That's still 10 more than the Series has been sold since November.
Probably the most incomprehensible "was originally multiplatform, then made exclusively, then after 5 months made multiplatform again" deal I have ever seen.
Not a game for me personally, but I wish everyone who is going to buy it fun with it.
What's a little bit fascinating to me is that at least in my perceiption, Playstation haven't really done fancy stuff to be able to expand their lead over Xbox.
They've been sticking to their formula just building reliable and good hardware. And to provide it with games - wether 1st party, 2nd or 3rd party. And even here they haven't really peaked yet regarding quantity.
There's no new wheel being invented here.
But ...
The Last of Us Part 2, developed for those base PS4 1.84TFs, is truly, truly a technical masterpiece. Even to this day, you're absolutely right.
I actually think, considering the PS4s hardware power compared to current-gen, that TloU2 is even outperforming every current-gen title relatively.
Just proving the point to me that the majority of current-gen software is being (forcefully) rushed, generic Unreal Engine salad or/and as optimized as vitamins i...
Within the last two months, I started playing Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding. Finished DS, currently playing Tsushima.
Playing both on PS5, I was really satisfied or rather impressed by how they look & run. And this still is PS4 code.
I am totally fine with these graphics.
I won't complain when DS2 and Yotéi are probably going to look much better, but I'd rather prefer 40 or 60fps, or just smooth performance in ...
I wish everyone who buys fun with it.
Personally though, there's not a single fibre in my body expressing any form of anticipation and excitment for Starfield to my brain.
The more than lackluster 1st DLC ("We gonna support it as a game of a decade!") then just killed it completely for me.
This thing was announced as a long-tracked EF5 tornado.
But roped out after 100yrds already. Barely even reaching EF...
Hello, @Obscure_Observer!
I'm brutally honest:
I'll miss it.
In nearly every other economy out there there are at least (!) two companies trying to garner people for their business.
As soon as the 360 era ended, Microsoft already wheeled back their efforts competing with Sony. In fact in hindsight, they've actually never prepared for the Xbox One generation the way Sony did with PS4.
They would have sold out videogames in favor of ...
"This is different from the gross profit margin, the difference between sales revenue and the cost of goods sold."
"While contribution margins only count the variable costs, the gross profit margin includes all of the costs that a company incurs in order to make sales."
The contribution margin shows how much additional revenue is generated by making each additional unit product after the company has reached the breakeven point. In othe...
Hm.
Well, if you can't or simply don't want to share sources backing *your* argument, then I have no other choice than to take your statement as just a claim.
Which is totally fine for me.
But no proof.
Interesting.
Would you share your source(s)?
• "Bobby Kotick also believes that Microsoft needed Activision to survive."
Well, even from my perspective as a person totally not involved professionally in the gaming business, I could count 1 & 1 together when I looked at the very first quarter report with ABK included.
Without ABK, the Xbox brand today would ist at roughly 11 to 14 billion USD annual revenue.
Quite possibly with net losses deep in the realm of red.
The duality and spinning with these arguments is indeed annoying.
But since Microsoft still don't release all the really important and meaningful data, those discussions won't ever be fruitful.
All we get in terms of data is revenue and percentages. Or the shallowest meta data like "5 million players", "500m MAU", "biggest launch in franchise history", or no console shipment or sell through data at all.
If I'm not mistaken GP has been around for 7 full years now. With ~34m subs currently.
34m itself is a pretty respectable number.
But especially with their expensive D1 feature I really wonder if GP really is or ever will be a success financially.
It'd be a different story with 50, 60 or 70m subs after 7 years I guess.
It's just too bad we don't get the really important metrics with all their quarter...
Keep in mind it's a 4 week period compared to January 2024 where it was a 5 week period.
Interesting:
Indiana Jones was beaten in dollar sales in its second month by games like The Crew Motorfest and It Takes Two.
You can't even use Gamepass as an argument here, as it's not even in the top 10 on the Xbox platform, and even there, was beaten by other Gamepass games like Flight Sim 24 and Forza Horizon 5 as well.

I want all this AI buzz to be used to finally improve the AI in games.
That's something I would like to see rather than talking about AI re-producing games.
I started playing Death Stranding right after its release, could spent around ~15hrs until I unfortunately had to stop.
This year, I was finally able to re-start and finish the game.
I personally think Death Stranding is such an underrated game in the books. I found it to be a true masterpiece.
I can't wait for the evolution of Death Stranding 2 and the Decima Engine now only being used for PS5 hardware.
Geez, a MGS4 remake, even a PS5/PS5 Pro Enhanced remaster would be SO f'n epic.
"That additional 30% cut that MS would have enjoyed from third-party software sales was also dwindling."
Well said.
I truly think this right there is the real challenge behind Gamepass, financially.
Creating enough new inflow of cash through subs while compensating the loss of the former 30% share + the compensation 3rds now receive for the day-one deal.
That must be quite challenging.
Exactly. Wanted you to point that out by yourself.
And still 9 times more than the S|X.
