Hoffman you may get a couple of intelligent responses and then n4g will kick in and it will be all fanboy from there.

People that believe Microsoft will try to end this generation first must also believe Microsoft is in gaming for the sake of the games completely. If not, there is no real reason to believe they are in any more of a rush to move on than Sony is. Both companies should be making a profit on each unit sold, both are selling well, the games for both are selling we...

I never thought it would flop. I believed it would be a moderate success. But like mentioned above it would have been because of the games they have shown so far. I know the PS4 doesn't have the power to push the hardcore games that would truly make it successful.

Then I heard there is an external processing unit which most likely contains a second gpu. That changes everything as far as experiences go. It should allow for the hardcore games people really want. Since Sony...

I believe the next machines will have 4k. I'm betting Microsoft will go with dual GPUs. One embedded within an APU and one discrete. The one on the APU will be geared towards physics and pushing the two OSes. Yes, they will stick with the three OS system with one being a hypervisor. It makes for a truly flexible system.

With the discreet card focused on graphics and the other performing compute the main card(discreet) will be the most powerful and with a decreased worklo...

That's real key, the audience each is aimed at. There will be some who buy both, but Uncharted will be for mostly an older crowd. Ratchet and Clank will launch with the movie and have its Wii game pricing to bring in a younger audience. Get'em started early.

New TVs usually hit stores in March or April. Best time to look. Just like with cars when the new inventory comes in the old inventory has to go somewhere. So they discount it heavily to get it out the door.

All this talk of smart spacing and business savvy is kinda of nonsense. Uncharted was planned for November. Now it's moved to April. The games often just come out when they are ready. They try to plan things but spacing is often a matter of chance. Besides with Uncharted now in April this article is no longer relevant. It was the key to the argument. Now you have baseball, no one outside of Japan and Cuba really likes anymore, and Streetfigher. Not as big a lineup and the baseball game i...

It has a lot of technology in it. A second gpu, sensors or might even have a second APU. With them willing to take a loss they might bring it out at $350. And since the others won't require additional hardware it gives them a chance to compete on price. I don't think Oculus or Hive will be anymore than $400-500.

I think people will pay $400, which is what I believe it will cost. If they can't keep up with Oculus and Hive they will fall behind in adoption rates and developers will stick with PC. This is already a technology more in line with the PC demographic because its more willing to spend money every couple of years to upgrade. It's normal in the PC space.

Also the price to play will drop faster on PC. The 970 is a $350 card today but B next summer its a $200 midrange car...

I have to admit, troll or not, that was pretty funny.

That said, I think the main takeaway from this is that Microsoft is already trademarking IP which could only mean that the launch window for a consumer Hololens is closer than people believe. This also means they may have already been working on this for a while which could mean a 2017 E3 showing. Maybe this coming E3.

Minecraft and that space game are up and running, maybe this and others are too. Given t...

Best arcade flight. I'm partial to the Jane's flight simulators overall. Though I'd have to go through the huge learning curve again. The manual on those games was always a couple of inches thick.

This is the game that will sell some units. Forget the exploration, do stuff you could actually be doing crap and rollercoasters( though being a front row rider does make rollercoaster VR kinda cool). This is what id buy it for. This alone would make me shell out the $400.

Rain I'm going to ignore the clown and move on to an adult conversation. I will say people like him are what lets those that can see past their noses know that there is still so much opportunity out there. They will never start a company like King and sell it to Activision for 4 billion because they will say what does Activision want with an app.

But I'm sorry you're wrong. That is exactly what they want to do. They want games that scale from PC to phone and every...

So a game played on a device that's held in the palm of your hand isn't a handheld game? Explain why not. Because the phone has other features? Doesn't Vita play movies and have a tv receiver? Doesn't it play music? Can't you make VoIP calls on Vita? According to your logic and the geniuses that agreed, a gaming PC is a console. Everything is defined strictly by its main function right? Cars aren't cars because they have a radio.

Games are apps. If yo...

They basically already have. With Universal apps. Once DX12 gains widespread adoption many developers will add a component usable on phones.

Me-Time, if my grammar is correct I'm "sure" you meant to add a comma after "And I'm pretty". But I don't know what your looks have to do with anything. I "sure" hope you do. If not you're really very confused.

The redesigns are attractive to some people but it's mainly the console manufacturer and retail that want a smaller unit. The retailers are simple, less space. Consoles drive traffic and are some of their best sellers. They want to have a lot of units to sell so smaller is better.

For manufacturers it's several things. Smaller matters because it reduces the need for a lot of the things used to make the console. A smaller box, less packaging materials, smaller fans and...

Actually I read from another engineer that the Xbox One design seems to be built with higher clock speeds in mind. Also the additional workloads that DX12 will bring in draw calls and GPU demand will need a more robust cooling system which is why they went with the overkill. Like Phil said, "They knew what DX12 was doing when they designed Xbox One".

So they probably know a little better what they were trying for.

Actually Iceman there are many other things that reduces the price for consoles. Each year the cost for the parts gets re-negotiated or has built in reductions. The processes for making the chips matures and the number of bad chips produced goes down significantly. Then there are economies of scale where increased production gets a better price not too different from you buying products from a grocery store. The larger pack is a better deal. In that respect Sony should be getting extremely go...
