I think uwp will end up being used for microsoft's play anywhere games. "Every title published by Microsoft that they showed onstage at e3 this year". I think 3rd party devs would want to have their games on as many digital distribution services as possible or push their own service like EA origin or GOG galaxy. If directx becomes uwp only than maybe vulkan will see more use.
UWP games will only be available from windows store.

Apple is the only one selling iphones. Android phones are sold by many companies, with samsung selling the most with 23%. So Apple was the 2nd highest next to samsung. Comparing android sales to Apple sales is not the same as consoles sales..

You can "play anywhere" with most digital distribution services on pc because the games are tied to your account. With steam you're not limited to w10. It's a nice feature for xbox users, but probably won't see much use.
It wasn't pc gamers begging for Microsoft to get into pc gaming.
They aren't a game developer. They make 3d animated films. (cutscenes and trailers)
We haven't even seen scorpio. Both Sony and Microsoft are using AMD for their graphics so they are both probably going to be using some form of the new polaris chip. It's not like AMD has some secret xbox gpu.
Let's at least wait until we see some actual running consoles. xbox fans were saying how the xbox one was going to be way more powerful than ps4 before they were revealed and look how that turned out.
android os is based off of the linux kernel. It's kind of popular too. I think they have around 80% marketshare compared to 1% or 2% for windows phone.

Have you seen the windows store? The only "AAA" games they have are GEARS remaster, Quantum Break, Rise of the Tombraider, and GTA San Andreas. Everything else is cellphone like games. "play anywhere" (on your smartphone)

Doubt it. EA has origin, and they keep their games on it. Titanfall is only available on origin on pc. I don't see it on the microsoft store, and it was an "exclusive". Also it ...

XBOX is not more powerful. Maybe it will be next year but right now scorpio is nothing but rumored specs.
I doubt even enthusiasts upgrade every 6 months.
well it's at 51 on amazon's video game best seller list. Compared to the original xbox one which isn't in the top 100, and ps4 which is at 19, it's not doing too bad.
Probably. In the past microsoft had to invest money to help apple when it was struggling. (so windows wouldn't be a monopoly)

Now Apple and Google are worth more than microsoft, part of is probably because of their success with their digital marketplace.
PC gaming is not microsoft. In fact microsoft has very little to do with pc gaming.
It's disappointing that MS already coming out with their next console before delivering any of the 3x power of xbox one with cloud.
uwp is for windows store (windows10) only. For example Rise of the Tomb Raider on steam is not a uwp game and can be played on windows 7, 8, and 10. What incentive does a developer have for using uwp besides Microsoft giving them money? (around 2% of tomb raider pc sales came from windows store)
