i think its already been confirmed MGS4 is sub 720p, at least for sure the multiplayer is.

well, it seems the dust is settling, and after months of hearing sonyfans declaring GTA4 will be better on PS3 have been proven wrong.
GTA4 on PS3 - no AA, 640p, problems over PSN and no XMB, mandatory install, no DLC
GTA4 on 360 - 2xAA, 720p, LIVE w/XMB, no install required, exclusive DLC coming, and outselling PS3 version.

Now I SURE we can all agree that 2008 is up for grabs as far as games.
Now that HOME and KZ2 are going to get pushed back till 09.
Both PS3 and the 360 have great exclusive coming up with neither having the advantage, only preference.
Maybe next year will be Sonys year? but you gotta admit it sucks for sonyfans that were screaming 2007 would be sonys year, then 2008, and now maybe, hopefully 2009.

Looks like everyone braggin about 2008 being PS3 is going to have to start changing their tune to 2009 being Sonys year.

As much as I like Splinter Cell, its safe to assume that MGS has a much larger fanbase.
But to say an unproven IP like LBP is better than Banjo? Maybe you haven't played Banjo, but those games were on par if not better than the Mario 64, so I would definitely go with Banjo over LBP.
As of Now, IMHO, LBP looks like a great PSN game, something for the casual looking for a quick fix.
I dont think MS has anything to compete with MGS4 when it comes out except NG2. Either way, both NG2 and MGS4 are for the hardcore.
With MGS4 able to sell systems to ps2 sonyfans that have been holding back.
Either way, 2008 will be interesting, i'm sure MS will have its price drop for the mass market come E308. And with a blu-ray "ultra" 360 planned for fall 08 and Wii-like motion controls..... MS will get momentum back this year.

I would be the first to admit it, if Sony would have secured GTA4, it would have taken over like the PS2 did.
GTA3 is the best selling game series on PS2, all 3 games on the top four of best selling list.
But you gotta admit, for MS to get same day release, 720p, 2xAA, no HDD required, far less problems reported playing online compared to PS3, and the exclusive DLC coming fall 08 and spring 09. THAT is a slap in the face to past ps2 sonyfans.
Say what you want, but both consoles have a great line-up.
Sony with MGS4, ReFOM2, LBP, and possibly Killzone2. Those are some heavy hitters. Will it make 2008 the PS3 year? HIGHLY DOUBTFUL
M$ with Gears2, Banjo, Splinter Cell5, Too Human, NG2, Fable 2, Halo Wars, Alan Wake, and dont forget the DLC for GTA4. (on a side note, notice how nobody can label the 360 as a "shooters" only console anymore)
Out of all the games coming out this year...
it does NOT need blu-ray for games, as a gamer you should know that has already been proven by now. Just go to metacritic.com or gameranking and see where the highest rated exclusives are.
Just because Sony says you need blu-ray doesn't mean its true.
Perhaps next gen when consoles are capable of running all games at native 1080p/60fps, and blu-ray has been accepted more on a mass market scale.

No matter how you slice it, the 360 needs blu-ray, ONLY because their are many consumers that want a 360 but would buy a ps3 because of the added blu-ray. I personally have a couple of friends that went that route. Having a blu-ray in a 360 taked the ps3 biggest advantage away from them.
So how can this be a bad idea? The blu-ray will be used for HD movies if your into that, and the arcade and pro will be used for games.

just imagine if things were switched and the 360 version was running at 640p and ps3 at 720p.... the sonykids on this site would be running wild and rabid leaving hundreds and comments about the power of the cell and blu-ray!!

what you dont understand is that this is a win-win for M$.
M$ took Sony's biggest and best selling franchise from last gen, (remember GTA3, VC, SA were all on the top 4 game sales for ps2), and has beat Sony out of its timed exclusive rights, secured exclusive DLC, and in the end will sell more copies on 360.

being that KZ2 is dated for 2009, why compare them?

NEXT YEAR, it will be KZ2 up against what will most likely be revealed at E3 2009, Peter Jackson's HALO chronicles... :)
