VGChartz estimates Forza 6 was 250k first week.
So for Sea of Thieves to be the fasting selling first party game is pretty impressive.

Has Rare ever made such a beautiful game before? Is that water and sailing tech not the best tech you have seen ever? Have they ever done an open world online PvP game before where you can play with up to 4 players?
The answer is no. So I'd say that quote is still accurate. The game is very ambitious, did it nail everything out the gate? No. But it is definitely something Rare has never done before.
So a game being very fun with friends isn't criteria for giving it a good score? If you're having fun memorable moments with a game regardless if it's for 10 or 20 or more hours... isn't that criteria to score a game decently? It's not like they're giving it a 9 or higher saying it's spectacular...
Well they aren't really comparable. It is possible for 2 games in completely different genres to score similar...

I think as the game goes on and more of the try hards filter out with GamePass trial expiring you will run into more friendly pirates. I never shoot on sight and am always cordial unless I'm attacked, then it's on! but there have been a couple times I have teamed up with other crews to go on voyages together.
They said 2 to 3 times the size of the open beta, which was around the 900k mark. So definitely over a couple million players which is a record for them, yeah.

I disagree with this statement. Gold hoarders as you rank up you will be going on multiple chapter voyages that will mix just red X maps and riddles. I really enjoy doing the riddles, they usually take you around to more of the neat stuff around the islands. Every time I play something new happens. This is why I love online games. The unpredictability of having other people in the world will always give you something different. One moment you're just on a voyage for some loot, the next minute you're in a ship battle, then teaming up with a friendly crew to join the voyage and split rewards.

I have put in 40 hours into SoT and still am having a blast. Who cares. Just play your game.
