^ You can always modify the video/system settings to get the game to run across a spectrum of hardware.

So they can make a game that runs fine in medium settings... and then add in some 'very high' setting that showcases what they can do with modern hardware.

I find Stalker to be pretty amazing.

Although you have a point. A lot of the more innovative games I've played (on PC) haven't been hardware hogs.

Magicka is pretty cool too.. if you're into that kinda gamestyle.

Interestingly, D2D's deal for today is Bioshock2 at 75% off. Now where else have I seen that before? :D

You mean you don't check D2D every single day? =p

Been doing that for the past week due to their 30-days of sales.

A linear game running at 30fps and 720p.
You're expecting the same visuals from a game with large-scale real-time destructibility?
Power isn't restricted to visuals.

Not that it really matters, NaughtyDog themselves said the PS3 was maxed by UC2.

I bought Borderlands GOTY and MagickaComplete for $15 combined... that's value for me.

To others, 5 maps for a game they love is value as well... and considering it's around 3$ per map, most other map-packs for other games cost about the same.

invalid promo code?

Already got the game... but I know people that can use the $6 price tag.

"We want development costs to skyrocket! We can't seem to make technically sound games, so give us more powerful, expensive hardware so that we don't have to become more talented at programming!"

Gotta love that.
Developers want better hardware to improve games, and you're calling them lazy for wanting to do more.

Shut up dice, we're happy with linear, 720p and 30fps games.

... too bad GFWL isn't respectful to the platform.

... but hey, if they're giving it some proper attention then I might check it out down the line. Assuming there is substance to their words.

I highly doubt EA would let Battlefield3 become a steamworks game when they have their own EA-store.

Then again, they do share a lot of business with Valve.

Homefront already uses steamworks on PC. A lot of games do. So it'll mostly be a factor of supporting it on the console end.

Though if devs start using steamworks then that means Valve's pie just got bigger.
A steamwork game means steam has to be installed for the PC version (and all parties need a steam account), and the more people using their infrastructure, the bigger valve gets.

Usually I'd be afraid if I saw a company gaining so much...

You can add this guy.

I chat with people while playing all sorts of games.

You might not find it that useful, but it's a nice feature for those of us that don't want a solitary affair.

5550d ago 4 agree13 disagreeView comment

No, it didn't.

5550d ago 0 agree4 disagreeView comment

The web browser, screenshot tool... and that's about it I think. Or well, the only one that would be useful on a console.

Well, that, and I think the console version is limited to only work on Portal2?
Whereas on PC, you can just enable the steam overlay on almost any game and you've got the entire feature-set.
To many, that's what steam means. The ability to have a bunch of features carried across all games.

5550d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I don't think that'd happen.

Valve does it because they're the publisher and steam is their own platform.
The ps3/pc tie-in isn't entirely benign... valve does a lot of things to get people to install steam, and this is another one of them...

... and once it's installed, you're just another victim for them to hook with their sales. =(

Wolfenstein for me.
Still, they're to the point. I don't really think he's trying to be that funny.... just entertaining.

Yea, screw marketing.
The best way to hype a game is to answer people's questions in interviews.

"I believe that Valve, too, will choose to avoid any offline use of the game, an argument that is supported by the fact that the game will be on Steam."

Why does a game being on steam indicate that it won't be playable offline? O.o

Not fixed, but should be around October.
MoH's pre-orders had something about the beta being available within a year of release.

Crysis2's multiplayer infrastructure was broken on release.
You're going to get hackers and douche-bags when anyone can join a match by using a pirated copy.
That, and I'm not even sure if it even has admin tools.

DICE has been doing a good job with security with BadCompany2... even though I'm not that big of a fan of punkbuster.
