The last L4D didn't have much content, it relied on its replayability. To me, it felt like it should have been bundled w/ other games, kind of like the Orange box. 60$ is a lot of money to pay for a game, especially when you consider Valve didn't support the console version w/ patches.
I really don't think I'll be buying anymore Valve software in the future. Team Fortress Classic is one of my all time favorite games, I couldn't figure out why TF2 was so disappointing. It took V...
Played the demo, wasn't very impressed. The sound effects are terrible. Usually I don't care about sound, but these ones were so bad it made me cringe. The weapons are all pretty vague and generic. The graphics themselves are nothing to write home about.
I geuss it does have lower standards though since it is a network game, but I for one would rather play UT3(seeing as how I already own it.)
Motion Controllers are just a gimmick. I don't care who makes them. You don't release a peripheral like that this late in the console cycle if your serious about developing for it. This tech wont be out until late next year, how much longer do you people think the 360 will be out?
At 200$, I really don't see this tech spreading fast enough to warrant all these predictions that it will 'change teh face of gaming'.
Its sad that we're sitting here talking about a gl...
It fascinates me how many blatant fanboys try and pass themselves off as non-biased.
MS didn't have a single game of the year contender.
Halo ODST looks like the same gameplay from HALo1 2 3. Its sad that they favor Splinter Cell over MS's flagship game. And I don't see how the new Splinter Cell is anything to get excited about. They barely went into depth on that game, all they did was show you how your objectives are written on the wall(really earth shattering...
That's news to me. Personally, I was expecting a lot more. I thought it look really cheap how you can spot people behind doors, and then basically pop out and kill them automatically.
I would say hands down Uncharted beats Splinter Cell. Just because Splinter Cell is MS's best offering doesn't qualify it as a contender.
They really didn't get into the whole open world in Splinter Cell. They just showed one brief portion of the game. At this point, we still don't ...
And I am well aware of the fact they have bargains online for MS points, but that still doesn't make it better. Why should you have to jump through all those hoops in the first place?
You call that a good business model? PSN's structure is much more consumer freindly. I have over 10 PSN games on my PS, and only 3 of them i bought. And I didn't have to jump through any hoops or buy into a misleading point scheme.
You can only buy them in increments, which means your usually left w/ extra points your not using. So basically, you just invested your money in a worthless currency.
Every thing should just be at face value, like Nintendo or PSN do it. There is absolutely no excuse for using points, it is simply skeeming your customers.
And like other people have pointed out, when you buy a PSN game you can share it. That far outweighs whatever points you might find discounted....
I'd really love to see a video of somebody playing a racer w/ this thing. What are you going to do, shout 'break 80%' 'rotate steering wheel counter clockwise 44 degreess'.
From the racing game I saw them demo, it looked really generic. To accelerate, all the guy did was move his foot foward, it didn't gage how far he moved his foot, it just accelerated to a predeterming speed.
Making subtle movements is not this tech's forte. A lot of hardcore games live or die...
But Sony was right, what they said during their Motion Tech demonstration. You need something tangible. You need some kind of feedback. Whether if be a joystick or a pressure sensitive button.
W/O some form of controller, you aren't playing the game, the game is playing you.
I really thought Splinter Cell was going to be better, they made such a big deal out of delaying it to improve it.
I thought it was cheap how you can spot and mark people under doors and basically kill them automatically.
It doesn't really seem like they changed much for the new splinter cell except upgrade some graphics.
Motion Tech is just a gimmick, how hard is it for people to realize that? Next year it will probably be 3-D graphics that all the companies are trying to pimp at E3.
I always thought E3 was supposed to be about games. Its no wonder MS made their presentation more about features, because they have a void in their software lineup. They don't have a single GOTY contender. Sony has Agent, The Last Gaurdian, FF14, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, and GT5. The closest thing MS has is Halo Re...
Nerdgasm Confirmed
That wouldn't be setting the bar very high
I really don't think MS has a shot in hell at getting this game, not unless they release a 360 w/ a disc changer.
Start making 360s w/ 2 disc drives
They would have released Hi-Def drives on all 360s. If they would have done so, the format would be competitive with blu ray, which by the way, is raking in money for Sony. Blu Ray has expanded faster than DVD did when it was announced.
Sure it would have been slightly more costly, but the profits from HD DVD would have easily made up for it. Just look at Blu Ray, it has over a 20% market share now - rising rapidly.
Until then we will get games like GTA, which ar...
It funny, I always thought E3 was about the games. We knew going into this that MS didn't have a strong lineup, so its no surprise that they made it about features. If I want to facebook like a 16 year old girl, or twitter, I get on my PC.
Lets look at the titles. Sony showed like 1/2 a dozen game of the year contenders. God of War 3, Heavy Rain Uncharted 2, Agent, The Last Gaurdian, GT5, and FF14. On top of that they have Quantum Theory, Ratchet and Clank, White Knight Chronic...
They aren't going to replace regular controls for hardcore gaming, nor would you want them to. That would just be fn boring. Motion tech is about selling casual games, wake up!
Not being impressed by NATAL or Sonys Motion Tech, I really think this was MS's weakest showing. Only a couple of their games are actually coming out this year, and none of them were GOTY caliber like UNCHARTED 2. Halo ODST, get real, your gonna have to do more than that than impress me. What is that now...
Forza really never sold that well to begin w/. Go to your local gamestop and check out how many used copies they have behind the counter, your jaw will drop.
What w/ SE bloated schedule. Lets see, what do they have coming up, FF13, FF14, FFVersus, etc.
My money is on either the new David Jaffe Project(Twisted Metal 3) or Syphon Filter.
But I just can't bring myself to believe that MS won the show. Now I have no problem admitting that MS won the past 2 e3s, but this one I felt was their weakest showing if you want to talk software.
From what I gather, alot of people feel Splinter Cell is their strongest game. As great as I think it is that they are focusing on an interesting storyline for a change, they still didn't get down to showing us how the new gameplay mechanics work. They only showed us a small portion...
