@Maria: They can and they will. However it could still be pancakes in there somewhere... At E3 we get to finally find out what the case may be.

MS though still dropped the ball IMO as the reveal was nothing special. If they had shown it at CES sure but this close to E3 they should had at least one big exclusive game to close with. CoD/EA Sports being shown and partnerships reaffirmed is simply not the same. Even a true CoD live play would had been better than what we go...

Personally I think they are hiding that physical copy trades are being replaced with 100% digital license transfers. It would help explain a few of the inconsistencies and confusion. In other words discs are being used more as a secondary/nondownloadable distribution system for a true license based console (technically they always were license based but lacked the digital/control possibilities to enforce it).

The "used trade system" that they are eluded to could b...

Unfortunately that is partly true--on the actual gaming side of things there isn't much to write about other than the negatives. Remedy news was great but that trailer can't carry the rest of the show (and inevitable third party corporate partners are nothing special).

The problem wasn't so much what MS showed but what they didn't.

The complete lack of "real" gameplay (an in-game CoD story trailer doesn't count) didn't help but as a world premiere for a console reveal it was way too Americana-inspired, corporatized BS for what they should had done. In many ways it was just business as usual as many of their conferences (to me) have come across as desperate attempts to be trendy and pander to a fanbase that is pres...

I know I am in the minority here but personally what I've heard and seen doesn't really pertain to me (in regards to negative backlash). I will probably be one of those branded a "blind fanboy" that's "hurting the industry" by supporting the console (if they still have games I enjoy anyways) but sad truth is the Xbox is going in a different direction but it is still one that I can "agree" with enough to warrant me at least giving it the benefit of th...

From the sound of it the Xbox has something similar to the PS4 but they didn't specify how long each video buffer is.

The article states (as mentioned by aviator) that you can simply tell the xbox to capture it and it then saves that particular recording and I am assuming continues on recording from where it left off. The problem is, like much that MS did wrong, they didn't elaborate in their short 1h on much of anything of value regarding games.

I don't think its near as big as it looks going by different shots and then using a blu-ray disc for size comparison. Its a little larger than the original 360 (especially on the right side and the back) but more than likely its because they dropped the power brick as its more comparable to a PS3 launch system now.

Possibly leaning a little towards square than rectangle but not 'much' bigger. The boxiness doesn't help though. Still, one of the biggest conso...

Since I could care less about Twitter or any other online 'source' I don't really care. Nice try though.

Besides when aren't online polls biased or forums packed full of trolls from one side or the other? The internet is full of too many idiots for me to take anything serious and I would rather go by what I personally think than what some quack says.

PS. Not calling you out--but just saying the internet, mass media, or whatever has zero imp...

Of course there are occasional hiccups outside of my control--but I'm saying when I'm home its not like my console isn't hooked up to the internet anyways. The rarity of my connection going out (outside of maybe a storm which knocked out electricity or damages a line) is extremely rare though and I could care less if I'm denied a short stint of gaming as there are always something else I can do to fill that time.

As much as I love gaming my life doesn't r...

One of the few truly non-biased, honest comments I've read in the past day. Even if it didn't piss me off no denying it did others.

I'm more disappointed myself although I was actually expecting a similar outcome. 3 weeks though and I get to see more of the PS4 and what MS should had shown today.

That's what I always hate most about console releases--people picking up extras and screwing over real gamers for a quick buck. Same is true for anything else but neither are ever going to see a dime from me.

They pretty much matched mine, but they were low to begin with. Between now and release they have to work to prove why I should pick one up but I'm not counting them out quite yet.

If I buy it, its pretty much because I buy all my games new and am online 100% of the time anyways. Well that and they ended up having games I enjoy.

If I don't buy it, just means their games didn't hold up. I can ignore the rest as I've dealt with much of the same with PC gaming and it never got in my way so far.

The exact same can be said for PS4--however I admit the likelyhood of me not picking one up at this point is roughly zero. It at lea...

I actually enjoyed Forward unto Dawn so I have some hope for this with or without Spielberg. As you said it is no reason to buy a console or even tip the scales but I could see me watching it if its good. Definitely no replacement for a game announcement but not bad.

It and Remedy's new IP were the few interesting parts of the reveal. As an entertainment hub the Xbox One sounds great but I really need to see the games and find out more about the console's working m...

New Remedy game could be good--but trailer would had been better if pure gameplay.

I'm actually interested in the Halo tv series too although its no reason to go buy a console ;) Its just like most of the reveal--icing on the cake. We've yet to find out what kind of cake though as if it turns out to be a fruitcake I'll pass.

I've never been a big fan of sports games either although there were a few exceptions (mostly old ones--as in NES, SNES and Sega although there are a few rare exceptions).

I think part of the appeal with sports games though is that, much like many games, the fantasy is often better than the reality. I doubt many people, no matter how good they may be, could go out and play the sport they love as well as the actual person they would like to be or the team they would like ...

Pretty much.

I'll probably still end up with both but MS will likely lose out on many multiplatform game sales which they had relied on heavily late in this generation. I'm hopefully optomistic E3 will surprise me as I can ignore many of its weak points as they don't pertain to me personally or owning both consoles you can find a way to ignore them even with worst case scenarios (rentals/used games for PS4 for people).

Just disappointing that it ...

I think it depends on the game--deep down I still wouldn't want to play a game like Gears of War as a female lead. Supporting characters fine but just Gears is too 'meathead/macho' for me to even want to imagine how annoying that character would be on so many levels and for them to reimagine it sufficiently would cause the game to implode.

Heavenly Sword though was a great example of a true Femme Fatale imo--shame it wasn't received better (probably in part d...

Personally I'm expecting the girl to be a supporting character as they later showed an adult male in a more 'gameplay' style cutscene near the end. I wouldn't mind more female leads though as done right the difference is minimal depending on the role and setting.

It was by far the best part of the show (for me) as I can't wait to see what Remedy does with a bullet time enabled Action game again ;) I may be disappointed in many aspects of the reveal but n...
