Oh look, more pre-planned DLC. You know, stuff ready to go that SHOULD have been on the disc in the first place.
MSRP for games these days, after all "hidden" costs = $90 - $120. Thanks!
I agree. There's a huge difference between adding content to a game to extend its life... IE, Rock Band, and having DLC ready to go BEFORE the game hits, which should be on the goddamn disc.
I'm curious as to where you are getting this information about Sony letting go of first party devs? It has long seemed apparent that Sony's gameplan is to foster their OWN studios, since that allows for exclusive and original content that cannot be found elswhere, since they own not only the studio but the IP as well. This is different from MS, who instead of building their own studio group, sees fit to purchase rights to third party games instead.
I don't see Sony selling off ...
I respect Molyneux, a lot. But frankly, this is part of a slippery slope idea. If we start holding back reviews now because content is not ready on launch, we need to do it for ALL games. We should wait for Protoman in MM9. We should wait for new maps to hit Gears 2. We should wait for new modes to hit R2. We should wait for the expanded DLC to reach GTAIV. It's only fair. If the game isn't ready, DO NOT SHIP IT.
This is a problem with the industry today. Publishers street date...
And I can't stand people who think DLC is a good thing.
To each his own.
What I find sad is fanboys defending Live, when no one is questioning the quality of the service. It IS a quality service, it has had years to grow.
But why do they feel the need to defend EVERY aspect of it? Why does one saying "I think it should be free" translate in their minds to "Xbox Live sucks." No one is saying that. I just don't get fanboy logic. Is it some sick form of loyalty to the company raping their wallets?
Not only is it ok t...
It's a figure of speech, but in a sense, you're right. It just burns me to see people so bitter over this stuff and slamming one another over a console, as the companies and media laugh all the way to the bank with OUR money.
Maybe I just miss the time in gaming where you could EARN and UNLOCK things instead of having to simply pay for DLC. The more mainstream and "casual" this hobby gets, the more diluted it has become. Blah.
"The irony in it all is that if it were to become free, it would be counter productive for the PS3."
Or it would... gasp... cause Sony to step things up, as MS has now that PSN is threatening it. Competition. Back and forth. My god, you're the kind of "gamer" that MS loves. One who takes everything they shove at them, including the price tag trickled out over the years of nickel and diming, and says "yes please give me some more."
Op...
LOL. Yes. Let's turn this into a PS3 vs Xbox 360 pissing match again. My god, you people are so narrow minded its almost sad. You rally against one another, fellow GAMERS, instead of these companies.
Face it, no one WANTS to pay for online. If you WANT to pay for online, no matter how little, on top of ISP costs, you are a FOOL, period. Especially with a recession going on. More important things than online gaming gents.
No, its all about ZOMG ps3 am betta, no 36...
LOL. Easy turbo, no need to go all fanboyish defense on me. I'm not slighting the precious 360 that people seem to love to ride, metaphorically speaking of course. What I'm mocking is the BS people eat up from these companies, who
1) Don't care about us, so no need to defend them
2) WILL screw us over any chance they get (hallo thar Namco DLC!)
3) Get caught in bold faced lies
In this case, Square Enix, not MS. But that's the nature of the beast, its bus...
It's like, I COULD point out Burnout, DMC4, or Oblivion, but why bother?
Now now guys, POG has every right to point out that catering to the lowest common denominator is a bad thing. I mean, despite making 360 fanboys happy, we know that sadly, the once great FFXIII, a PS3 exclusive, will now be butchered thanks to MS's monyhatting.
Gone will be the 1080p, lossless audio cinematics that would once bookend the game. Gone will be the full use of Bluray to fit an epic ...
Kigmal... who cares what they THINK? Does it impact YOUR enjoyment of the game if both versions end up being the same, but someone THINKS the 360 version is slightly inferior?
What do I want to see?
Kingdom Hearts 3, PS3
Star Ocean 4 PS3 announced (wont happen till 2009, guaranteed)
Playable XIII and Versus XIII.
FINAL MIX + coming to US, not just Re:CoM
Haha, yeah that was hilarious when they were caught in bold faced BS in that interview with Star Ocean.
Question is, when will Vesperia, Star Ocean, and more be hitting the PS3?
So you pick Spider-Man 3, the third movie in a hugely budgeted trilogy that did well on sales, but is widely regarded to be probably the worst of the series, as your example? Thanks for proving my point again actually. Quality and sales do not always go hand in hand, but marketing and name recognition do. Look at the commercials pushing Venom. People wanted to see Venom I'd wager. What did they get? 10 mins of screen time and a subpar resolution.
In my other case, I'm not talki...
I was speaking more of the franchise than any single iteration. I mean... both Mountain Dew AND an award for being part of Mountain Dew on G4 I believe it was?
Sure, as I said, it must be doing something right. Doesn't mean its flawless though. Or the epitome of the genre. Or the second coming of christ as people toss it about. Everything is flawed in some way. To ignore those flaws is to screw ourselves and allow devs to push out subpar crap that is just rehashed from the prequels. Also, if we go simply by sales to define quality, instead of our own opinions, well then we are just shafting ourselves. Titanic is the greatest movie ever, fact, right?...
It still must have some quality to it to still be selling. While I personally feel 3 was a letdown and the campaigns have steadily gotten worse, squandering a great storyline and missing opportunities, the multiplayer aspect has kept people coming back for more. In that respect, Bungie has been successful. I just wish people would realize Halo is as flawed as any other title, and stop taking it as a personal insult when a) someone doesn't like it b) someone points out the flaws.
There is no such thing as a "game killer" because the original game is still, well, the original. Both can co-exist, why is this such a hard concept?
I can see a game eating away some popularity, like CoD4, in a sense, could be considered a Halo 3 "killer" in that it toppled it on Live for a while. But the Halo games are still sold, the fanbase still exists. What did it "kill?" Do people now hate Halo because of CoD? Are we allowed to like only one...
Please forgive uneducated noobs who know nothing about design and think bloom = win.
