Uh no. Actually when the Revolution was first unveiled at E3 2005 they did NOT show any games or describe the Wii-Remote AT ALL. It wasn't until TGS 2005 that they unveiled the Wii-Remote, and it wasn't until E3 2006 that we saw the games in action.

So actually, people got more this time around when Nintendo first unveiled their new system than when they did at E3 2005.

The key word is 'right now' BLU-RAY is a big deal. There was a time that DVD was a 'big deal'. There was a time that CD was a 'big deal'. The problem, not being able to watch a movie on a video game system has never had anything to do with success or failure. And please do not bring up the Dreamcast because not having DVD is not what killed it. The fact that people bootlegged the bejabbers out of the Dreamcast is what killed it.

The Nintendo Wii w...

Well according to them this new system is targeting 'you.' It's fair to be skeptical at this time because like I've said earlier, Nintendo didn't give us a whole lot to explain why people whom weren't interested in Nintendo before, should be NOW.

From that standpoint I think the criticism is fair and deserved.

I still say the grades stand as follows.

Sony A+
Microsoft Q-
Nintendo 'Incomplete'

It's not even fair to grade Nintendo's performance because even Iwata himself says that they made several mistakes and could have shown more but didn't. Hopefully they will make up for it at TGS.

Sony's conference wasn't perfect, but it definitely was the best conference I've ever seen them put on. There was p...

Coming into E3 I though it was going to be a 2-horse race. Leaving E3 I can confirm that it is a 2-horse race. Nintendo and Sony. Nintendo lost a lot of momentum after E3 because of the confusion over Wii U, but Microsoft lost ALL their momentum with that embarrassing display on Monday.

To be honest, as far as sheer momentum goes right now the ball is in Sony's court.

Top five best selling console of all time are as follows.

(weakest)PS2 - 150 Million
(weaker than PSP) Nintendo DS - 146 million
(weakest)Game Boy - 118 million
(weakest)PlayStation - 100 million
(weakest)Nintendo Wii - 86 million

What do they all have in common? They all won their respective wars and they were weaker than their most direct competitor or the WEAKEST of their generation.

@Shadowflare: If you want to go the semantics route, I could bring up the Power Glove and U-Force for the NES long before Sony was IN the video games business. You know I was referring to the Kinect and Move so don't go there.

Yeah. Since it took Microsoft and Sony 5 years to catch up to motion-controls, no stones need to be thrown at Nintendo for this. They tried something different, and it didn't work. Big deal. It's not like they couldn't have done this 6 years ago. They just chose not to and it was a mistake. All three companies have made their fair share. At least Nintendo is correcting theirs, and even Sony. What's Microsoft doing?

*crickets*

I said the same thing when Sony and Microsoft added motion controls to their systems last year.

"Welcome to 2005 Sony and Microsoft." :)

@SilentNegotiator: That's an impressive argument. However Nintendo has been tinkering with motion-controls since the early 90s with the power glove and U-Force.

Those are the same people whom have headaches after watching 3D movies as well. It's not a Nintendo only issue. It's a 'certain people just can't handle 3D imagery' issue. It isn't going to change. Nintendo doesn't need to change anything, especially when there is a button where you can turn the 3D 'OFF'.

The Wii is not an (or) it's an (and). There was no reason not to have a Wii and a 360 or a Wii and a PS3 until recently with Sony and Microsoft bringing in motion-controls BECAUSE of the Wii. Clearly motion-controls have not 'lost their novelty'.

I know that is is 139.99 at Gamestop, so I wouldn't doubt that price or 129.99 at Sears.

To be honest, Microsoft should never have abandoned HD-DVD. They should have made 360 disc based on that format. Just because it didn't win the 'format war' against BLU-RAY doesn't mean it would have been useful.

How many threads are gonna be made asking this same question? *smh*

But just to indulge.....

Sony gets an A+
Microsoft gets a Q-
Nintendo gets an 'incomplete'

This article is loaded with half-truths. The REAL problem is that ID Software spent the last 5 years PUBLICLY ripping the Wii to shreds and have burned bridges with Nintendo.
