good month in Japan.
the key would then be to try and continue that momentum through the holiday season and beyond.
i'm looking forward to Tales and Infinite Undiscovery, the problem is that i don't really have time for an RPG, and i still have a back catalog of RPGs from LAST generation to get through. *sigh* it sucks being an adult sometimes...
game sold over 1 million units. does that mean that game is awesome? no.
as for Too Human, i played the demo, and it wasn't very fun, nor was it complete garbage, but i'm intrigued by the world and story, and i really love Silicon Knights games, so, at the least, i'll rent it, at the most, i'll bite the bullet and buy it.
i don't base my purchasing decisions on other people's opinions (ie, reviews) unless they are someone who's opinion i generally trust (ie, friends...
but 93/100 is REALLY pushing it.
for me, the good:
Story and world. Silicon Knights knows how to craft a good tale and interesting world (see: Eternal Darkness), and the combination of Norse Mythology and a futuristic setting have me more than intrigued.
the bad (or, more accurately, the things i don't really care for):
combat on the right analog stick just isn't enjoyable, and it's simply more fun for me personally to push some button combi...
i never got the whole "i'm waiting for the ONE GAME to rule them all and get me to purchase XXX system" mentality that permeates people's thinking these days.
would i have bought my PS3 for JUST Little Big Planet? i don't know, honestly, as i've had plenty reasons to pick up a PS3, and LBP hasn't even seen release yet.
i bought my PS3 for
Resistance
Motorstorm
Virtua Fighter
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Heavenly Sword
Lair ...
i'm pretty sure the last paragraph sums it up in a way to make the first, what, eleventy billion unnecessary.
thanks for trying though. bubbles to you!
SOCOM: Confrontation
Wipeout HD
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Valkyria Chronicles
Disgaea 3
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
for the PS3 list of exclusives yet to release this year.
anyway, third party exclusives aren't dead.
with MGS4 selling 4 million units on the PS3, developers/publishers see that the PS3 is just as capable as the 360 in bringing in sales for exclusive titles.
with the PS3 also being a viable c...
enjoyed the R&C series, but it wasn't until Tools of Destruction that i became a full on fan.
i'll be picking up Quest for Booty this month, and i'll definitely be looking forward to another R&C next year.
Insomniac have said many times that they plan on releasing a quality game a year, but still maintain a 2 year development cycle per title (it helps maintain that quality).
like somebody said before;
Resistance: 2006
Ratchet a...
most of us, whether we own just one console, or both of them (like me), won't be able to afford all of the exclusives on this list anyway, let alone all the cool multi-platform titles hitting also.
here is my personal list of games that are on my buy list this year:
Consoles:
Fable 2
Too Human
Infinite Undiscovery
Resistance 2
SOCOM: Confrontation
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift

to qualify for a PS2 Greatest Hit, you have to have sold at least 500,000 copies.
so are they implying that Okami sold 500,000 copies?
if so...well, GOOD for them! also; WHY THE F*CK DID CAPCOM DISSOLVE CLOVER??
*ahem* sorry.
anyway, i have Odin Sphere, and am currently playing my roommate's Okami. i don't have Disgaea, however. i'll definitely scoop them up when i have the cash.
as there hasn't been any word here.
however, just today i DID walk by the area where GB is being tested, and it's still there, so at least the game isn't canned. i'll go back over there later and see if it is only being tested on the PS3.
it would suck for Wii and 360 owners if the game suddenly became PS3 exclusive, though the developers already admitted to having an affinity for the PS3, and they said they could "do more" if it was an exclusive to the con...
for a long time, so i expected it to look wonderful.
as for the aliasing, Ratchet and Clank, and Metal Gear Solid 4 are two games i have on my PS3 that have anti-aliasing, and those games have a LOT of things going on at the same time.
it's not like the PS3 can't do it, or that there isn't a precedent for a PS3 having anti-aliasing.
considering that, like i said in a comment above, there probably won't be any epic, large scale battles going like MGS4 in ...
that both Kotaku and Joystiq have to focus on the "uncanny valley" buzzword angle in their story.
instead of just saying, "holy sh*t, graphics have come a LOOOOONG way since Pitfall on the Atari; this looks AMAZING!"
i mean, a few years back, we never would have DREAMED we'd get real time, in game characters and images that come even THIS close to mimicking actual human faces.
also, i highly doubt that CG artists and game designers wi...
on the Playstation Blog there is a list of Trophies, one of them being ramming someone wearing a jetpack with a ground vehicle or Warhawk.
edit - as if Warhawk wasn't already ridiculously fun, they go and do THIS.
and it appears to be in game.
just looking at certain aspects of the image make me think it's being rendered on the PS3.
look at the corners of the eyes in the extreme close up picture. a CG render would probably be more rounded, and in the close up of the face, the lips don't have that super polished CG feel.
looking at games like MGS4, Uncharted, and Killzone 2, visuals like these don't seem out of the realm of possibility on the PS3. i mean, from the ...
i don't know about that. i heard that Microsoft is implementing a killswitch in the 360 version of the game that deactivates the PS3 version whenever you long onto LIVE.
/sarcasm.
if the game comes to the 360, it doesn't matter in any way, shape, or form. it still doesn't resolve the little problem of Microsoft only have 10 first and second party developers working on the 360, as opposed to Sony having 30 first and second party developers working on PS3 exclusives. ...
he basically breaks it down for us:
both consoles are powerful.
you can get some really good performance from the PS3, you just need to work at it, but a lot of the same language used in PC development can be used in the PS3.
DVD sucks.
DVD royalties per disc suck (so, basically, MS is charging developers for MICROSOFT'S mistake and short-sightedness. nice /sarcasm). they'd like to use 3 discs, ideally, as that would let them match the ONE B...
"time to get this game again."
why the hell would you get rid of it in the first place?? the game is AWESOME. i've already beaten it 6 times, and i just can't get enough of how amazing it is. it's going to be in my PS3 collection for a long, long time.
anyway, that's awesome our brothers and sisters in the UK get to have their Trophies.
i can't wait until they release the patch over here. i've been holding off playing through Uncharted again fo...
first and second party titles on the horizon, made by developers with some great pedigrees.
MS needs to step it up and start throwing that money at establishing some new first party studios, and not at "exclusive" DLC and timed exclusivity of third party games.
and Element, don't sell your 360. there's plenty of exclusive stuff hitting the console, and developers that enjoy creating games for it.
just pick up a PS3 to compliment your 360.
...
so far, PS1, PS2, PS3, DVD, and Blu Ray playback have been fine.
doesn't mean issue don't happen, only that so far it's smooth sailing for me.
i'm also one of the guys who didn't have any GTAIV or 2.40 related issues either.
i guess my PS3 is made of win (knock on wood).
Dylan's "Stage 1," electricity powers, and they'll eventually take the wraps off of his higher level abilities.
i loved the Sly Cooper games, so i have high hopes for this one.
it's looking damn good, and the only negative thing i can say about it is that it slipped from it's 2008 release to 2009, but that just means more polishing and tweaking (and adding trophies, i'm sure).
an inFamous HOME space would probably be really cool. they should le...
