I seem to remember some website reporting that the subscriber number was in the region of 10M earlier in the year. If that's the case then that's a massive hit. Not surprising that Blizzard wouldn't want to flaunt the user number anymore if that's the case.
To be honest it's really something that should have been included at the release of the system as opposed to being thrown in two years later.
Though the Vita still doesn't have downloadable avatars (or it didn't the last time I checked) and that's been on the market a good while longer.
*last gen, not year
Generally speaking consoles aren't doing as well as they did last year worldwide, not just in Japan due to the casuals switching to mobile.
Let's not forget that they also attempted a somewhat forceful takeover of Rockstar shortly before GTA4 was released.
If memory serves, they approached Take2s board directly but once they realised that wasn't going to work they decided to throw their considerable financial weight around instead and tried to get the shareholders to part with their shares in the company.
EA will literally do anything for money, they're like the software equivalent of the Umbrella corp...
@ShowanW
It's well known that once EA get their teeth into you it's the final nail in the coffin.
Using your examples:
Bioware- Started off well but after Mass Effect 1 most of the staff left and are now a shadow of their former selves with more interest in making bug ridden homosexual visual novels than writing coherent endings to their games.
EA Sports- Nuff sad.
Criterion- Have been gradually going down the pan for years. The new always onlin...
This. It can be reasonably argued that Silent Hill only went down the crapper once they broke up team silent and shifted production outside of Japan (a move I'll never understand).
Though I do hear SH Origins was actually pretty good by western Silent Hill standards.
She did the voice of Anna in Shimoneta and Cthuko in Nayruko. Such sad news and so young as well :(
It seems likely for now, I think the problem is with the PS3/360 versions as the game really pushed those systems to their limit. In fact, I think some of the online content is exclusive to the PS4/XO/PC versions, but don't quote me on that as my PS3 died before they started releasing the newer content.
I will say though that I do like that R* are putting out all of this extra stuff in GTA for free, which is more than I can say for some other devs and their games *cough*destiny*co...
I keep hearing that Crash Team Racing is supposed to be pretty good, it's one game I never got around to playing though.
Maybe because at the time I was really into the N64 and only used my PS1 for Resident Evil, Silent Hill and the Final Fantasy games :/
Sonic the hedgehog 2006, the entire game.
£32.99? It's about that pre-owned!
I remember reading something about a Nintendo investor saying that they should put Mario on mobiles and charge extra to have him jump higher.
Scary the way the industry is going.
@Dirtnapstor
There's a difference between turning a profit and nickle and diming people.
They should already be turning a profit from the ridiculously priced DLCs as it is, further microtransactions aren't needed unless to wring even more money out of people.
Bobby Kotex (ironically) is absolutely right. It's not only greedy but opportunistic.
Personally I'd start by firing the writing staff who think writing in frivolous and frankly unneeded romance sub plots are more important than writing in an actual ending.
Some sections of the video is, most of it look as though it is taken from Fallout 3 and its expansions.
To be fair there are a few sites I think should be banned from here. Kotaku and polygon in particular spring to mind.
It's all ifs and maybes at this point. The DC was discontinued purely because Sega just didn't have the cash to support it due to their mistakes during the 16 and 32 bit eras.
Plus the DC did continue to sell after Sega stopped production while stores got rid of their remaining stock.
The problem with the Wii U is Nintendo has the cash to support it but no one wants to buy it.
Let's not pretend that the reason handheld sales have decreased this gen is anything other than the casual plebs have moved on to the next big fad (mobiles).
The handheld market did just fine pre-casual invasion and it will do just fine after it.
That's a lot of 3's
