAYED an Unreal game before, and therefore, the "tried and true" gameplay of previous Unreals make *NO DIFFERENCE whatsoever to us.
i never played the Unreal games before, so Unreal Tournament 3 is as fresh as it gets to me. i don't care if it's just Unreal 2k4, or *WH...
do any of you guys remember when console versions of games couldn't come *CLOSE to matching the PC counterparts?
hmmm...i thought not.
the fact that the PS3 version of Unreal is even *COMPARABLE to the PC version is impressive enough for me.
also, i didn't have to spend a buttload of money to upgrade my PS3 to play the game properly.
in all honesty, it's a win/win for everyone;
the PC gamers who are fortunate to have high-end ...
as to why Orange Box would get an 9/10, and Uncharted would get an 8, and Ratchet and Clank Future a 7
Uncharted - PS3 Exclusive
Ratchet and Clank - PS3 Exclusive
Orange Box - *MULTIPLATFORM - reviewers dare not speak ill of a game you can also get on the 360. i mean, if they do, they can't use the tried and true "well, if i were you, i'd get the 360 version over the PS3" they've been patenting all year.
personally, Valve, and EA c...
but i don't have a Gamecube anymore, so i can't play the Tales games (unless there's one on the PS2 that i don't know about).
we were thinking about Star Ocean, and we may pick it up. thanks!
i was really looking forward to Orange Box, but after that idiot Gabe Newell's retarded remarks about the Playstation 3, then handing off development of the PS3 version of Orange Box to another (and EA) company, while they tenderly stroked the head of the PC and 360 version and read it bedtime stories with milk and cookies, i've decided screw Valve, and especially Gabe Newell and EA. as a consumer, and hardcore gamer for over 20 years (been playing strong since the NES in 1985), i refuse to j...
me and my fiance are constantly looking for co-op games to play together, but there's not much out there.
we ultimately end up playing dungeon crawlers (ie, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, X-Men Legends, etc), and games like Lego Star Wars.
we played Resistance for a bit, but we haven't in a while. she prefers 3rd person games over shooters. what she really wants, is a co-op game like Oblivion (her favorite game at the moment), so we can play together.
you wouldn't have places like ign complaining that Lost Odyssey has PS2 like animations.
the truth of the matter is, graphics are vitally important to gaming. always have been, always will be.
remember, at the time, Super Mario Bros on the NES was considered one of the best-looking games of all time, as well as one of the best playing.
graphics establish mood, tone, setting, and believability.
would Uncharted: Drake's Fortune have b...
i would have kept it to the Playstation 3 exclusives (afterall, exclusives are a lot of the reason why some folks choose one system over the other).
my list would be
10.) Folklore - beautiful, haunting, intriguing. unique gameplay, and effectively uses the Sixaxis motion controls for capturing folks.
9.) Motorstorm - one of the best offroad racers out there. great visuals, fantastic crashes, and fun races. lots of downloadable content.

or maybe it's just their reading comprehension is bad
but, what the guy said was "an animation system that looks like it was ported straight from a PS2 engine."
this doesn't mean that the graphics are like a Playstation 2 game, but that the animation system is outdated. basically, Uncharted it ain't.
he also said that if you've played a Playstation 2 RPG, you'll be in familiar territory.
what this means, to me at least, is...
those *EXTRA 360 games like the gems Vampire Rain, Bomberman: Act Zero, Two Worlds, Superman Returns, Bullet Witch, Tenchu Z, and Over G fighters are really worth writing home about. *rolls eyes*
look, the 360 has, truly, about 10 games worth trying out for it that are exclusive; Halo 3, Gears of War, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Crackdown, Project Gotham Racing, Forza 2, and Viva Pinata. everything else is multi-platform, or mediocre.
the Pla...
