You're right, those mail order Russian "brides" must have done a number for those review scores...
SuperM: Do you have any proof to this statement or is it just an isolated incident that you are using to bad mouth a game?
Depends how much the game cost to make, if you sell a game that moves
1.5 million copies and either breaks even or fails to produce a profit, what's the point?
There was some crazy estimate put out at the start of this generation that said a game had to sell 2.5 million copies to turn a profit, how true that is I don't know.
Bungie is still partially owned by Microsoft since they are a LLC, they never disclosed how much of Bungie Microsoft still owns but it is less than 50%, if Microsoft still has some push on Bungie in terms of share that could stop them.
Halo 3: ODST was no where near as marketed as Halo 3 was, $125 million is really good and that's not even for the month. Microsoft shareholders will be happy.
How well did Halo Wars do? The last figure I saw for it was 2 million units and that was around April/May IIRC.
Modern retro Japanese style nostalgia, what a paradox this game is!
Yea it always feels weird when reviews are released this early for a game, Uncharted 2 is another recent example where reviews started to come out nearly a month before release. It sucks because if the game is good the wait gets so much more unbearable! :(
On the gaming side I agree, Sony has taken a lot more risks this generation in comparison to last. Microsoft had a strong start but really dropped the ball when it came to first and second party support by closing FASA, Digital Anvil, and Ensemble, as they could have had some amazing projects set for 2009/2010. Sony picked it up and we are beginning to see the effects now in the 2009/2010 timeframe. I'm sure all 3 consoles will sell well this generation though.
The headline is misleading yes but I did read the article and he says he has respect for Valve but at the same time he claims they are exploiting consumers which is a pretty bold statement.
The Bungie/Infinity Ward thing was a while ago, Pitchford said something like "I'd like to see Bungie and Infinity Ward do something beyond Halo and Call of Duty" or something similar to that. This coming from a guy whose company has only done Half Life and a crap ton of Brothers ...
All those family friendly Wii games which sold millions each would like to have a word with you.
For a company who has essentially milked a single series (Brothers in Arms), Gearbox sure likes to talk a lot of trash and even tell other companies how to do business, first Bungie, Infinity Ward, and now Valve and Microsoft, wtf?
It should also be noted that Gearbox started off by doing jobs for Valve. My favorite quote "Steam helps us as customers, but it’s also a money grab, and Valve is exploiting a lot of people in a way that’s not totally fair."
...
I've been following Champions Online since it was announced but haven't picked it up. How big is the online community? Is it worth getting into?
Bookmarked the guide though just incase I do decide to get into the game.
That would be stupid since there is essentially no hype behind Alpha Protocol (Great going Sega!....), sure you can bank on this potentially changing next year but even than, is it worth the risk?
Funny, when ever Microsoft gets sued for anything people on N4G are always "Good luck company XYZ" when in reality if they win they will go after others as we see here.
I wonder where all those supporters are now? NEVER support patent trolls regardless of who they go after be it Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, IBM, Apple, etc. Once they get some leeway by winning a case they go for the gold and sue everyone they can, in the end only the consumer suffers.
The link sends me to a internal Ninja Gaiden II site at the Xbox website, the order links take me to Microsoft's usual "Buy From These Retailers" page.
Am I clicking on the wrong link?
Anyway I bought NG 2 when it was $40, I'm having a ton of fun albeit frustration as well with the game. Since I'm a fan of Ninja Gaiden I'm also getting Sigma 2, either way, you can't go wrong!
I really liked Persona 4 they did a great job with the setting, really making it feel like you were in Japan! (it was my first Persona game), I might give this one a go.
The original used GFWL didn't it? Plus Capcom has been one of the more "vocal" supporters so it probably will.
L4D had some free DLC and that game sold really well on 360, Gears and Halo also had some of their DLC go free after a certain period of time.
Capcom is the same company that even charged PC gamers for DLC already on the disc (the SFIV DLC on the GFWL store is all unlock keys) so I hardly trust their judgment on such matters.
I'd be willing to pay for it, I just don't think they have enough content to warrant a whole new release leaving the 4 million+ who bought RE5 with nothing.
You think reviewers would have the time to look over all those cars? They will look over as many as they can before their review deadline, same thing would happen with Forza 3, Dirt 2, Need for Speed: Shift, etc.
And if you think the gaming media is biased to a point where all pro gaming media sites will badmouth a game with a certain logo on it you are insane. You can work for IGN on the 360 team but if you act like a fanboy in public do you think your company or future emplo...
