If games look like this when running (meaning when I play it I have full control and it looks like this,) then all my questions about Wii U have been answered and I can have rest assured.
If it's anything else, then I have more questions than answers.
How hard is it to say, "it's more powerful?" It's just three little words. Here, I'll do it again.
~ It's more powerful ~
If it is then why not say so? Microsoft and Sony don't have any problem with explaining any tech they have is more powerful than Nintendo. It's not like he would be lying, or bragging. If it is more powerful he would be telling the truth. Miyamoto is smart enough to know that they asked that question...
This what I DIDN'T want to hear. I didn't a system AS powerful as the 360 and PS3. I wanted a system MORE powerful. If this thing is just 'on par' with the 360 and PS3 then that means the PS4 and 720 will be leaps and bounds more powerful.
Granted, in every console race thus far the weakest console has won the war, but I don't think it is smart for Nintendo to bank on that. Especially with Sony and Microsoft able to counter Nintendo creativity with the...
THANK YOU! Finally someone else see that too. If anything, we got more this time around than we did back when Nintendo unveiled the Revolution.
One thing though is that Nintendo always comes out with durable products as well. I remember one time my leg got tangled up with the GameCube power cord and I accidentally kick the system half-way across the room. Not only did it not have any damage, it didn't even skip!
I look at it this way. This is a good time to get in on Nintendo stock if you want to take a shot. You can't really blame people for bailing out though. Nintendo left a big question mark from the conference.
I feel like they showed us too much while at the same time didn't show us enough. What I mean is if they weren't going to show us any games that were made off of Wii U hardware, then they shouldn't have showed us ANYTHING. Showing PS3 and 360 ports on...
Other than the Wii I can't think of any new piece of hardware that doesn't retail at a loss. The Wii was the first console I heard of that made a profit off top of 50 dollars per system.
It's always been common knowledge that companies lose money on hardware, and make money on software. That is why third party support (or lack there of) can make or break a system. So this isn't news at all.
Yeah I know. I don't know why people keep ignoring that. It was pretty obvious. The announcement of Smash Bros for the Wii U and 3DS got the loudest pop of the entire conference. Can't see how people missed that. It's that damn TV!!!
If any of this footage winds up being real-time game play???.............oh brother......oh man.
But I will exercise extreme CAUTION. All I have to say is, Spaceworld 2000. People know what I'm talking about.
I'm afraid as much as I've been defending Nintendo today I have to agree.
*cues the Price Is Right Losing Horn*
Although I can understand the logic. If I don't already own a Wii and I can play Wii games in 1080p upscaled on the Wii U, why would I even ponder buying a Wii? It was clear in the presser that Nintendo intends to keep supporting the Wii (even though they treated it like a lost child at the presser.) Allowing Wii games to be played on...
I don't agree with that. Look at the difference between Naruto games on the Gamecube and PS2 and compare that to the Ultimate Ninja Storm games on the PS3 and 360. That's a good example of what HD graphics can do for cell-shaded graphics.
Not when I can go out and buy a 2 TB external HDD and use that for storage. Had Nintendo not of allowed for you to use your own storage methods, I would agree that 8GB isn't much room Especially for things like map packs for FPS games. But if I can use my own storage methods(which they confirmed that you can)then 8GB of flash is just fine.
Gee....I wasn't aware that Nintendo was all done making games for the Wii U and can no longer make a game for the Wii U. How distressing.
WHAT THE HELL ARE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT? Missed opportunity?!?!?!? For goodness sakes they just announced the thing 8 hours ago. Geez. Can they have a minute? How many games were announced at E3 2005 when Nintendo unveiled the Revolution?
*crickets*
Exactly. How much game footage was shown at that ...
The biggest missed point about this whole conference is that Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed that NONE of the footage you saw of third party games was running on Wii U hardware. All of the was footage from the 360 and PS3 versions and they showed them to let you know the version of these games are coming to the Wii U. It might completely change between now and then. Who knows?
The only thing that was shown what was running from the Wii U hardware from the ground up was the bird...
The Wii was overpriced? You just said that Nintendo overprices everything. Are you kidding me? Not only was the Wii NOT overpriced, but from launch Nintendo made of 50 dollar profit off of each Wii sold because of the inexpensive manufacturing of Wiis.
This Nintendo bashing is getting out of control.
*BUZZ* Wrong. Nintendo started 3D gaming before Sony did with the Virtual Boy way back in 1995. It failed, but they at least tried. Also, the Gamecube had 3D capabilities built in, but was never used because 3D TVs were still too far away.
To wrap this whole thing up. I'm sure that the PS3 and Vita can and will work together in ways similar to the Wii U. Why is that a problem? Why can't two company have similar features in their hardware? Don't all three systems have rumble features? Don't all three system use analog sticks? Don't all three systems use motion controls?
It's immature and selfish to try and hold onto new technology for yourself. Nintendo knew what Sony was up to bef...
Every one of those games you mentioned at the same games Sony rehashes. What's your point? Why stop making games that make money? Yes, Sony unveiled a few new IPs and they look great, but the PS3 is a finished system that's been out for 5 years. The Wii U is still a work in progress.
When Nintendo announced the Revolution in 2005 they didn't announce a bunch of games for it. They waited until E3 2006 and announced a BUNCH of new IPs for the Wii as well as u...
Everything they showed us today are ports off of stuff that has been done already or on cross-platform titles. So I'm not gonna trip off of the quality of the graphics which I'm afraid to say looked slightly WORSE than the 360 and PS3.
Clearly graphical power is not the focus of Nintendo, but just one branch in there overall strategy. They should have shown US a least ONE GAME that had graphics in which surpassed the 360 and PS3. Even if it was just a tech demo l...
Yeah I see what you mean. Wave Race has better water spray than that. It did look like Jell-O. :) I'll give them a pass on that though being that this is a tech demo.
