I dropped a 1.5tb into my PS4 for the big installs and inevitable PS+ freebies. I moved the PS4's 500gb into the PS3 to replace my original 60gb. I love the increased space in both machines and am enjoying Metro & Remember Me!
It would be nice to have Back-Compat to get through my backlog and de-clutter my cabinet. Right now I am just running the 360 through the "TV" HDMI input on the XBONE and snapping to it when I play (kinda cool.)
The problem is that someone can only be called a "liar" if they actively knew what they were saying was untrue. If not then they are just ignorant or uninformed. In the twitter exchange it appears that Chris Grant either holds a different definition of "working with a remote" or isn't as informed as the article writer. Either of those scenarios don't make Chris Grant a malicious "liar."
Perhaps if the article writer had pointed out the e...
This is tricky. I played most current gen games on the 360 because it's upscaler was great and my PS3 would only do 720p. I am glad the XBONE has an upscaler but that doesn't mean I want to settle for upscaled games when they can be native. I see what Greeneberg's saying and if you can only buy the XBONE you'll be fine but if you have a choice, native always sounds better to me, less work for the system to do.
It's too bad you can't remap the triggers to the bottom when you play on the PS3. I would love to see how easy the shooting is with the new concave triggers. I know the PS4 is default mapped to them.
This story's title makes me think Mark Cerny is on the kind of list that requires that he notifies the neighbors he's moving in and that he stays 500ft away from schools.
Trevor is compelling because while he is a psychopath he's "our" psychopath. He's willing to do the hard thing, the terrible thing, that others won't but he is loyal (when sane or medicated). Whenever he showed up in a scenario I wasn't expecting (like inviting himself to hang with Lamar & Frank) I immediately said "oh crap" with a big smile on my face because things were guaranteed to get nuts! Trevor is unpredictable, extremely dangerous to others &am...
Gaming, like all forms of media that's seen as "new" & "subversive" will eventually transition into the mainstream consciousness. Does anyone still think Elvis shaking his hips is going to degrade the moral fiber of the nation or pose a danger to children? Gaming is our generation's rock n roll.
THamm, Unfortunately all those places (independent game stores) get ground into dust by giants like GameStop & Bestbuy. I agree with your sentiment but the closest thing you're going to find is trading/deal communities like cheapassgamer and Goozex. Until a gaming store run by real gamers (not annoying late 30 something ex-cheerleaders) can convince parents their store is more approachable and will treat them better than Gamestop nothing will change.
I just don't understand what the point of making it difficult to play used games is?
All this will do is piss off the customers, rental companies and resellers like gamefly and gamestop (SERIOUSLY, GAMEFLY, REDBOX & GAME RENTALS IN GENERAL WILL BE TOTALLY SCREWED BY THIS), increase the price of games and make things unnecessarily complicated.
For being one of the biggest companies in the world MS has certainly made an incredibly boneheaded move here. ...
All this phony outrage, repressive "tolerance" over something as simple as a silly word a ridiculous character says in a video game. Who's really upset? Are ther borderlands players throwing down their controllers in protest when they hear her? Sounds like politically correct zombies reacting the way they've been taught to. It's a game that's features a joke hinging on the phrase "butt stallion", just embrace the absurdity and enjoy a great game.
I would love it if the Durango had 2 scalers! The 360's hardware scaler was one of the reasons I ended up playing so many games on that system because the PS3 just couldn't upscale most games beyond 720p, which honestly didn't look as good on my tv. No one likes to screw with their tv and console resolution settings constantly just to get every game to look as good as the last one.
With Microsoft & Sony so obsessed with courting the "casual" gamer since the Wii and the iPhone struck gold I think it's great that a company like Valve is jumping into the game. I don't have the money or time to keep up with serious PC gaming but really admired steam, being able to have that experience at an affordable price from a company that won't ever talk about "velocity girl" or "ridge racer" at E3 is much appreciated. : ) Seriously folks ...
Great article. I think the author's desire for Gamestop to close is driven more by its business model, not the idea of a brick and mortar dedicated game store. Gamestop is to gamers what Guitar Center is to musicians:instead of a haven to associate and support like minded people both are giant corporations that employee desperate souls to hock their overpriced and frustratingly bundled goods. I would love a place to support where I feel valued as a regular, core gamer but it doesn't e...
I haven't played skyrim online with my 360 since 1.2 came out and I read the horror stories, now 1.3 sucks, COME ON! I also uninstalled the game after seeing all the textures look like crap as well, too bad such a great game comes with so much baggage. I just wish they would fix the big stuff and then focus on the small things that aren't so important.
I never thought the graphics in GTA4 lived up to the trailers or the hype. In motion the game kind of looked like a blurry watercolor painting. The trailer for 5 looked great but with games like saints row and just cause I am not sure how much "serious" I want in my open world games. I mean, it's not like the writing of GTA games are on the level of a bioware or bioshock game, so the characters just come across like sociopaths pretending to have a conscience.
I am disappointed that the single player sounds so bland. I wish devs would realize that you don't have to blow up the whole world or every famous structure/invade the USA for a game to feel epic. Why can't they focus on tighter, more compelling character driven smaller stories of espionage and covert operations? I loved that Rainbow Six Vegas concentrated on only a few days with a few characters in tight, tense encounters with terrorists. Why can COD and Battlefield understand that (...
My question is, will the framerate on consoles be as much of a problem if the game is installed to the hard drive? I don't have a gaming PC (or any PC actually) so I am limited to the consoles, these subtle performance differences between the PS3 and the 360 don't really matter in the long run. I've never played a game on one console while pining for the barely noticeable visual difference of another.
All I ask is don't make the story so over the top bonkers l...
I don't think this is happening, not because Microsoft wouldn't love to utilize the benefits of bluray but because it would fragment their install base. The 360 has been largely successful because they have one of the largest install bases (slightly more than Playstation last time I heard) and there's no way they are going to split their customers. Think about what publishers would have to do, release a dvd and a bluray version of every game to accommodate both groups, not financi...
Zelda as a name wasn't originated by Miyamoto or Nintendo just popularized. Zelda Gilroy was a character on the late 50's/early 60's sitcom "The many loves of Dobie Gillis". I think Robin Williams naming his daughter Zelda was sweet and the video is a nice tribute to the game and his daughter. Not to mention any mainstream celebrity advocacy of videogames is a good step towards making the medium an equal art form with music, tv, and film.
