well, not entirely true since the triggers on the xbox360 controllers are touch sensitive, along with the analog joysticks...the regular 4 buttons and shoulder buttons are the only ones on the 360 that aren't touch sensitive (i am assuming you are meaning that the more you push it, the more response you get in a game such as running as opposed to walking, etc.)
yes, secondary markets are a gauge of consumer demand, but you still have to realize that more than half of the consoles sold on ebay (no matter what platform they are) are USED consoles...that means when one person buys an xbox360 or ps3, another person no longer has one due to selling theirs. so if tons of consoles are being sold on ebay, it is indicating there is a big demand for them, but it is also indicating that there are lots of people trying to get rid of them...it's a 1:1 exchange ...
is it just me or does anyone else out there realize that ebay sales mean absolutely nothing for console hardware numbers. whether the 360 or ps3 sell 1 console, or 1,000,000 on ebay, that doesn't amount to anything since most of the consoles on ebay are USED...which means these were already purchased at some point, and now people are selling them to get rid of them. sales from ebay do not expand the actual userbase for microsoft or sony by much (yes, there are brand new consoles on ebay, bu...
i do think that the hdmi port is going to become standard on the premium 360, although it will be packaged just like the Halo Special Edition, without the hdmi cable....otherwise, the only difference between premium and elite would be the harddrive. if they make hdmi standard on the premium, then leaving out the hdmi cable still makes the elite seem like a good deal for someone that wants the larger harddrive space for the elite
absolutely agree...i just got a 4,000 points card so i know exaclty where the first 800 points are going. i have been stoked about this game since they first rumored they were making it for arcade. when i told my buddy (who is a pc gamer and he used to have all the nintendo systems) about bomberman, he said he is now going to consider getting an xbox360 due to all the awesome arcade games and regular games that keep coming out...he is finding it harder and harder to play his pc while i have...
um, do you even understand what the purpose of xboxlive arcade is for?? it is EXACTLY for this reason, to get old classics that everyone loves, along with new games....take a look through the 60 or more arcade games that are currently available and you will find a huge mix of old classics, along with new games created specifically for xboxlive arcade.
what the heck are you complaining about?? xbox DOES have new games as well as older games for arcade....you have ZERO argumen...
okay, it's time to rip bungie and microsoft on this one. i have an original xbox and an xbox360, and have enjoyed playing all the great games, but how can either of these companies allow something like this to happen to a game that has been hyped ever since Halo2 was a bit of a disappointment (although online multiplayer was great).
it is an absolute joke that a game that has been in development for like 2 1/2 years cannot deliver on something like co-op online play. we were ...
this is beyond bizarre. this is going to be interesting to see how two guys that were slinging mud back and forth start playing together nicely :) can xbox and sony fanboys live in harmony from this turn of events???? only time will tell! lol
( i am guessing there will be 2 posts after mine before some kind of bashing begins between fanboys in both camps lol)
you also have to hope that sony is smart enough to NOT charge alot more for a 120gb ps3, if one is in the works. most people already realize that you can upgrade the harddrive of the ps3 quite easily, so sony had better think about the price on this thing long and hard before releasing it....more harddrive space is good, but not if upgrading the harddrive yourself will cost less than buying the bigger harddrive ps3.
you can buy a 120gb harddrive for $70 online, or a 160gb ha...
um, does anyone else realize that this is an OLD article??? it is an article that was written recapping what Microsoft talked about on July 10th at E3...so how did this article get approved? it is a little late to be coming out with this "new" recap article. plus, the headline will make people think that Microsoft had just released some kind of new statement, when in fact this is an old article from over a week ago that is just getting released today....waste of time
i really hope their big announcement is not a music download service and arcade games for Zune through XBL, although that is the most likely considering they already announed IPTV is coming in the fall/winter.
the reason i think it is a music service is because microsoft had just released the Zune player, and had hinted that it might be capable of playing games on it, so the logical step would be for microsoft to offer a music download service, which you could then transfer the...
quite interesting. if sony does come out with yet another ps3 sku (vaguely remember sony ripping on microsoft for having multiple sku's and it being "too confusing" to the consumer), and offers it for $400 then it will probably sell quite well, especially since i still think that a lot of people that want a ps3 are still waiting for a price drop to go below the $499 pricetag.
as for backwards compatibility, i really don't see how this would be eliminated. people are...
um, where in the world do you get your "facts" from??? the ps3 is making money on each console sold? are you on crack??? please show us some proof tha tthe ps3 is making money....the last i heard, the ps3 originally cost around $850 to make, and that was at launch...8 months ago. please show us some proof that the ps3 production costs have reduced by $350 for them to BREAK EVEN at the price of $499 that they are selling them now.
you have it mixed up, because it i...
the production costs will drop significantly when you move from 90nm chipsets to 65nm chipsets. about 6 months ago a report came out saying that it costs microsoft $323 to manufacture an xbox360, so if costs dropped a bit since then, and then the chipset change comes in around august, then they definitely can afford to do it since they are already making money on selling the consoles themselves
that would be really nice if htey dropped the hd-dvd drives also to around $129 since standalones are rumored to drop to $199 for the holidays
i also remember reading that, so this price drop makes sense if it is timed with the updated 65nm chipsets since they are much cheaper to produce than the current 90nm chipsets
in regards to the size of the files, i know that on xboxlive, high-def movies are generally between 5-7gigabytes and standard are around 2-3gigabytes. obviously it all depends on the length of the movie, but highdef about doubles standard def movie sizes. and obviously sizes will be significantly smaller on the psp since you have a small screen and don't hav to provide the movies in large resolutions
that is why i do think downloadable content will work as a RENTAL substitute...
i agree with you to an extent, that digital distribution will not replace retail store sales of movies, but the download distribution is mainly aimed at the movie rental industry.
microsoft has movie downloads on xboxlive, and those are movies that you download for like $5, watch them and then they expire after a while. i would imagine the sony version of movie downloads would work the same way. i really don't think that people would give up on buying movies in retail stor...
Dille is right about one statement in his comments, the xbox360 will not be sustainable for 10 years....but that is because microsoft never planned to have the 360 be it's best console in 10 years. by that time, i would hope that BOTH sony and microsoft have new consoles out. if you think about it, do you really want to be playing the 360 or ps3 in 7, 8, 9 or 10 years? i still have my super nintendo and sega dreamcast, but i have not touched those in years....i want the next best consoles ...
yeah but that loss was the write-off for the extended warranty of $1.2 billion that microsoft issues on the 360, so it turns out the 360 and the gaming division are set to make money in the 2008 fiscal year...not bad that they practically break even on the gaming division if they didn't issue the extended warranties.
this just shows that they are right on track to have the gaming xbox profitable by 2008, just like microsot had been saying all along...looks like all the sony f...
