Random encounters can be annoying, and some of the game can be sped up without ruining the story.. Don't think I'd use combat cheats, though.

Exactly, if they keep the same architecture, the transition will be muuuuuccch easier than PS3 to PS4, and no people complaining about backward compatibility.. They'll make some architectural changes that won't affect the performance of these games that don't utilize the changes, other wise, it'll just be brute forced and patched.
PS4 Pro wasn't a generational leap, it was just augmentation for 4k support.. no way it started the new cycle.. I wouldn't be surprised to see PS5 in 2019.
