Blocking someone and calling them a creep just for calling him out on a blatant lie... talk about massively douchy. The entire gaming community on twitter should block Polygon.

Proper Hi-fi headphones, not those cheap toys commonly refered to as "Gaming Headsets"

Something like Sennheiser HD 598/600s, Shure SRH-840/940s, Denon AH-D2000, even Audiotechnica ATH-M50s which are only about $150 are substantially better than ANY gaming headset.

Also make sure to get a decent portable amp to properly power them, do not plug them directly into the console or tv.

@RevXM:

For starters, Moore's law expired a few years ago, it was never intended to be a permanent rule, as a matter of fact it was never a "rule" to begin with, it was an observation of current trends.

Second, we are on the edge a substantial generational leap in computing power with the technologies i listed, Mantle alone has the potential to easily give a 2x increase on its own. Then you have stacked DRAM, DDR4 and possibly even Re-Ram which ...

3 Titans do scale, just not as much as the first 2, the 4th decreases performance on most games by about 5%. A few games get a slight increase from the 4th but that is very rare.

It is possible for 4 to scale but Nvidia's drivers don't fully support quad SLI for Titans yet, games also have to be coded a certain way for them to take advantage of it which is why for most games the 4th actually decreases performance slightly. They simply aren't made to properly recog...

@Studio-YaMi:

Never said more than 5% of people had that kind of rig, matter of fact i would guess it is more like 0.001%, the point was simply that it is possible to build a system of that power.

Also yes i know no games take advatage of it, hence the "Now all we need is developers that are willing to actually spend the time and money to code a game that takes advantage of it."

Didn't disagree with you btw.

There is more to visual capablities than just flops. Also a PC can have up to 4 single GPU video cards at once, the Geforce Titan is 4.5Tflops x 4 is 18Tflops. Then there is the power from the CPU and the Ram which current PCs can pack up to 128GB of, i think there are actually a couple boards that support 256GB already.

Regardless, his numbers are a bit off.

The PS4 is 8x the power of a PS3
The best possible quad sli PC is around 40-50x the power of ...

Yes, You aren't achieving anything if all you have to do to get it is start up the game. They should be challenging to obtain, hence the name "Achievment"

@admiralvic:

I agree they shouldn't all be extremely hard but none should be overly easy either, they should all require some level of skill or luck. I have seen a few games where simply starting up the game for the first time or accessing a certain function of the gameplay gave a trohpy,...

Even if they did, it wouldn't make much of a difference. There are still people who think GDDR and DDR are the same thing.

Doubt it, my GTX 470 maxes out at 70c after several hours playing FC3 maxed (@70% fan speed and all case fans on low), there is no way an APU is hitting 80.

Oh great, FF X-2-2. Can we atleast get a "Light Speed Undress" function to make the game somewhat entertaining?

*Samsung K4G41325FC-HC03 4 Gb (512 MB) GDDR5 RAM
OS/Multitasking?

*Samsung K4B2G1646E-BCK0 2 Gb (256 MB) DDR3 SDRAM
Game recording? 15mins buffered into dedicated ram then transfered to disk if chosen to keep?

Just guesses but it makes sense.

*Samsung K4G41325FC-HC03 4 Gb (512 MB) GDDR5 RAM

Interesting, i'm assuming one or both of the ones with astrixes are dedicated to the OS in some way. Would be nice to get some more information from someone who knows exactly what those are for.

@Ezz2013:

Correct. The accepted industry standard for high end electronics is 4-5%.

The PS2 and PS3 also had below 1% failure rates, problem was every single person who had one fail posted about it online, you see a forum with thousands of people complaining of a busted system and it looks like alot when not remembering there were 80m sold.
