It depends. If a game is good, it’ll typically sell more than enough to make up for its development costs and then some.

You basically just listed old features that have yet to change things for Xbone, as well as opinion stats. Yes, I sincerely believe Spider Man and an exclusive RDR2 bundle will keep PS4 well ahead of Xbone this holiday. Xbone hasnt won a single NPD since October 2016, and in 2018, PS4 has outsold by more than 3:1, despite PS4 sales being down YoY while Xbone is up YoY.

Eh, I liked Gen 4. If I had to pick a worst, it would definitely be Gen 6 (though I haven’t play 7 yet). It added the least amount of new Pokémon of any gen, mega evolutions felt very underwhelming, and the games overall just felt too easy. The one thing that I will say is that Yveltal is pretty badass.
Problem is Pokémon as a game has already become way too easy, not that the franchise was ever really hard to begin with. A casual Pokémon Go expansion just seems like overdoing it. If you’re a true Pokémon fan, there’s no denying that this Let’s Go game is utter dog crap. It’s not even a good placeholder to play while we wait for the gen 8 games.
In all fairness, FH has done decent numbers throughout this gen, but that’s mainly relative to Forza MS. I don’t think either are big hardware pushers though.
It’ll help them sell more, and maybe (very loose maybe) win a NPD, but with Sony putting out Spider Man and possible exclusive bundles for RDR2 and BO4, as well Switch putting out Smash and Pokémon Let’s Go, MS is going to have their work cut out for them. Overall though, I doubt it. Despite all their E3 hype, they really don’t have much for this year or next to justify investment, and then of course there’s the announcement of new hardware already.
