Yes but on the console (even the PSN and WiiWare) you have to buy them, you can't play them for free.
Those games aren't free, it's basically like buying a game on the XBLM but through a different interface.
In Canada and I think some European nations there was also Boxing Day on December 26 which is essentially like Black Friday.
I think that was a VG Chartz figure.
Microsoft would have better numbers than VG Charts about their own consoles. You really can't lie about something like this, you would get called on it and sued into oblivion. Not to mention developers would drop support like flies if you were "fudging up" your numbers because install base is a decided factor for most developers.
TOO PAWNED: And somehow fanboys have become representatives of a entire console base?
A great story isn't all that is needed, Jim Lee has been with DC Comics for a while and was directly involved with Rise of Sin Tzu, I found the story for that pretty cool but the gameplay mechanics didn't deliver on the scale people expected it too.
Who cares? The game is going to be great regardless, the people who buy such talk about first party (aka IP owned) titles probably also believe "the wrastlin" is the real deal.
Edit: And for those who think Sony is the only one who says stuff like this, Nintendo, Sega, Microsoft, etc have all gone on record saying the same thing about their IP owned exclusive titles. Plenty of third party developers have also said similar things. But why? Free hype.
If you are going to act like this everytime they announce DLC perhaps you'd like it better if they just sat on the game for the entire generation just in case they feel like putting more cars in?
True, Killzone on the PSP was pretty cool, but asides from Killzone 2 the other titles haven't really reviewed very well. Shellshock Nam didn't review that well either, it has a 58 on Metacritic but it did sell.
Great game, one of my favorite titles on the 360. It sucks the game didn't sell very well, probably because Microsoft never gave it much of a advertising push (same with Viva Pinata: TiP), hopefully it sells better on demand.
On the plus side, Viva Pinata on GFWL was selling pretty high up on the charts during the sale.
GRIN also made Bionic Commando: Rearmed and the two PC versions of GRAW, Capcom can try to scapegoat all their problems on GRIN if they like but in the end it is mostly internal.
Any developer given then right tools and budget can make something truly amazing. Take a look at Guerrilla Games, before Killzone 2 all their games were either mediocre or crap. Sony got behind them, gave them a budget, etc and they pulled out one of the best games this generation.
North America has always been iffy on sex in games and Europe has always been iffy about violence in games, nothing new.
None of the licensed NBA, NFL, etc stuff was bought by Warner since they basically had to jump through hoops with organizations like the NBA to be able to use them again.
I wasn't able to play much multiplayer for Uncharted 2 but I loved the single player. Hope to go back to it one day if my neighbor ever gets off his PS3! :p
I'm sure Uncharted 2 has sold really well and will continue to do so, but the article is using VG Chartz so the grain of salt really goes without saying.
PirateThom: Forza 3 actually sold better in Europe then it did in North America. Forza 3 dropped of the NPD's after the first month but it was charting in the top 10 in Europe for a few weeks, it still is pretty high up on the list.
I wouldn't say no one outside of the US cares, I would say very few in Japan care but Europe, Canada, etc still do well.
He made the same mistake with over what 12 people over a period of who knows how many nights, the fact that he had children and a wife is one of the reasons why this is getting so much attention.
It's going to be a stealth game in the vein of Splinter Cell or Metal Gear Solid called "Tigerized", look it up on Urban Dictionary. :P
Both Midway and Acclaim used to publish NBA Jam titles, I guess EA must have bought them recently?
Ensemble was shut down yes but two main studios were formed in their place by ex Ensemble employees. One of the studios did the Halo Wars stuff and the other is rumored to be doing Age of Empires related things.
It was a extremely stupid decision for Microsoft to shut down studios this console generation, especially one like ACES considering how their software was used by professional pilots, trainers, etc since it was so realistic. You just can't get that kind of dedication o...
