production cost is the cost to "Produce" the ps3. it's not part of retailer cost.

It's no different than how ATI would react if Nvidia dropped the price on a top end GPU or Nvidia dropping the price of theirs if ATI had a better price/performance ratio.

$299 is tempting $249 is the deal sealer for me. There's really no ps3 exclusive I want. I just don't wanna subject myself to playing shooters on a console just yet. But I do want a console for my sports games.
I tried Biostar once and will never go too cheap again. Didn't even last 6 months.
The reason I look at MSI first is because my first pc build built back in 2003 I gave to my brother back in 2005 and is still running without a problem to this day. I've used Asus in a lot of builds and have never had anyone complain.
I don't buy Asus but they are one of the 3 brands of motherboards I would buy. MSI and Gigabyte I usually look at first.
I think quality and Apple stopped going together when iphones started blowing up in people's faces.

all my co-workers and family have a 360..Yet I still won't support M$ for shoddy quality. I paid for xp and will be paying for 7 because of YES you guessed it. Good quality.

They could continue what they're continuing to do. Or spend who knows how many millions making ps3 games and just hope to break even (see kz2).
50-60 million to make who knows how many million in advertising and only 2mil+ sales. Thinking about it now, I wouldn't even say they broke even.
Valve need not lend its genius talent to a platform where sales aren't a guarantee.

That's because it's not designed for the masses. These types of games play a lot slower than arcade shooters like cod, cs, and halo. They cater to a different crowd.
