You played the anniversary version? Did you bother doing the story mode that had puzzles, traps, cutscenes etc? Or did you just hop in for 10 minutes and sail around doing nothing?
Sure, price point is great, but I'd rather save up that $100 and get the better product with more versatility. My family is big on Mario Party and that only uses Joy Cons separately so this has no use for us.
So 70% (majority) use the Switch the way it's supposed to be, a hybrid console. That was the whole appeal of the thing.
I personally see no point or have no use for this thing, but to each their own.
Plus, if you want to play ARMS or Mario Party youd need to buy a set of joycons which is like $70, so there goes your $100 you saved. This seems silly to me.
I didnt say I expect them to be the same. Just that it didnt capture any of the fun of those games. Luigi's Mansion's concept was boring from the get go and it was so simple and safe it was boring.

Until they show some compelling gameplay there isnt much reason for me to buy full price. Story may be weird and interesting, but not for $60. Show me some cool and engaging gameplay and I'm in.

Never been a fan of Luigi's Mansion. They were always boring and never captured the fun of Mario's 3D platforming adventures.
Even so, has he not seen real life before? Has he never seen a real plane and how it moves? Does he know that objects, shadows, and textures don't pop in and out of existence like that? Even if you have never seen an animation ever in your life... he isn't 5 years old, he has seen plenty of the real world.

The subscription is only if you want 4k and a library of games to play. For instance it is launching with Destiny 2 on the monthly service, with more to come. Then if the game isnt on the service, you need to pay for the game just like any other marketplace. Or you do a free account that caps at 1080p and just buy your games normally with no monthly service.

You pay for the service to access a number of games, just like GamePass or PSNow, but if the game is not on the monthly service or they remove the game... then you have to buy it. It's not different than any other service.
Your other concerns are legitimate for sure.
They showed a bit of it with the first reveal trailer. But next week is the Versus Beta, August I think they're doing a horde beta, and then September up until release I think they said they'll talk a bit more on campaign.
I think them being quiet on the story is a good sign they have some cool stuff in there.
