that's the title i really want to learn more about. more than MGS4, more than Resistance 2, more than Killzone 2, more than Little Big Planet, more than Home, and everything else hitting the Playstation 3 this year.
why?
because i *KNOW MGS4, Resistance, Killzone 2, LBP, and Home are going to be *GREAT.
i've been waiting for a genuine super-hero game for a *LONG time. and i mean a superhero game in which i'm not being forced to live by moral standards (w...
Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary.
personally, Tomb Raider 2 was my favorite of the series, but it's too hard to play nowadays (besides the hideous visuals, Lara controls like a tank, and it's just not very precise).
both TR Legend and TR Anniversary are *GREAT Tomb Raider games. if you enjoy action/adventure titles with nice puzzles (think Prince of Persia, minus the focus on extreme acrobatics), you'll probably enjoy the series. the stories are also so...
that people are basing their opinions of Uncharted off of a *DEMO.
the Uncharted demo is really good, actually, but the complete game? there is just nothing else like it on the market.
it's true that the Tomb Raider series has the puzzle/exploring element on lock down, but that doesn't make Uncharted any less of a great game.
the story, the acting, the gunfights, the platforming, and of course, the graphics, are *INCREDIBLE.
what i don't und...
but Tomb Raider and Uncharted are *COMPLETELY different series.
you know how, say, Splinter Cell and Metal Gear are in the same "stealth action" genre, but they are *COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES? yeah, Uncharted and Tomb Raider are the same way.
Uncharted focuses on intense gunfights and platforming.
Tomb Raider focusing on puzzles and exploration.
they just happen to be in the "pulp action" genre. doesn't mean they're the ...
*HOW did they get shafted?
what does the trim have to do with being able to play *EVERY GAME on the console?
and Wi Fi? that can be remedied with any USB Wi Fi adaptor. also, the 20gig *DOES come with an ethernet cable, so you can always, you know, just *PLUG IT IN.
things like memory stick readers can also be added using a USB adaptor.
all models of the Playstation 3 have a hard drive (so developers don't have to worry about an entire segme...
the PS3's primary issue was it's price.
that is no longer an issue. the PS3 is $400, a *GREAT entry price, especially considering everything included in the console and the fact that Blu Ray has won the format war.
as for games, there are *PLENTY quality games on the Playstation 3, both exclusive and multi-platform.
contrary to popular belief, Resistance, Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Folklore, Ratchet and Clank Future, Unreal ...
but who knows if it's bubble will burst or not? right now, everybody and their mama (literally), is going ga ga over it.
i don't really think the console has legs, but i'm not Nostradamus either.
i'll say this on the matter, however:
one of my close friends is a *HUGE Nintendo fanatic. me, him, and my roommate always get into these fanboy arguments with each other, us teasing him about loving Nintendo, and him teasing us about being Playstation fanboys. ...
City of Heroes/City of Villains or Guild Wars on the PS3.
be even better if you didn't have pay the monthly fee for COH/COV.
at how someone could take offense to his quote.
i mean, Miyamoto is in fact, *LIMITING his developers by asking "why would you put a gun on a car?"
when he should have been asking "why *WOULDN'T YOU put a gun on a car?"
the truth of the matter is that you put a gun on a car because it's a *FUN GAMEPLAY MECHANIC.
the truth of the matter is that you make a Go-Kart use banana peels as a weapon because it's a *FUN GAMEPLAY ME...
i'm keeping my expectations in check, but everything i said has been in line with what is possible not only on the PS3 and it's networking capabilities, but in Home as well.
it's not unreasonable to think that, instead of say, coming into N4G during events like GDC, E3, Leipzig, and TGS to get our gaming news, logging into Home and the PSN, and following the developments *LIVE as they happen.
that's probably the element of Home i'm most excited about; the opportunity...
i can see home opening the doors up for a lot more females to get into games.
my fiance is obsessed with games like Wow, City of Heroes, and Oblivion, because you get to create a character. i think she spent more time creating different avatars than actually *PLAYING the games (well, that's not entirely true, but she does have a *LOT of avatars).
also, a friend of mine's wife was absolutely obsessed with the SIMS. she never actually played the game, but she'd spend *...
shouldn't you be farting on people in Super Smash Bros. Brawl?
you know that just released in Japan this week, right? you're late! get to Japan asap!
oh yeah, and i agree; Home is looking rather fantastic.
more educated guesses from "surfergirl:"
let's see, Resistance 2 has been announced for release in November of this year, right?
we've seen screenshots of a game that is looking rather far along, and beyond just the pre-alpha or alpha stage, correct?
what even is coming up in February, where developers get together and talk about their fancy new technology (which Resistance 2, no doubt is utilizing)? GDC.
it doesn't take a monkey ...
example:
developer makes game for 360 and PS3. because of difficulties in PS3 development (lack of tools, laziness, etc), the 360 version is superior. word gets out that 360 versions of multi-plat games (they don't even have to be from the same developer), and that becomes the common consensus amongst gamers. from that point gamers, gamers refuse to buy the PS3 version of *ANY multi-platform titles, regardless if the difference in quality is minimal, or even outright non-existent...
HD DVD is much more enjoyable when it's been anthropomorphized.
you crack me up, HD DVD!
now go die already.
English speaking countries this year, but i certainly expect the Japanese version to hit this year. they've been working on this game since before the Playstation 3 was *ANNOUNCED, so i think Square-Enix is being coy, and not leading on how close to completion FFXIII actually is.
i feel this way because Square has been one of the biggest companies concerned about the sales of the Playstation 3.
they are skittish to release such a huge game on the Playstation 3 with i...
Wii: the Wii is selling well in NA, UK, and Japan, but the technology is limiting. you can still do artistic games like Okami and Viewtiful Joe on the Wii, but your scope is ultimately limited by the technology if you want to go bigger.
X Box 360: selling well in NA, medicore to ok in the UK, and piss-poor in Japan. not really the best bet. if you make the game "too Western" you stand to alienate more Japanese gamers. of course, if you make the game "too Japanese,&...
but i think the PS3 is in a better position than MS is in terms of variety. right now, even Microsoft's announced 360 lineup so far is still catering to that hardcore, shooter-obsessed core 360 audience.
in the meantime, Sony has not only shown us their diversity (Heavy Rain, Infamous, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Folklore, Little Big Planet, flOwer, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Warhawk, PSN games, Singstar, Eye of Judgment, Motorstorm 2, Echocrome, etc), but they h...
is that the number of people buying Playstation 3's for it's Blu Ray functionality is irrelevant to Sony, honestly.
i mean, if people are buying the PS3 for Blu Ray movies. Sony wins on a few fronts:
1.) Sony doesn't make money if people are buying Blu Ray players from *OTHER manufacturers. so a Blu Ray player via PS3 is money in Sony's pocket. win.
2.) the fact that the consumer is buying a PS3 for Blu Rays means that they are buying Blu Ray movies. Son...
i mean, it's kind of fun to rag on Halo for being 640p because it's a flagship 360 title, but in reality, it's not a big deal.
as for DMC4, all i know, is that it looked really good running on my 40" 720p LCD Samsung, and played just as well.
as long as the visuals are nice and sharp (which they were), that's HD enough for me.
yes, Capcom promised 1080p 60fps, or whatever, but you know what, measures need to be taken to get the game to perform at it...
