...at PS3 Attitude that Phil will be back in the gaming industry soon.

So if that's true, this is a pre-meditated career move by Phil. No executive (or career minded person at any level) ever leaves without somewhere to go to.

Leave your conspiracy theories at home on this one people - Phil is off because he wants to do something, and he already knows what that something is. I reckon we'll hear about it very soon...

How on earth did someone click 'disagree' to my statement when Sony already confirmed everything I said only two days ago!!

Don't shoot the messenger, people!

Whilst this makes it easier for PC-based developers to put their code on the PS3, Sony have been quite clear about their PSN strategy at GDC.

They're going for quality, not quantity. Jonathan Mak's Everyday Shooter is a good example of an indie title that managed to get traction with Sony. There are hundreds of Jonathan Maks in the world, but Sony have made it clear they will only pick the very best titles.

This makes user-created games an unlikelihood on the PSN.

The intention won't be to 'support' other platforms at all.

Sony has clearly gone down this route to make it easier for developers to put their games on the PS3 when they are using PC environments to develop on.

This means that developers who are already creating/planning titles that could have previously only appeared on X360 and PC will now be able to easily included PS3 without a great deal of additional overhead, ensuring Sony don't miss the boat on any exciting ...

Could be Syndicate or The Bard's Tale. Or maybe something more leftfield...

The wheel is launched in May 2008.

The details above are the dates for the release of GT5 Prologue (Retail and PS Store) in Europe and the US.

Logitech stated in their press release hat this new wheel would see an early-May release.

The author says that MS is planning a 'freeview' service too, but this is incorrect.

MS is launching a link to BT Vision, which is a subscriber service in the UK. Freeview is - erm - free.

So that'll be two free services on the PS3 (PlayTV, PSN) versus two subscriber services on the X360 (BT Vision, XBL). It shows a clear divide between the two company's business models.

...the competition was pretty mediocre.

We had to choose from a limited release schedule and we just couldn't put our hands on our hearts and say that Turok, NFL Tour, FIFA Street 3 or any of the others would be any better.

As it says in the article, we'd rent The Club rather than buy it but it does have a chance at being more than the sum of it's demo, so give it a go...

PlayTV is for DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) - not just OTT.

Apologies all - we were given duff information by the publisher (see the update above)... what can we do eh? We can only print what we're told...

I mean, we finally start getting some traction for GH III in Europe. But I'm still waiting on Everyday Shooter, PAIN etc.

SCEE know about the issues though and are working on them, so maybe 2008 will see more in the way of simultaneous worldwide PS Store updates...

I just wish they'd bring the series to Europe.

Sega are only just going to deliver Yakuza 2 to the US this year. If they even bother to bring the series to the UK at any point, it's going to be 2009 at least...

:-(

Make that 17 events. 3 new items today alone... 2008 will be busy for PS3 owners - we explained that at length before - http://www.n4g.com/News-969...

...but someone needed to do it. And we already have 14 events (not counting the weekly PSN update) between now and February, plus all the dates of this year's big shows. We'll be adding in much more over the coming weeks - there's a lot to keep on top of in the PS3 world right now, and this is a great way to do it.

...is coming in 2008 regardless for ALL PS3 titles.

However, developers can already access the XMB if they choose to since the capability is available in the dev kit. Resistance is a good example of XMB access in-game, and it's been out ages. PAIN adds Custom Soundtracks too.

So it's here in some form or another for some titles, and coming soon for all titles.

This 'article' compares the RETAIL price of the deal against DISCOUNTED prices at retailers. Not a very fair comparison.

If you compare retail price with retail price, this is a good deal. And I'm sure that someone like GAME will go ahead and discount it further if they can, so it could turn out to be even cheaper still for UK buyers.

It was always just a rumour based on an interview by Kotaku with Masaya Matsuura. I would love a PS3-related Aibo, but it sits pretty low on my 'likely-to-happen' list...

Goodness knows what they're going to put in to Motorstorm 2, since they keep on adding so much excellent content for this game that it could last for years!!

Definitely getting the tracks tomorrow...

'1st of it's kind' is an interesting thought. If they mean by that the first 'IPTV' offering on a console, they might be right.

But with a similar agreement announced last year by Sky to do the same thing for the PSP, and the forthcoming PlayTV announced last year for the PS3, it's almost the norm to have movies, TV and games on one box.

Not forgetting the fact that all you need for the PS3 is an aerial, not yet-another IPTV or set-top box subscription as will be...
