I really hope they keep up on these videos. I love when a developer is transparent and lets the players exactly know whats coming and what issues they're seeing. More devs need to adopt this practice. Maybe not one a week, but at least one every couple weeks going over any changes being made to the game would be great.
The fact they still bother to make these videos despite the absolute thrashing they're getting wish some reviews at least shows they still care and n...
There are caves and plenty of large islands with caves... You obviously haven't played much. Mermaids are in the game as well and used to respawn you and your boat.
Same here... I play this every free moment I have. I want that Pirate Legend status. I have even been taking lunch breaks at home to do a couple voyages haha
The Digital Foundry video is spot on.
the average of the 22 critics on Meta is 70... are we now saying a 7/10 is a bad game not worth playing? Some of my favorite games are around that mark.
I'll play mostly solo through the week and then did co-op on the weekend with the boys and I have just as many awesome moments solo. Maybe not LOL funny moments like messing around with the guys, but taking my time, exploring islands, finding hidden chests and loot and random missions, getting in fights, making random friends with another crew and going on voyages together etc.
The game is only as limited as you want to make it. it can also be very fun if you're wil...
I'm sure there will be a new content announcement for SoT for E3. They said the first big content drop will be within 3 months so it's highly likely they'll show off some of the new stuff.
Well when people are reviewing it low it's because they want to see some progression rewards and other content. Other content I get, but this game was never meant to be a stat based RPG. It's to make sure everyone is on a level playing field and the only advantage will be individual skill INSTEAD of who grinded out the most raid forts and leveled up fastest because they no lifed it and can now have a boat capable of one shotting a newbies sloop...
Also everyone want...
Agreed. There is definitely more than 4 hours of fun here...
Why did people think there was going to be player and stat progression? I find most people who are upset with SoT are the people who thought or expect it to be something it never claimed to be. Ah well, I'm loving it still.
I have been playing for many hours and haven't ran into a single hacker thank goodness. Also, I'm not sure how he comes up with this one "Player base is largely toxic". Why? Because you're able to attack each other and steal treasure? Or shoot on sight because you want to protect your treasure from possible attackers?
3.5 is way too low.
Sounds about right. Probably people who were griefed by PvPers thinking they were going to get taxed for dying. Which wasn't the case.
You can kill sharks now btw...
They purposely don't want AI ships on the sea. But I'd love to see more sea life. How amazing would it be to be sailing and seeing dolphins swimming and jumping next to you with that great water and lighting?
Maybe have more dangers other than sharks swimming around? Schools of jellyfish, swordfish, stingrays?
The capture shark feature I believe is coming. I was talking to the trade guild and one of the options was "can we capture sharks and krakens?"
The NPC replied "Sharks are majestic creatures. I will bring this up next time I'm at a guild meeting" (or something like that).
1. They purposefully didn't want AI ships that way it builds tension knowing that any boat you see will be player controlled.
2. See point 1.
3. I'd be down for that. More PvP options would be great.
4. Not sure how that would work with a shared world. People would just occupying islands and that would be a pain while exploring.
5. More ships is a good idea and I want to be able to customize more details like ...
I enjoyed Yooka and I'm enjoying SoT... so I dont know. Opinions I guess.
The difference is that getting money in sea of Thieves takes time. A 30 minute voyage may only net you 1k or so until you get to the more advanced voyages.
Did it have more content? I mean I played both and never had a single outstanding moment with NMS unlike I have had with SoT. But for me personally I like the idea of an online PvP pirate adventure more so than a lonely jaunt through space filled with unmemorable randomly generated planets and creatures...
