All the multi platform game hate on this site. the irony is 85% of games released in a calendar year are multi platform games.
Cheaper price hand helds have always sold better than the more expensive ones regardless if that system had more power or better features.
The casual market comsumer purchases the most hand helds based on history of buying data from years past and with a recession still going and the increased marketshare from tablet and cell phone gaming increasing at an alarming rate devouring dedicated handheld marketshare, it's going to be real difficult for a dedicated handheld that is price...
At $169.99 it will be hard now for the Vita to beat out the 3DS.
When the 3DS was the same price as the Vita, hands down the Vita would beat out the 3DS.
With the price cut, it's going to be that much harder.
GT5 was considered a letdown. This is not just coming from a few forums.
Quite a few GT loyal fans have said this. Even on this site alone. The numbers are bigger than you think.
As a matter of fact it was major talks of discussion around the gaming web when GT5 was released with luke warm responses and issues it had.
The truth is it was a letdown from previous GT games in many ways.

COD is more fast pace FPS game that is more of an arcade shooter. It's the reason it has a huge following...also it is very easy to pick up and play.
This is why so many 7-12 year olds play the game.
BF3 is more tactical and requires more skill to play and team work. It will also be the reason that those same 7-12 year olds won't be playing BF3.

PS1 and the PS2 had design flaws and hardware issues with the drives and heat dissipation, yet Japanese consumers bought them. Both times. So they were fooled again and again...just to quote you ;-)
So it has nothing to do with reliable products per say because the first two playstation consoles were not exactly made reliable. One console had over heating issues that would warp the plastic disk CD Drive and the other console had disk read error.
It's only the PS3 for Sony ...
IGN just got this hate this generation. This really became evident when they gave some XBOX360 games good reviews and some PS3 games poor reviews. At that point they were labeled biased and bought off by Microsoft or Rockstar games and others.
IGN reviews imo are mediocre, however i always found it quite funny how they are always flamed on N4G saying they are pro Microsoft.

The real sad truth is smart phone and tablet gaming has become quite the factor in making decent profits for developers. Its also taking market share away from dedicated hand held gaming

SMART PHONES and Tablet gaming continue to eat huge amounts of market share from dedicated hand held gaming. That's the biggest threat to the Vita and 3DS. In order for the Vita and 3DS to be successful they MUST capture the casual and average consumer gaming market. That demographics makes up most of the hand held game sales based on past spending history. That market however is shrinking because of cell phone and tablet gaming.
Which is also ironic also as those very same Asian developers almost always create female characters in their games as white or a cross between white and Asian. But almost predominately white

I don't know if it's the "future" as they claim, but it will and has taken and will continue to take market-share from other forms of gaming.
As of now mobile technology is currently the fastest growing market for tech right now.
And yet the PS3 version of GTA 4 was subhd...
GT5 did not look that great. It has its moments but too many trade offs were made and it shows...
