Lair delivered on every aspect except the controls unfortunately (the key area in the game). the graphics were fantastic, the music was fantastic, the story was, well, not fantastic, but it was a really good story. the mission structure was also varied and interesting, especially considering that you were flying on a dragon the entire game. the problem, was that Factor 5 were being stubborn @sses, and refused to give us an option to turn *OFF the motion controls. i plugged in a PC controller ...

just a note,

multi-platform games are not a good basis to judge a console's power, and for simple reasons:

when a developer is forced to make a game for more than one platform, their resources have to be split in order to work on both projects at the same time.

i used to work for Activision a few years back and basically, they have *ONE TEAM work on all versions of the game. for example, Treyarch, would have to learn how to develop version of Spid...

i'll have to prioritize which games i pick up, and it's a no brainer that a lot of the Sony titles are going to be on my shelf *(LBP, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Infamous), and GTAIV and MGS4 are a no brainer as well. at the very *LEAST, these 6 titles will be in my collection this year. and Lego Batman (me and my fiance are *DYING to get our hands on this one; we've played the hell out of ...

1. Infamous - i'm really looking forward to this game
2. Metal Gear Solid 4 - can't wait to finish Snake's story
3. Little Big Planet - it doesn't get any cuter than this
4. White Knight Story - Level 5 = "The New Square-Enix"
5. Heavy Rain - i'm expecting it to hit this year, and Indigo Prophecy was great
6. LA Noire - Rockstar + open world 1950s era detective story set in Los Angeles = day one purchase
7. Final Fantasy XIII - i'm not expec...

the Playstation 3 have to do with this story?

if i recall, this article is about Alan Wake, an *X Box 360 and PC game.

i'm glad you like your 360, and enjoy it's games, but that has absolutely *NOTHING to do with the Playstation 3.

who the hell disagreed?

i mean, am i *NOT looking forward to Alan Wake?

have we *NOT heard much about the title since it was revealed?

do i *NOT want to hear what Remedy has to say about the game at GDC?

seriously, people. jesus.

and to think, it's still, at the least, 9 months away!

that's 9 months development time, and true polishing doesn't really get underway until the last 3 months or so of development.

i'm expecting Resistance 2 to look even *BETTER by the time it launches.

me and my PS3 will be weeping tears of *JOY due to all the awesome gaming goodness hitting this year.

it's been ages since i heard anything new about it.

i'll be following their GDC talks for sure.

as i have a 360 and PS3, and the only difference i noticed was that the PS3 version seemed a little darker than the 360 version, and the bumper buttons on the 360 aren't as comfortable (for *ME), as the PS3's R1 button, but i attribute that to the fact that i've been using the Playstation controller for over 10 years, and i'm simply used to it.

i'd make a big fuss, and contest the differences, but the complete ridiculousness of the fanboys here has astounded me.

for 60 *YEARS.

they know how to manufacture products, and over time, reduce cost of manufacturing said products.

it's funny to me how Sony was criticized for damn near *THREE YEARS (we've known Blu Ray was going to be in the PS3 way prior to the E3 price announcement) about the Blu Ray move, and now everyone is praising them and patting them on the back.

the term "fickle media" has never before been proved so apt than it has been during t...

extreme TV of *SUCK, because i have an X Box 360, and i have a Playstation 3.

i've downloaded the DMC4 demo on the PS3, and it truly looks *NOTHING like these "screenshots."

i'm playing the game on a 40" 720p LCD Samsung, the PS3 connected via HDMI, with RGB Full and Super White turned on.

looking at these screens, and looking at my television, show me two *TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS.

i just downloaded and played the 360...

the answer to your question is pretty straightforward:

game developers *LOVE to play with new toys.

looking at the original X Boxes capabilities, and looking at the Playstation 2 and even Gamecube's capabilities, it's easy to see why developers would absolutely *JUMP at the chance to get their hands on technology that, at the time, was on par, and even better, than most PCs available.

the things that a console like the 360 could do, back in 2005, w...

to loffeldclan: actually, i *COULD see the attachment rates of the PS3 going up.

why? simply because i've been gaming a long time, but you honestly don't have to go back any further than the "last generation."

history has a very interesting way of repeating itself.

the Playstation 2 launched a year after the Dreamcast.
the Playstation 3 was launched a year after the X Box 360.
the Dreamcast had sold, roughly 8 million units ...

i just listened to the entire podcast, and i didn't hear a single thing like, Payton saying, "there won't be an MGS4 demo."

in fact, they don't really mention an MGS4 demo at all. they talk about certain sites making bold, and ultimately false statements, and site ZOE3 as an example, but he never says no MGS4 demo.

he simply says that the magazine was false when it said, "by the time you have this magazine in your hands, the demo will be on the PSN...

no Infamous?
no White Knight Story?
no Resistance 2?

what kind of PS3 list is this?

no Heavy Rain (possibly out this year)?
no LA Noire (also possibly out this year)?

meh, this list, while not god awful, has some pretty questionable omissions.

last generation, at least for the Playstation 2, when a game would sell 500,000 units, it was inducted into the Playstation 2 Greatest Hits line of games.

nowadays, people think that if a game doesn't sell 17 million copies on day one, it's a failure.

i also think it's kind of funny that people think games will cost upwards of $20 million to develop *FOREVER.

you *DO know that, as experience with the platform increases, developers find ways to lowe...

If Team Ico released the original Ico over the PSN, with upgraded to HD visuals.

the game was on a *CD back then, so it could be a gig or two download. charge about $10-$15 for it, as a sort of primer for whatever *TWO GAMES Team Ico is cooking up for the PS3.

i was playing Ico on my PS3 a few months ago, and the upscaling of that year one game is pretty terrible. tons of jaggies and what not. still the same great game, and same emotional impact, just not too pre...

1.2 million units sold in the UK in the month of December

yeah, that's *REALLY slow growing...*rolls eyes*

i don't remember how many PS3 units were sold in Japan over the holidays.

anyway, FFXIII is an RPG. not only is it an RPG, but it is Square-Enix's *PREMIERE RPG. they will do nothing short but pull off all the stops for this title.

pulling out all the stops takes time.

i'm not denying the difficulties of programmi...
