I think the article existed a bit too-soon cause we don't know if Irrational has plans for more DLC. The whole plot gives them leeway to go in whatever direction they want. Who knows? Maybe we'll see Saltonstall in Columbia again? He deserved better....
Every game should have its share of criticisms. We're not doing a good job as gamers if we're always excusing games cause of optimism. Do people still think that the input-lag in Killzone 2 was 'realistic'?? Stuff like that.
The fact the DLC announcements has no hint of going back to Columbia puts into question the direction of the team. I was hoping the 3rd DLC would send us back to Columbia featuring Saltonstall (a major character that got cut from the game) but maybe I cared to see Columbia fleshed out more the way Rapture is right now.
That looks very boring... I have a better time watching ArmA3 Co-op footage.
I think the word you're looking for Gaben is "smooth talker".
While I agree with you; to be fair Carmack needs to do more than just Rage. I still believe iD can still pull out games that can wow the community the way Quake 4 did. FWIW, games like Enemy Territory was way ahead of its time considering what our current FPS crop is leaning toward.
It was said this-gen that the technical specs between the PS3 and 360 was minimal as well by the same party of people. However you really think Microsoft will let their developers innovate as much as Sony has?
I still remember games like Lair, Heavenly Sword, and Killzone and they blew away the industry. Then Uncharted came along and surprised everyone and then there's Heavy Rain, MGS4 and Resistance 2 (at the time!). MAG proved that a MMO game can work on consoles and .....
Your comment made me look into Dragon's Crown a bit more considering the art-style was a total turnoff for me. Based on the features and the quest-driven dungeon crawling as well as the more unique MP features that feels inspired from Demon's Souls: I'd say this might give Newgrounds a run for their 2008's worth of money.
A writer gives his opinion on LoL and suddenly everyone loses their minds. So...how many of you guys actually read the article?
I see a difference between those characters and Lightning. It's pretty obvious that Square-Enix was trying to build Lightning as a strong-lead whereas the characters you mentioned were all supporting. The fairer comparison is Terra from FF6.
You get a bubble cause that was unexpectedly funny. I used to call it Boy Band 13, but I think I'll start using Kingdom Hearts 15 if it's alright with you.
I remembered the day when the internet raged cause FF10 took away the World Map and Tidus was annoying as hell. Heralded as the worst FF back then. Remember that day?
The writer probably wanted Lightning to break the stereotype on female characters akin to other characters like Ellie and Elizabeth from their games with the notion their bodies don't define a woman's role in a story/game. Unfortunately, he was over a year late when FF13-2 came out. Who didn't see this coming?
I was hoping to avoid that trailer because it had her name on it. I have nothing against the woman personally but her voice is unpleasant to hear.
If the graphics runs at a smooth frame-rate; I'm not bothered by the lack of IQ whatsoever. People forget with games like GTAIV, frame-rate wise; it often ran below the 30FPS mark.
I can't think of a single console that had a strong launch year: why people are still surprised 20 years later with Wii U is just baffling and a reminder that current-gen gamers have short-attention spans.
40% of the profits is actually a better deal than what Valve offers, which is only 25%.
That was misleading...... :(
That sounds good: you promote the game as a gateway drug such that the buyers will want to get a AMD/ATI GPU as well for Crossfire. Double-dip!
That was some read and it would blow some expectations if it is indeed a sequel.
The word "budget" is subjective. To me, that's a pretty cheap build for a rig. Also you forget that it's MaximumPC. Not your ordinary outlet for console-afflicted gamers.
