My friends(real life) and I share games. We buy different games and then swap when we are finished. As none of my friends have a PS3 there really is no benefit for me to choose a PS3 multi-platform game over a 360 one.
Your right I own use my PS3 for exclusives. Multi platform on my 360. Why, because most multi-platform games perform worse on the PS3 than the 360. Not all, but most.

Just because I like my Halos, Killzones, Uncharteds, Mass Effect games doesn't mean I can enjoy games with my kids. I played games since back in the ZX Spectrum days and that was fun. One day you'll have kids and you'll want to introduce them to gaming. Thats where the real fun is, playing with your kids, be it on your PS3, Wii or 360.
