Love film is a big player in the rental market these days and they do BOTH formats.

I also agree with some of you this blog is not news...blogs are only news when they are written by industry professionals.

Yeh i owned about 60 or so DVDs till a few months ago when I sold most of em...if I want to rewatch them i'l just add em to me love film list, saves taking up space.

I just went through everything in my house and though "what have I not looked at in over a year, what am I not likely to look at in the next year"...lots of stuff went in the clearout!

whilst you two are at it: I am 29, have a wife 3 kids, a car, a house and 2 pet cats! :P

anyway...it sounds like you are striking a healthy balance between gaming as a hobby and your real life (as do i) but when youngsters in particular do nothing but game all day, I would definately say they were "addicted"...gaming of any sort is addictive, as you get a high when you accomplish the task, and SOME people can get addicted to this feeling very quickly, just like in gam...

yeh but the games also cost about 10 times more money to produce...you need huge teams now to develop next gen games, compared to say a 16Bit games, with myabe only 6 in the team.

You do know a billion is a million million right? thats:

1,000,000,000,000

Or one 6th of the worlds population.

and that doesn't include all the illegal copies out there!

I'm not one for buying many DVDs i prefer to rent em.

I think gaming addiction is certainly a problem, I noticed it in my stepson, he would stay in and play games himself all day if we let him, and I ended up having to ban him from the console.
I think it is generally just another sympton of depression though...people get addicted to soaps, daytime TV, and of course drugs/alcohol, but gaming can be just as destructive...people missing school, not socialising etc.

I do feel though if it wasn't gaming they were addicted to, i...

I like the ideo of interent through the telly, its about time somebody developed this and I'm sure the major TV manufacturers will also catch on.

I think from the sounds of this preview, if they cut a few scenes it'll probably be given a rating by the BBFC.
It doesn't sound like my cup of tea though...perhaps when I was 16, i probably would have loved it then (when I was a huge death metal fan).

Screens seem quite dark in contrast to the 360 and PC (pardon the pun!)

Looks pretty much the same though

As a 360 owner I badly want a space where I can meet and chat with other 360 gamers without having to leave my console, and I think if Sony pull this off with Home (which I think is a lot like Second life on the PC in many ways) it could be a great USP for the PS3.

I hope M$ are listening and developing something similar.

Yeh I think its the way forward...perhaps one day instead of buying CDs or DVDs, we'll just walk in with a memory stick to download it direct from the shops super computer instantaneously...that would be even more eco friendly.

As a relatively new 360 owner, I new very well about the hardware failures on the 360, but I still decided it was a better buy than a PS3.

I am surprised the 360 hasn't been on the BBCs watchdog programme yet though, but that is probably due to MS customer service sorting out most of the problems efficiently.

Hmm well I am in two minds about this.

I wouldn't for a second compare Manhunt 2 with Se7en, se7en was genius, Manhunt is nothing more than a gorefest, it has nothing "to say" about society or the minds of a killer and it gives players very little choice except to kill people in the most brutal ways possible.

This I believe is why the BBFC ruled against it (this being only the second game they have ever banned) because the player doesn't have a choice i...
