In regards to RE5, how did you come to that conclusion?
For the demos it depends, it's based off how long the demos were played over a period of time. In some cases the demo may have gotten more play time than the actual game. Halo Wars for instance is currently the most or fastest selling (forget which one) demo on the XBLVM. Also factor in that the demo is free but the full game is not.
Being a fan of Halo Wars, it's good to see it got some recognition, would have been better to see the full game up on the list though! :p
Edit: Shadowrun is 4th place on the GFWL charts, nice! How about the previously promised mod tools now Microsoft? Nope? Ok... :(
Platinum Games didn't do the PS3 port, SEGA did....
Kinda tempted by Mass Effect 2, I was hyped for the first one, even bought it day one but was kind of disappointed by it due to the technical issues, rehashed content (such as reskined planets), etc.
But then again, Assassin's Creed II so far is much better than the first game since it fixed what was wrong with it, perhaps Mass Effect 2 will do the same?
I think you mean Fable II, the third Fable game isn't out yet.
For Microsoft, games that sell over 400k units in 9 months make it into the Platinums Label. For PS3 games, those that sell over 500k in 10 months make it into the Greatest Hits label. Before Sony had it set at 250k in 9 months but they changed it a few months ago. Microsoft may have also changed it since the 400k number is from last generation.
It's basically a measure you can use to see how good a ...
Nintendo already has something, Wii Motion+ and the Vitality sensor, I doubt Microsoft or Sony would be able to "coup de grace" the Wii movement entirely at this point, make a dent in? Perhaps. I want to see how Sony markets their motion controller, I have seen little to no marketing for it and it's supposed to come out this Spring, a delay perhaps? The Sony Wand in my opinion if it releases in Spring could have the potential to slow the Natal momentum down if marketed right. I hope...
Dark Void Zero is a different game,
You're making no sense at all. A increase in graphical performance and such is all hardware related, story telling depends on the publisher, developer, etc. Developers have often praised the support Microsoft gives them for development on the Xbox 360. They also have publicly available tools, documentation, etc on MSDN to make development easier and quicker, you don't have to be a big name developer to take advantage of MSDN either.
Ratchet and Clank continuing on its own mome...
If you're going to look at it like that, no company is any different, no company has taken any risks, etc.
All companies "spy" on their employees at work, especially for IT related companies like Microsoft, Apple, etc. It's also how they ensure you aren't doing anything illegal, leaking secrets, etc.
Little joke around many IT water coolers is that they read emails when they're working on weekdays. :P
It works great for PC gaming, in Shadowrun for instance you can play the game in the littler Aero preview window, it works perfectly! :P
Games Explorer was updated as well to make things a bit easier on the end user, you can even find patches from the client.
I've also noticed a small performance boost from Windows 7 not only in gaming but from my regular programs as well. I've usually never had this kind of a result from a OS upgrade before.
Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon were new IP's, what name could they possibly have had for themselves other than the developers? Lost Odyssey for one tried something new with the way the story was told, critically acclaimed Japanese authors were called in to pen a book which was split up and used in the game, the book was popular enough to get published after the game had launched. This of course is a minor example but these games did try something new, much more than you are giving them credit f...
It was told through flashbacks if I recall correctly as well as through your surroundings. (the way people dress, act, etc).
Not sure why I got so many disagrees for my personal opinion. =/
Godmars: Did you happen to miss all those other titles I've listed? Dishwasher: Dead Samurai was a risk proposition and one that really showed the world what XNA was capable of. Microsoft took a gamble with Japan and the JRPG's they've published in that region. XBLA and the other digital distribution stuff they are doing for consoles is also noteworthy. Shadow Complex alone broke records, games like Trials HD, Tower Bloxx Deluxe, etc all move over a thousand copies a week. Xbox Live Marketpla...
To my knowledge none of the games I've listed had developers who shut down. All games have some sort of creative input during the brainstorming process.
Who cares how they were rated or sold? People claim Microsoft takes no risks and that list alone proves that they have taken risks this generation with new IP's from all sorts of developers.
Microsoft like Sony and Nintendo do try new IP's, a list of some this generation that they've supported, published, developed, etc.
Kameo
Shadow Complex
Gears of War
Ninja Blade
Ninety-Nine Nights
Viva Pinata
Crackdown
Blue Dragon
Mass Effect (albeit they lost the publishing rights to EA)
Lips
Too Human
Alan Wake
Milo & Kate
The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai
Joy Ride
Snoopy: ...
Ignoring your racism, all 3 or 4 major SKU's have sold that much combined, some of those are also old owners buying the new SKU. In the end it's up to the software to really make the hardware worthwhile and if games don't sell you're in trouble.
It's not just about hardware but software as well.
On the IGN Game Scoop podcast Greg Miller said the top selling PSP game for November was on 150 on NPD's overall list, it was also the PSP's top selling title for that month. (Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines) I doubt Europe and digital downloads really make up enough of that pie for those not to be disappointing numbers, the games that sell here and in Europe are different from those in Japan so it's hard to say how that is doing....
Pope_John_Paul_II: Where was it stated that the GTA DLC money is/was being used to fund Agent? Given the time the deal was made it could also have paid for the GTA IV development costs (it is the most expensive game ever made at $100 million) or even payback Take Two loans, fund other Take Two projects/studios, etc.
Also keep in mind, a figure was never officially revealed for the exclusivity, the $50 million was something Michael Patcher ball parked.
