There can be no "Tolerance" if you boycott everyone who doesn't share your opinions.
Card has a right to his opinion, which is technically the majority opinion given that the majority of CA voters voted not to legalize gay marriage. He seems to be advocating personal and political action supporting his own religious and moral ideals. When did that equal shaming and shunning in the United States?
It is like a hidden fact that most gamers are adults well into their thirties. I guess we have to wait until our "generation" starts serving in more places and in greater capacity in government and retail. Once that happens what "everyone knows" will be accurate.
I will admit that I have accepted that I will pay the "early adopter nerd tax" for many tech items, such as my 60gb PS3. At the time I bought it I felt kind of embarrassed, but not any more!
Seriously, what is the problem at Sony? I feel so lucky that my eager beaver attitude netted me such a killer system. With each new version of the PS3 they just neuter it a little more, what the heck?
A friend of mine wanted to buy a PS3 and asked me which was the best,...
First of all what a great name! (An evolutionist Disc Jockey who likes pot, what a combo!)
Two thoughts
1. Evolution doesn't disprove Christianity. Evolution just says how organism A became organism B. However it does not posit how/why organism A came to be. If you go back in the syllogism far enough you are left with the question of where did the original organic material (for the big bang/origin of the universe) come from. The best you can do is state that it cam...
In fact I think it's pretty funny. Your character in the game has a giant cross scarred across his chest as he shreds through hell, why would any Christian have a problem with that?
To the guy quoting from "Evil Bible.com"...WOW. Taken out of context and timeframe there are many things in the Bible that seem outrageous today. Don't you think it is a little bit of a stretch to take Biblical law, written for a specific time (1450 BC), people and place, before the Atonemen...
I agree that the Natal seems rough but notice the difference it makes between an experienced player like Kudo vs. Jimmy. If everyone but Kudo sucked at it I would buy the argument that it doesn't work but when Stephen Moyer (who I would never peg as a gamer) takes his turn and really kicks butt maybe it's just the spatial coordination of the user or the length of time one has with the Natal.
I applaud Sony and Microsoft's attempts to put their own spin on motion controlling. I h...
Can I use my electricity on the fat guy so he will shut up?
The voices are so over the top and guttural, just hard on the ears. The game looks interesting, the earlier trailers actually looked better than this though.
I feel like they have become the new gold standard in racing games with Dirt and Grid. They were just sim enough to feel real but the gameplay was lively and fun, unlike some of the more serious sims like Gran Turismo where the game feels lifeless and distant.
Fuel looks great, I mean how many times have you been playing Fallout 3 and thought "Why can't I have a motorcycle or truck to drive around all this wasteland?"
He isn't ripping guitar hero, he is ripping people who equate playing a videogame to the actual playing of a real guitar.
In much the same way that SKATE has you replicate some of the basic leg action of skateboarding but doesn't mean you can go out and instantly rock at skateboarding.
I skated for 12+ years and love SKATE and think that great games like guitar hero/rock band and SKATE are always positive promotion for the real life passions that the games portray....
An excellent article on the increasingly divisive and strange phenomenon of fanboyism. Preferences are not the same as fanboysim. The article makes this powerful distinction.
I am currently working on a Doctorate in Psychology and Cooper Lawrence is forgetting the aspect of online communities and cooperation that has emerged inside multiplayer/co-op games.
How could you explain the emergence of huge member clans in WOW?
Videogames are merely the new kid on the block until the neighborhood bullies (social scientists, religion, psychologists etc.) adapt and understand the medium. Think back to TV, Rock n Roll, the Internet!
I own both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 and enjoy them both very much. My 360 red-ringed on me and my hard drive got so corrupted I eventually bought the 120g, so I do understand the pain of having your console fail and in my case the possibility of losing all my game saves.
However, this guy's story sounds really fishy, too dogmatic. I don't understand people's obsession with bashing other consoles. Is it jealousy? Is it ignorance? Do they just not have a life?
That our shared hobby is so fractured by fanboyism and terrible retailers like Gamestop?
Same situation in the world of musical instruments. I play and collect guitars but refuse to buy at Guitar Center because they are the guitar equivalent of Gamestop employees: Condesending, ignorant, rude, arrogant, always trying to shame or upsell you into buying what you don't want or need.
How sad that gamers really don't have many places to go where the employees "get ...
Just the same hyperbole about how the 360 is dying in the gutter, on it's last legs or life support or some other overblown nonsense.
I don't even care about the hip hop part (don't really see what your musical preference has to do with gaming..maybe I should start deathmetalgamer.com?) but seriously, N4G needs to have some higher standards, each week they promote these guys like their opinion really matters or that they have some revelatory insider information, wake up these du...
No one ever promised that Netflix on the 360 was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread or anything. I find the service awesome and convenient, its not perfect but at least it is useful and functions rather well.
I mean seriously, it really seems like people are just whining about such little issues, like they are trying to convince themselves that something is wrong with a great and (for many of us) free service.
What garbage!! Get a life "conservationists", go live in a commune, churn your own butter, cry about how humans are ruining the planet and how "mother nature" would be so much better off without us. Actually, do everyone a favor and "thin the herd" a little by starting with yourselves. Or better yet, yell at Al Gore as he departs his PRIVATE JET or leaves his ENORMOUS ENERGY SUCKING ESTATE!
