It's because we have up to come up with all these damn tiers to define what kind of gamer we are with other gamers. I'm sorry, but gaming is a major hobby and a job now, and the definition for gamer has became too broad, there has to be a better more specific definite for gamer. I think a gamer is anyone who plays games as a hobby, not just recently, not just one game, and not for 10 minutes a day to kill some time.
I guess my Mom is gamer because she plays a mobile quiz game once in a great while. No, something so general does not deserve a freaking label.

I guess if P5 does become popular among new players, then it would undoubtedly increase interest in Vita for the portable version of previous games in the franchise. Nah, I wouldn't say a console is dead if games are still being released on it, published. But I wouldn't say Vita is alive and well, like i said it's just there... as a platform for portable ports of indies, JRPG's, and VNs. Why would it boost interest in Vita anymore than other games that deserve to be on Vita :\? P5 is huge, but...... if the sales of P4G didn't prove another Persona would sell well on the Vita, then I doubt PS4 sales of P5 will. It's not like Persona became unpopular for a time.
Well to say you don't use one means you've played EVERYTHING for it, and if you haven't then your missing out, there's a few exclusives early in it's years that are good, some remakes, and some multiplatform games that just work better on the handheld. Otherwise, there's just VN games being release and obviously inferior ports of PS4 games.
I wouldn't say it's ALIVE! either, just existing. It's more popular for Japan and the weabs(I'd consider myself a a slight weab). There's only a few recent games that might cater to more people, like Severed, from the top of my head... others are indie games that are graphically unimpressive enough to run on the weak hardware(and PS4). I think my point would be, no matter how good the game is, spending 500 hrs of fighting the same enemies over and over in the same place and not experiencing the game is a waste of time, UNLESS you're proving a point, broadcasting it, and getting paid.. and I do think he get something out of it.
