Not into the pro gaming stuff, his take on why the 360 is dominant in the pro gaming scene is interesting, not sure how far it goes though.
Installs aren't that bad, I admit that at first waiting for the install to finish is a bit hard since when you get a new game the excitement usually takes over. But after the install is done you can enjoy the game all you want with added benefits.
If it comes to mandatory installs I do, if they are optional I only do them if the game has technical issues such as pop in, framerate, long loading, etc.
Tails, and Knuckles in my opinion are probably the only Sonic "friend" characters that are any good, the rest are too ridiculous/far fetched.
Video games are one thing but I don't see how things like sports can really destroy a culture like they claim.
Sad thing is no one will really do anything about it after Black Hawk happened.
Why would it? Those games have nothing in common other than the third person aspect. Tomb Raider would be a better comparison since Uncharted does have a lot in common with that series.
EVERYONE, buy Tropic 3!
Age of Conan never came out on consoles....
Without knowing sales it really doesn't make much of a difference now does it? It was either Borderlands or Call of Duty: MW2 that claimed to have sold over 100k recently on digital platforms, those games were charting at places like steam.
Also keep in mind that Steam has free games you can still download, some retail games use Steam for multiplayer so you have to get an account to play online.
Darkeyes: Simply going by what is in the article, not saying it's right or wrong though.
Plus if you want to get technical, the amount the DLC cost Microsoft was never confirmed by Microsoft or Rockstar/Take Two. The $50 million figure came from Michael Patcher IIRC so technically the whole argument is flawed.
Chris399: According to the article, Microsoft got their $50 million back plus $20 million in bonus. Also factor in that the DLC is still available on the marketplace so sales will still come from it.
DarkEyes: See above, I don't see how Sony has the last laugh when Microsoft got their original investment back plus interest on top of that they also benefit from future sales of the DLC, game, etc on the XBLM.
Shenmue was originally supposed to be a series that spanned nearly 16 games IIRC so I'm sure that $70 million must have also gone to establish the tech base that could be used to develop future game. (ie the first one costs a lot but the rest are far cheaper to make and profit from)
Since SEGA left such a huge gap, I doubt much of that technology would still be relevant anymore.
Besides, Yu Suzuki isn't really at great terms with SEGA at this point, would any eve...
Godmars: To make money, and now they see that they can make even more money!
Remember when paid unlock codes were few and far between? Now, almost every game has them!
They could have but why would they? FF 13 is going to be a huge seller for Square, possibly the biggest of this year. Why wouldn't they use it as an opportunity to make more money?
Fanboys can claim this and that is why stuff like this happens, but the fact of the matter is the companies are simply exploring more routes to profit from games. You guys can plug your ears, close your eyes, do nothing, and claim otherwise but before you know it, this will become the new standard.
Because Uncharted 2 isn't available on Xbox Live or the Xbox 360 for that matter, were you trying to reply to someone?
According to their site, Simply Games is a British retailer! :P

I think the last steam figure was somewhere around the 20 million mark but it was from a while ago.
I hope they don't pull a Microsoft and do this solely to focus on the Wand. (ACES and Ensemble were confirmed to have been shut down since they weren't doing Natal stuff)

mrv321: I agree, essentially all anti piracy methods are hacked eventually, in the end the only ones who suffer are the legitimate consumers whether they realize it or not. What happens if you don't have internet access but want to kill time playing games? If you have dial up? If your internet goes out mid game?, etc.
Steam does something similar, the last I checked people were able to circumvent it.
Godmars: Haze is the only one I can think of.
Before this rumor I have never heard of SimplyGames and I'm sure others are in a similar position. Rockstar will be a better resource than a online retailer, I think we should wait.
GTA IV is one of the top 10 most played games on both Xbox Live and GFWL, not sure about PS3 since I don't think the numbers are released. So yes, there is obviously still a market for this stuff.
