I'd buy their entire stock at that price if i was in japan.
Buy them all out, wait 6 months for the 1000 model to be completely discontinued then stick them all on Ebay for $300 per, people will be paying out the crapper for that OLED. This is like PS3 60GB vs 80GB all over again.
The track pads have a new type of haptic feedback under them.
This type of high resolution track pad also would not be anything like a touch screen on an ipad or other tablet, it should have 1:1 or very nearly 1:1 tracking with a much smoother movement.
Valve is also sending them out for beta testing so they will be getting alot of feedback from gamers who actually use them, they wouldn't release something like this if it didn't work as intended.
Traditional analog sticks aren't even close to the speed or precision of a mouse, not by a mile.
1. You do not need a Dpad when you have this type of track pad.
2. Opening ones eyes before looking at a picture tends to help.
3. Never mentioned one way or another, no alternate angle pictures shown, you have no way of knowing if it does or not.
4. It has 6 triggers. The top ones are both 2 way rockers plus there are 2 more Z-style triggers on the back.
I wouldn't jump straight out and call it "awesome" but it does look like an interesting concept that could have some nice benefits. I need to actually get it in my hands to know for sure.
@Heartnet: The track pads on laptops aren't exactly high resolution, The ones on the Steam pad should be alot better. Think of them more like flat track balls vs a laptop style touch pad, should be nearly 1:1.
No analogs because analogs suck, they are slow and imprecise.
This controller is designed to bridge the gap between console controllers and the high performance of a mouse, or atleast get as close as possible. The dual track pads will take some getting used to but will provide far better speed and accuracy.
Read the entire page and the reasoning for the design instead of just looking at the pictures and you will understand it.
Better than i expected.

Creative hasn't been that good for about 12 years now, they are along the same "gaming junk" line as gaming headsets.
Anything from the Asus Xonar line or HT Omega is much better as far as sound quality is concerned.
PhysX does have to do with physics, the graphical effects are part of it.

Watch at 0:45 and 1:09 for some good examples.
AMD sometimes has more powerful hardware, it is about a 50/50 in that regard. Nvidia always has much better drivers though and they release new drivers to increase performance with new games far more often.
Nvidia also provides much larger gains in SLI vs Crossfire and is alot more stable.
How is it interesting? GDDR5 has been standard as VRam for about 5 years now.
They won't get the patent.

@Zeref:
So you think you know more about it than Valve themselvs? Sry but you are the one getting the wrong idea, learn to read before you post.
SteamOS is an operating system based on Linux, it will be used directly on TVs and other living room devices and is even being provided for free to tv manufacturers to be pre-installed on TVs. It has nothing to do with streaming.
Video is broken, will not load.
Edit: Seems it is loading but it won't play on its own. Every time i click the play button it just plays 1 frame then stops so i have to keep rapidly clicking the play button.
@Pixel_Enemy:
What is with this new redundancy fad?
Yeah that was unfortunate about the Dreamcast, great system but a dumb as nails company behind it.
Bad rap after the 32x/SegaCD & then the Saturn, mixed with first minute release (Came on stage at E3, first announcement of Dreamcast, then say suprise, it is on store shelfs now) even 90% of 3rd party devs didn't know about it til it was out, so hardly any games for it. Nobody had a chance to save up for it and everyone who did have money was already planning the money ...
Lol even with the lemonade gag he still couldn't figure it out, kinda sad.
Worse yet all the agree's with him and disagree's with you lol, i swear sometimes it seems like everyone on N4G has a brain tumor or something.
"The wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead"
What is the point of this? there are already cheats built into all GTA games with simple button combinations or cell numbers. Game Genie codes would be redundant.
$800m @ $60/copy is around 13.3m copies, on day 1
The highest selling Squeenix game ever is FF VII which only sold 10m total (including both PC versions)
There won't be a Red Dead Redemption 2 as Red Dead Redemption was 2.
The name of the franchise is simply Red Dead. The next game if they make one will be the 3rd in the series and will not be called redemption.
