Interesting, I'll have to pick this one up once I get paid. Been busy with some gamefly games.
I love reading comments and posts from people talking about the Cell or the Xenon that have no idea how processors actually work. It's also funny to see people quote Dave Shippy without actually reading his book or reading the actual context of that quote.
1. Don't comment upon that which you do not know.
2. Read a little bit further than some soundbyte that you think proves your favorite doodad is better than someone else's doodad, thus making you awesome.
Yeah, I am very skeptical. I would have to see it in action before buying.
LOL! That's exactly what I was going to say, Douche. Looks like a magnifying glass for old people to help them read. Is this for geriatric gamers?
Wow, tempting but I will probably stick with the Hardened Edition. I'd consider myself a hardcore CoD fan, but I'm not THAT hardcore.
Actually, the SPEs ARE processors. The P stands for Processing. SPE == Synergistic Processing Element, where PPE == Power Processing Element. The "Power" is because the PPE is based on IBM's "Power"PC chip just like the X360 is.
Think of the SPEs as your muscles and the PPE as your brain. The brain tells the SPEs what to do, the SPE does it and the PPE helps keep the muscles working together. Not the best analogy, because the PPE can do processing too. But it...
Hahahaha! It makes me laugh to think that Sony gives a crap what names they get called.
Technically that's true. The Cell BE has a one core PPE that is the "general purpose" processing core, compared to the X360's 3 cores. Then again the PPE can run 2 threads simultaneously per clock cycle, making it as powerful as 2 cores. So if a developer only used the PPE, then they would get less performance from the CBE than from the X360.
But, tack onto that the 7 SPEs, each in their own right a 3.2ghz processing core, you've got 9 cores worth of processing to the ...
On. The. Nose. Great comment.
Both sides made mistakes, but Sony is getting reamed because Sony was the king with PS and PS2. It is so much cooler to diss the former champion than the young upstart, regardless of the severity of their mistakes. Sony could have caught up to and doubled the sales of the 360 right now and would STILL be getting bashed and proclaimed a failure. The media have already made up their mind, and they get better revenues with bad news about a tech giant li...
Fanboys in general just need to shut up. If I liked the 360 more, I'd buy a 360. If I liked the PS3 more, I'd buy a PS3. Why must we then deride those that chose the other route? It's even more ridiculous considering the majority of people that would even care about which is better, those that would consider themselves to be "gamers", own both systems; maybe even a (gasp!) Wii too!
It's about as ridiculous as being a self-professed Pepsi lover that posts frequently to ...
I LOVED RFG, it's very satisfying to smash things with a giant hammer. Especially one in the form of a giant bird. I only wish the Ostrich Hammer was available in the single player campaign too.
ouch! I'd say that's 98% accurate.
nice! I wonder how long until there is virtual PS Home pr0n? Oh wait, I'm sure there already is.
It cracks me up how people complain that the PS3 is too expensive, but then they want new amazing features added constantly AND a price drop, etc.
1. The PS3 firmware is essentially its Operating System, like Windows for a PC or MacOS for a Mac, or Linux for nerds like me. How often do new versions of Windows come out? Windows XP was released in 2001. It took another year for XP Service Pack 1, and another 2 years for XP Service Pack 2. Those would be your minor updates like 2.4...
That is a hardware failure, either a dead power supply or motherboard. There is a guide on the PlayStation LifeStyle forums for repairing motherboard-related YLOD, but of course there is some risk there of just rendering it completely unrepairable.
I finally got a YLOD on one of my PS3's, but the other 3 have been rock solid including my 60GB launch unit. The one that YLOD'd is the one that my cat likes to sleep on. ;-)
Another reason why I hate software patents. Reeeetaaaarded.
Care to give us a source for this? Otherwise, don't post.
No, it was "cancel a recording session", not backing out on the game.
These aren't the polygons you're looking for...
I'm definitely intrigued by this game. Looks like it will be very good.
