I'll give a different example of gameplay being good enough on it's own, to where story does not matter:
Borderlands.
It was the game play that compelled me to play through all four characters in the campaign, and buy DLC extra missions. The 'story' was nothing more than a bunch of errand missions, and not at all interesting. But the game was fun as hell IMHO, regardless of what story they wanted to tack on to it's structure.
Nope, there is no "Halo effect" on sales of Super Mario Bros for the Wii. People love those Super Mario games.
LOL, why waste time writing an opinionated article about how a game console is "finished", after selling over 40 million units? Sounds rather dumb to me.
The main issue with PC gaming that made me eventually throw in the towel & stick with consoles is the never ending arms race between software & hardware makers. As soon as a new graphics card comes out, a software developer tries to max the capabilities out with a new game. If your rig is a few years old, you then have to decide if you want to pass on that game, upgrade hardware, or have it run poorly on your sub-par system.
A really addictive game has good game play & story. But gameplay is most important when playing a game IMO. If the game play sucks, I'd rather watch a movie if I want to see a good story.
After all the backstories have come out on these technologies, and seeing how these companies are pushing forward, one conclusion is fairly obvious about Kinect & Move...
Kinect: MS chose it because it is different & contrary to Wii. They are hoping it is going to be popular, but it is purely speculative if it will be or not. They have carefully avoided exposing weaknesses, and pumped it up with somewhat dishonest demos & hype on future capabilities. It is MS...
Do people really buy games because a store website says "you may also like..."?
If you don't have money to throw away on things you may end up not using, that is a pretty dumb way to shop.
People rip Game Stop because of bad experiences shopping at that 2nd rate store. That is not a cliche. It is called customer feedback.

Some of the default motion controls to Heavy Rain with the sixaxis controller are kind of wierd. I would think they could probably improve on that with a dedicated motion controller like Move.

It is funny that people that complain about T ratings sound like they are not old enough to buy MA games.
It is not intended to be a mega blockbuster. It will be successful with it's fans for the smaller budget game that it is.

It was more than a demo, but not as much as a full game. I think it was a bit overpriced, but I played the hell out if it, so feel like I got my money's worth.
I totally forgot about the zombie level of Uncharted. That was somewhat jarring to me while playing the game, because the game had been grounded in reality up to that point, & very good while staying in that realm. It totally felt like they ran out of ideas and said, "Ok I guess we'll have to add a zombie level so the game isn't too short".
